  • ...everyone has such great posture and appereance...its amazing...

  • lola: 'he is fascinating and that tan,I guess from working out door, I supposed he is handy indoors too!" some line!

  • Yes it is the Criterion edition.

  • Was this clip from the 'Criterion edition DVD'? This print color values

appear to be off scale. Charming clip form a bygone era of filmmaking!

  • I found this film strangely moving, even though Jane Wyman was a most unlikely love interest, and RH was gay. I watch it every few years---Wyman's brilliant and RH seems sincere. Wyman's coiled tension! Her eyes all startled and wary wrapped in that perfect face and modestly girdled figure!! Who'da thought!

  • @marginallymental

Great comment. Like you, I watch this every few years and increasingly, I find it's Wyman's outstanding performance that draws me into it. She could portray real vulnerability with those big shining brown eyes. I think Franz Liszt turned out to be her best leading man.

  • @4Topwood, Franz Liszt? I thought he was a German composer! A quick search brought up nothing---there was an actor named FL? And th this script...those awful, self-admiring children! I'm filled with anger at them every time I see this. And I'm old enough to remember the Howards of this world---the men who saw you as meat.
