  • Great

  • Wow pretty cool .

would you do studio work and maybe some over dubs too. your very good .

  • Thank you for your kind comment. Yes, I do studio work, over dubs, write and play parts for new songs or replay parts for old songs as required. Some artistes prefer me to travel to their studio, others send me a file and I add parts. I should perhaps point out I'm based in the UK. If you send me a You Tube message I can reply with a bit more detail.

    All the best

    Mark

  • Great Playing, nice tune. Do you play with a band?

  • Thanks for the comments. Yes I do play with a band - Nashville Numbers and stand in with a few others when they're in my neck of the woods.

  • Great playing. I could listen all night.

  • Nice guitar, nice tune - very nicely played!

I tried learning Pedal Steel some years ago, but Lloyd Green made me stop - if you know what I mean.......:-)

  • Job Done! Your guitar's got great intonation, and your style is first class. I cant wait to have a crack at that one on my ZB Twin Custom!

  • tres joli tu joue bien

  • omg! why would anyone invent such a complex musical instrument? it sounds beautiful though.

  • I have to say this is some great playing of a great song. I love Lloyd Green and if you ever tab this out I would love to get a copy. Good job on this, man I would play that for hours. I only wish I could figure that out on my own...ha ha

  • This is a catchy tune. You do a great job on this one. You should make a Video DVD. I probably wear out my laptop listening to this. More, more.

  • Thanks for the comments folks

  • thank for your response, someone reputable mentioned the CARTER STARTER 3p 4k for 695.00 not bad? I may go with it he said it plays a little nicer than a SHO BUD MAVERICK. which I could have lived with. Im very machanical especially w levers n such, but I wanna play. NOT wrench. CARTER is ALL PLAY!!! should I????

  • It's hard for me to comment on the Carter, I've never seen one, only heard second or third hand comments. I have played a Maverick and I remember it as being a bit primitive. I would suggest you look for a secondhand pro model guitar and get it checked by an engineer before you start on it. A good steel guitar teacher will pay dividends at this stage too.

  • Sounds better every time I listen! I've got the ol' Sho-Bud out again and I'm on a mission!

  • Mark, Its great to know that the same guy I watch, and show my friends to, responds with critical info on what Im tryin to learn, it sure means a great deal to me!! Based on the stuff, I may bid on an Old sho-bud d 10 finger tip.8 ped 2 knee . Ebay# 170115047455. If you get a chance , take a look n tell me if its what I need or not. Again, Thanks for the useful info.!! You're very kind indeed!! MARK THE MAN! Regards. Freddy

  • It's a great old guitar and something I'd love to own. But I have to be honest it's not really suitable for a beginner. Guitars of this age were designed when the pedal steel was still in development. Many players of this era were great lap steel player and didn't need to used pedals and levers like we do today. So if I was you I'd buy it, stick it under the bed for 5 years, buy a fairly modern steel to learn on. I bet you won't lose money, Oh yes, and sell me your spare Shobud pedal.

  • HEY MARK, Im shopping for a pedal steel, Is single neck plenty to start with? and how many pedals and levers will do? sure can use some pointers. hit me back please! thanks. Freddy

  • Freddy,

A single neck 10 string E9 guitar is just fine to get started with. Check it has an 'A' pedal strings 10/5 B to C# raise, 'B' pedal strings 6/3 G# to A raise, 'C' pedal string 4 E to F# raise and on the same pedal string 5 B to C# raise. You also need an 'E' knee lever strings 4/8 E to Eb lower and 'F' knee lever strings 4/8 E to F raise. A 'D' knee lever that lowers string 2 from D# to D/C# (half way D, all the way C#) is useful.

    That's all you need

    Mark

  • Hey Mark,

    Nice playing.

Have you tabbed this one out ?

My creaking repertoire could do with a new addition !

  • Steelie1955,

I going to tab it out when I get time

    Cheers

  • Great video, love the tune! Gonna try learn this one!

  • kick ass, dude. thats a great album too.

  • I watch your clip all the time. and L.G. farewell party. I plan to get an emmons, Im very green still, any tips MARKY?

  • That's nice to know. Plenty of practice, is the only way to really learn this instrument or any instrument. Find a good teacher, a good teacher will hopefully make you aware of bad habits from day one. Get out and gig as soon as you can.

I sincerely hope you stick at it and enjoy it.

    Cheers Mark

  • more vids Marky! thanx for the tips! this instrument STEELS my heart!

  • great great great please post some more

  • that was nice to see and looking forward to seeing more of you playing.

  • Thanks guys for the kind comments

  • really cool, keep them coming.
