what kind of lighting are you using and does it work well with your low tech setup?i ask because i also have a 55 gallon and i am looking to upgrade my lighting before starting to plant. also do you have any algae problems. anyone who can answer this would be great.

Can someone answer these questions ok R german blue rams cichlids, if so do they need high ph, r they a hardy fish, r they a community fish aka not aggrasive, what do they eat, and can I keep one in a 5 gallon tank with 2 green Cory cats and 4 glofish
@peplo6 I have 3 blue rams. one is a big male who is always ramming a smaller male over the female ram..the big male also rams the female to keep her away from the other male..they are very non aggressive with other fish..i have 2 danios, much smaller and 2 clown loaches..rams play with the loaches no agression at all..but they ram each other all day..at night rams sleep and stop the ramming...they like brine shrimp..get a bigger tank even for one. I have a good filter..heater most important

beautiful :D when you say low tech, what do you mean? are you using special substrate or fertilisers or is it just a regualr tank with a filter and heater? i'd love to attempt something like this!
@littlelauren971@littlelauren971 Thank you! Low tech meaning no co2 injection or high wattage lighting. Also, very little water changing. I did use a premium substrate but other than that, just regular gear. Cheers and good luck on your endeavour!
Your ram makes me drool. Great tank, aside from the very obvious row of the foreground plant (hairgrass?). Since this is an old video, bet it looks loads better now though
Thanks for the comment! Compared to a hi-tech (high wattage lighting, co2 injection, lots of prunning etc.) setup it was quite cheap and easy. I've read numerous articles of successful planted tanks using (non-scented, non-clumping) cat litter as substrate! Good luck!
beautiful bro i love the way you set it up everything blends in perfectly good job dude i wsih i can make a tank like this.. (only if a had the money lol)...

@TDWP1804 Actually I didn't, but have seen videos and read about others that have. Google "Cat litter aquarium substrate" and you'll see. Cheers!
