Histopathology Skin--Lamellar ichthyosis

I have lamellar ithyosis and Im 13. It has not been easy especially since I am the only person with it in my town (I live in Iceland), so everybody either asks whats wrong with my skin, call me ugly,weird or look at me funny.But I think Ithyosis also has a plus side to it which is that I think Im a nicer person than I would have been if I did not have it because I don't talk behind peoples backs or say mean things because I know how much it hurts and I don't want other people to go through that

I have this and it has affected me all my life. I was called a leppar at school and even accused of having lice by a teacher. Has affected me psychologically both in a positive and negative way. Would be good to see a cure so that kids are not bullied and become malajusted, withdrawn and have relationship issues as a result.

@deadnewts Do you have Ichthyosis? I have a mild case of Lamellar Ichthyosis... I know how you feel. I didn't have many friends in elementary school and so far in high school none of the guys pay much attention to me. Where are you from?

I have this too when I was little it was very bad i even had it on my face, but Thanfully it has gotten a lot better over the years Im 17 now and its mostly visible onmy hands and feet but I keep getting better everday =)

i have ichthyosis too...back in the 80's...when i was a kid..nobody wanted to touch me or sit next too me....children can be so cruel.now im in my 30's,its good to see doctors finally get some answers as to what i have...and finally meet other ppl who have this when i thought i was the only one.....thank god for the internet.

i have ichthyosis but not to an extreme. its mostly on my legs n arms.

what is the treatment for your type of ichthyosis?

i use an over the counter lotion that i apply frequently. i also use a pumice stone once in a while to rid of dead skin. it does get annoying but i have no other choice, until they find a cure for it :/

i have Ich!! they used to think it was Lamellar, but now theyre sayin CIE. so who knows.LOL
