  • Lots of versions of this classic but this is still my fav. Driving alone on Hwy 86 in Caswell County NC USA -- in the dark close to the pawn shop on Dec 24 reminiscing....pop sure reaches out to the most obscure places.

  • Awesome

  • This is freakin awesome! I've always remembered hearing this first time round and remember how good it was. Always wanted to hear it again as it's one of my memories from this great TV programme. We need TFI Friday to come back onto our screens!

  • He looks so young. I remember it first time round. I feel realy old now!

  • I remember when Chris Evans introduced this, I think even he was expecting a bit of a joke. Instead, James turned this into a short, sweet and classic performance. Agree with everyone who remember this as an indelible moment. Hard to believe it's been over 10 years.

  • I remember watching this live, and thinking it was something special. Glad i've found it on youtube. bravo minigoth. This is just legendary

  • BRILLIANT

  • Different class

  • i melted, like a snowman

  • anyone got a link to sting singing message in a bottle on tfi please

  • I think I'm going to die :D Amazing!

  • Saw him on a train once from Cardiff to Paddington....

  • what year was this?

  • This video was TFI Friday with Chris Evans as the host. I watched this episode when it was first aired and still gives me goosebumps. xx

  • His voice is so emotive in this song, just beautiful.

  • i'll happily have JDB's heart and never give it away. Hahaha.

  • so beautiful. And the rendition is awesome too.

  • super tare. Craciun fericit tuturor romanilor!

  • so fucking smooth and cool... JDB takes George Michael to task. ONE of these two men is a genius.

  • What a voice, listen to this every Christmas, Merry Christmas everyone :)

  • @tom120789 me too, every xmas I came here to listen this masterpiece.

  • @Spiralminds

Ahhhh! glad I'm not the only one :)

  • I left the 1st comment on this video 4 years ago saying how good this was and I'm still coming back for more. Classic performance by the man the legend!

  • i rem watching this on TFI, still today is sounds fantastic .. love JDB, such a voice..

  • that's not a gay guy in the background with a woody, it's madeley with a stolen bottle of wine from Tesco's down his pants...allegedly

  • Comment removed

  • great voice, dude!

  • I absolute love this, I remember this being on live in 97 ish on TFi Friday...

  • I ADORE YOU

  • 3 people don't have a soul!

  • If anyone needs a reason to learn Guitar and develop your singing voice ...you can see it @0:32. Take your pick James, four women and you've got them all equally wet without even leaving your barstool.

  • @digglyda They r wet bcos they r watching and listening to the sexiest man alive....

  • @bikiper

yes and there is a gay guy back there with a woody too.

  • @jettkrash where is that alleged gay guy with a woody?? i cant pick him out in the crowd!

  • i remember performance its TFI friday that was on channel 4 presented by chris evans was in the middle of the 90s had all the big bands of the time on every friday....

  • I love James so much. Ahhh!

  • my evil cat is the one who has his heart. she ate it

  • fuck what year was this?! i remember this being on the telly! I don't like this song, but james makes it actually good.. cheers for this!

  • This was on TFI Friday. I remember it vividly. Amazing. JDB is amazing. What a voice!!

  • @WEBuk1 ugly bloke ugly bloke, now we salute them! lol, good show

  • damn yo, he his eh good voice

  • I love his voice!

  • Bradfiel, the best Cymru. ¡Cymru am byth fri !!!!

  • KAWAII

  • Very Nice

  • JDB can siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing. damn!

  • Ain't that Richard Madley the Shop Lifter in the house ! Got a bottle in his hand I see - Forgot to pay for that one as well I assume !

  • he makes me love christmas

  • I hear you NightBadger, my musical taste is mostly rock/metal and euphoric trance, but if I like a song, I like a song, that's why my ipod on shuffle can play Iron Maiden, Ice Cube (usually don't like hip hop), The Prodigy, and JS. Bach in that order.

As for this video, I too, remember watching it on tfi, it was amazing then and gets better everytime I hear it. People shouldn't cover Christmas songs, but this was a good example, shame there is Crazy Frog and Cascada in the related videos list.

  • "I recall being blown away by the quality of JDB's voice and also respected him for choosing an, at the time, cheesy Wham song"

Ah yes, back when liking 80's music made you a social outcast. I remember watching this and thinking, "Why is it that when he sings it it's credible, but when I say I like it people think I have no taste?" People are sheep - always have been and always will be; a good song is a good song, 'fashion' should never dictate what music can be enjoyed.

  • Great video and fantastic vocals by JDB. Seems like only yesterday i saw this on TV.

  • rem this on tv..still fkn great everytime i hear it..

  • madeley's into it

  • question...is this the original singer of this song?? because there are soooo much versions!!

  • I remember this moment clearly. The Manics, although relatively successful, hadn't really gone mainstream at this point. I recall being blown away by the quality of JDB's voice and also respected him for choosing an, at the time, cheesy Wham song. Great telly - thanks.

  • This was TFI at its peak. Possibly the best episode of TFI there ever was (apart form the middle of Euro 96). good find, my friend, good find.

  • It's on tfi friday.

I love the nineties! Terrible clothes all round, plus check out richard and judy in the audience!

  • why's this comment been marked down so much?? He sort of does.

  • I would agree that Bradfield is the best rock vocalist in the Uk by a mile! A shit hot guitarist too!

    Manics rule!

  • wasnt in a pub you mong, it was on chris evans' TFI friday. awesome tho, i remember it as if it was yesterday. :-(

  • Insanely good vocals. Oh yes.

  • Bradfield...the best UK rock vocalist since Freddie Mercury?

  • No question!

  • ha ha is that richard and judy

  • Cool version. Bradfield's singing was great back then which was round the time of Everything must go!

  • Aww, he looks like a cuddly bear!

  • Ah, I remember this......good times......I remember questioning the roll-neck though....

  • im not saying i dont like this song! i mean i do! i meant that he shud be headlining wembley stadium rather than this!!

  • Haha what the fuck was that at the end HONK

  • he's too gud too be singing in a pub as a 'gig'

  • wtf r u talking about? i am english

  • you misspelled 'cause

  • ..It was from TFI friday..

Which was a tv show in the UK, and the set was designed to look like a pub..

  • Love this song. Happened to me. Sigh seems like so long ago

  • how bout you die piece of shit !

  • Excellent. His voice always sound's better with an acoustic.

  • ahhh... even though I am a bit of a Grinch... I do love this song, and you gotta love the Manics! His voice is gorgeous

  • I great song is impossible to overplay. This is art. No matter how many times you look at it or hear it, you do love it.

  • I just hate "Last Christmas"

Every year I try to avoid that song.

    It really makes me sick.

  • why?

  • because i have heard it about 1 million times and every store you enter plays it.

the times i could enjoy it are long gone.

  • I feel almost the same way. It's a fantastic and beautiful song. But 20 years of this being overplayed and covered and covered again can be a bit of overkill. :)

  • this is great - i think from tfi friday?

  • thank god for JDB

  • is right

  • nadolig llawen mochgyn saesneg

  • still keep listening to this. great song great artist brings back so many good memories bring back tfi...

  • He's cool!

  • I THNIK ITS GREAT!

  • Different, and not as good!

  • He adds zero to the GM version.

  • Rubbish - it's a totally different version. This is ace.

  • I've never seen this singer before, but he has a very good man singing voice :p

  • Amazing! Absolutely amazing! Love this man and love the Manics. They're awesome!! I'm only 15 as well and all me mates and ppl at school are like who the hell are the Manics but tbh I just don't care coz I think they're great and I hold so much respect for them. I feel they're so underated and it's such a shame. I love you James. Wot a legend!! XxX

  • Alot of people dismiss the songs George Micheal wrote in Wham as shallow pop music, this is a great song and I love James's interpretation of it!!

  • great!! One of the best time for hearing his voice

  • this is the version on lipstick traces.

  • Put simply, James Dean Bradfield is amazing.

  • JDB is so totally cool, at the end he just knows he's done a fab job and doesnt even try and look flattered by the cheering.

    Go James!

  • This was the moment I said my son is going to play acoustic guitar, he was a few months old at the time if I remember correctly!!!

  • Beautiful.

I think manics fan's should check out mirrorkicks website for their song be allowed and you'll know what I mean about an influence

  • I well remember watching this first time around. Marvellous. Put simply...No JDB...No MSP.

  • the most underrated voice in music. this is superb, so emotional, especially when you think about what he became famous for in the first place you'd think the manics would never touch this but this is great

  • Wow Fantastic, you have a great voice Crystal clear, move over George

    Cheers Steve

  • It was 1996...I'm pretty sure,

  • 01:09 Richard and his mum Judy

  • fucking HATE richard and judy but give them a little respect for watching james dean bradfield manics 4 real

  • This was on TFI Friday in 98' I think. Def on TFI though

  • whay year is this from? im guessing about 1996or 1997 because of the way he looks. i dont know hoe james can do that with everyone watching him..

  • powerful stuff

  • SWEET!

  • Love this man, love this song, love his voice... i just love it :D

  • nice voice....

  • Good work

  • Its the fact that such a strong-willed character like JDB can bring such a romantic quality to a cheesy xmas song!!

He is eternally my guitar-playing angel- voiced hard-as-nails hero!!

  • he went to school with my brother... james is about 5 foot 7 and my brother is 6 foot 3 he hit my brother over some chairs in school he is hard as nails then about three years ago my brother found out he was james's third cousin

  • lol cudn't hoock us up could ya? ;-)

  • Amazing - what a voice!

  • Absolute class. Brilliant vocals, but to hear Mr Bradfield at his best check out his duet with John Cale of Ready for Drowning, its beautiful.

  • better than all those fake versions like the 1 of whigfield...

  • richard madelys a twat

  • So cute! He won't look at the camera! Oh my jesus, HE'S SO SHYYYYYYYY. PS this performance is super amazing.

  • I'm repeating this video for many times.

  • Great!

  • This is strange and rad. Though I don´t wanna write that...but it´s a good version. His clear voice sounds really good and he did a great job. I know...how could he ? But take this song as an almost traditional X-mas song and everything is OK. Hey...even the toughest guy got a sense for romantic stuff...

  • Good man Jimmy

  • Aww i love his voice in this. My fav fellow welsh person and singer <3

  • i remember this well, excellent performance mr bradfield

  • Absolutely fantastic song, covered by a brilliant singer from an amazing band. You can really hear his voice in this one, it's fantastic. There's nothing bad to say about JDB, he's a top bloke, all the way around.

  • amazing

  • Me too..i like the acoustic blend

  • I remember the evening this was played. Bring back TFI for it's fun and appeal to people who live life to the max. Wicked acoustic piece.

  • this version is so good, it's on the b-side and covers album "lip stick traces" no need for tabs Creamsella, it's just D,Bm,Em,A!
