The 17 in hell isn't the real 17...it was a duplicate copy of the original 17. Dr. myuu and Dr. gero created the duplicate so it can fuse with the real 17, resulting them to turn into Super 17.
The real 17 was brainwashed by the fake 17 in hell, that's why he appeared evil and killed 18's husband. (his eyes glow red in the anime because he's being controlled).

Buu destroyed the Earth so 17 was killed again, but Vegeta asked Dende to revive the earth and everyone back with the dragonballs in the Buu saga. They also wished only the "good" people to be brought back to life, and this scene is after everyone is back alive again on earth. It's proof 17 is a good guy...otherwise he wouldn't be back again. I really wish 17 had more screentime. It would have been really interesting to see more of his good side along with 18. I wish they were still together.
For those that keep getting confused, 17 was wished back with the dragonballs on episode called "One more wish!". It is right after Gohan kills cell. One of the wishes was to revive everyone who cell killed (or his victims). 17 was one of them because when cell self destructed with goku that ended up killing 17 as well inside him. He lives his life in peace after getting wished back and this scene shows that he's always actually been a good person, despite his future self. Continued ->

Its possible that 16 didn't come back because he was an artificial being and technically had no life force to bring back. 19 coming back in gt doesn't count because gt is bull shit.

Find a city in ruin and begin fight androids and robots (Metropolis dimension future trunks meets they along the investigation) and an android krillin. Purpose: replace krillin and kill z fighters for Gero.
Yet, another episode where Dr. Gero comes back as metal or metalic gero and has a new group of androids fighting Goku and friends, Android elites and assassins, and apprentices. Krillin and 17 fight him and Goku and others fight the androids with android 16 and gokus old friends: 8, launch, etc. Krillin and 17 finds a way to fuse. his cyborg parts don't affect him once they defuse.
17 and 18 and krillin vs kid buu. They should done an episode like that. 17 finds/meets his sister and lives with krillin. And warms up to marron. He has a kid too later on. And marron and 17s kid along with gt bra/bulla, pan, trunks, goten train to help fight evil. They learn to fly, use energy blasts, and save earth. DBZ Chronicles. He also would've been an interestingly funny character and training partner for both 18 and krillin, he loves to play around but is serious, .

yep he did, because the wish clearly stated anyone who was killed by cell will be revived, since 17 died inside of cell, that count him as a victim, he was later brainwashed and became super 17, after he was killed by goku in gt, he was revived yet again after the defeat of omega shenron, that was the last we ever heard of him
no he did not appear again after the super 17 saga, but in the ultimate profile and on the last episode, goku clearly stated that he wish eveyone who doesn't deserve to die (ie krillin) will be brought back to life, the ultimate guidebook for dragon ball make further note that 17 was 100% sure to be brought back to life since he wasn't the one who killed all the people it was hell fighter 17 did that, all 17 did was getting brainwashed and gave up his body to hell fighter 17
that's one of the loophole/mystery left unsolved, since 16 wasn't brought back, one way to explain is that he's more evil than 17 and 18 since he was born to kill goku while 17 and 18 just want to have fun, but since he didn't escape from hell like 19 did, then he may be in heaven like what happened to Dabura
17 and 18 started out as human, they were born and raised like normal children but dr chero kidnapped them when they were teenagers and he moulded them with cyborg implants
Just to clarify, an android is a machine that is human like, meaning they look like a human, i.e android 19. A cyborg is what 17 and 18 are and that means they are human based.
Also, 17 and 18 in the future are merciless. They double team against gohan, and trunks. Even though they didn't need to, they are far stronger than both of them. But again, they were merciless killing machines.
In the present, they only fought 1 on 1.
Even when 17 was having difficulties against piccolo. 18 watched and did not interfere in the match. Most likely because 17 believed in the "Warriors code" And wanted a fair fight.
18 probably doesn't care, but she respects 17's wishes.
@globodog Even that's ify. He took the fight against Cell and became a good guy, and even decided not to fight Goku when he actually did see him. His programming was pretty weak. Being out and about long enough to see the big picture was basically all it took to break it. I'd imagine if 16 and Goku did fight, Goku's character would influence 16 somewhat. Goku's had that effect even on a guy like Vegeta, and 16 is very similar as a character to Android 8 from the old Red Ribbon Army saga.
@Randomname12345678 Actually Gohan was a bit stronger than 17 and 18 by the time they fought and killed him. 1 v1 Gohan was able to take on 17 and 18 . Remember Gohan is of Saiya-jin blood and with each fight and especially near death, he becomes stronger. He went toe to toe with them while missing 1 arm. They ganged up on him in the rain and eventually killed him. At that point they were far stronger than Trunks yes, but definitely not Gohan.

Man I love Android 17, he's not even evil. PLUS he was able to be revived because his humanity was restored and he is inherently good. I wish he would have been around 18 and her family more.

Android 17 & 18 are not complete robots like Android 16 was. It was revealed that Android 17 & 18 were full humans, before Dr.Gero would capture them, and add some robot parts to their bodies. In other words, 17 & 18 are cyborgs (half human and half robot). That's why they could revived, while Android 16 couldn't. And this also explains why Android 18 could have a baby with Krillin :)

I was confused as well, but then someone explained, that after the cell saga, the gang wished for EVERYONE who was a VICTIM of cell to return to life. They hinted at it but it was never really brought up...until now ^^
@TheMassyl He's a cyborg. Dr. Gero kidnapped him and 18 when they were humans and conducted experiments on them, turning them into androids - hence why 18 is able to have children. He was revived at the end of the Cell saga when the Z fighters used the dragon balls to wish back everyone who had been killed by Cell.
@TheMassyl 17 wasn't a villian, like 18 he was a human made into a bioandroid and programmed to fight Goku and due harm. That's why after Cell was defeated, when they wish for every good person killed by Cell to come back. 17 came back. I wish there more scenes with 17/18 and Adult Gohan. Hell during the time Goku is training uub they could make a series right there with those guys in it, but that's just my idea. It would certainly help out the dbz games some.

yep he did, because the wish clearly stated anyone who was killed by cell will be revived, since 17 died inside of cell, that count him as a victim, he was later brainwashed and became super 17, after he was killed by goku in gt, he was revived yet again after the defeat of omega shenron, that was the last we ever heard of him

no he did not appear again after the super 17 saga, but in the ultimate profile and on the last episode, goku clearly stated that he wish eveyone who doesn't deserve to die (ie krillin) will be brought back to life, the ultimate guidebook for dragon ball make further note that 17 was 100% sure to be brought back to life since he wasn't the one who killed all the people it was hell fighter 17 did that, all 17 did was getting brainwashed and gave up his body to hell fighter 17

The only reason they sought him out, was because it was a game for 17 to play.
18 simply goes along with him. They are close to each other and know each other very well..Plus 18 knew she could do some shopping eventually.
If you think about what they do... 17 jacks a car and goes joy riding, 18 goes shopping for clothes...
They're basically teenagers, as they were before being turned into androids.

Also, 17 and 18 in the future are merciless. They double team against gohan, and trunks. Even though they didn't need to, they are far stronger than both of them. But again, they were merciless killing machines.
In the present, they only fought 1 on 1.
Even when 17 was having difficulties against piccolo. 18 watched and did not interfere in the match. Most likely because 17 believed in the "Warriors code" And wanted a fair fight.
18 probably doesn't care, but she respects 17's wishes.

@globodog Even that's ify. He took the fight against Cell and became a good guy, and even decided not to fight Goku when he actually did see him. His programming was pretty weak. Being out and about long enough to see the big picture was basically all it took to break it. I'd imagine if 16 and Goku did fight, Goku's character would influence 16 somewhat. Goku's had that effect even on a guy like Vegeta, and 16 is very similar as a character to Android 8 from the old Red Ribbon Army saga.

@Randomname12345678 Actually Gohan was a bit stronger than 17 and 18 by the time they fought and killed him. 1 v1 Gohan was able to take on 17 and 18 . Remember Gohan is of Saiya-jin blood and with each fight and especially near death, he becomes stronger. He went toe to toe with them while missing 1 arm. They ganged up on him in the rain and eventually killed him. At that point they were far stronger than Trunks yes, but definitely not Gohan.

I don't know the reason, but 17 and 18 in the present were not.
They did have the same traits though, 17 likes to play games, and 18 likes to shop. Only difference is, they don't kill people or have a desire to.
They only fight the Z fighters, because vegeta started up with them, they just defended themselves.
17 even tells krillin to give his friends some sensu beans to heal them, Than leaves.

The one thing that still doesn't make sense is if Android 17 was alive the whole time, why didn't he ever try to find 18 or as you said seen more often in the Majin Buu Saga.

Android 17 & 18 are not complete robots like Android 16 was. It was revealed that Android 17 & 18 were full humans, before Dr.Gero would capture them, and add some robot parts to their bodies. In other words, 17 & 18 are cyborgs (half human and half robot). That's why they could revived, while Android 16 couldn't. And this also explains why Android 18 could have a baby with Krillin :)

He was revived at the end of the Cell saga when the Z fighters used the dragon balls to wish back everyone who had been killed by Cell.

That's why after Cell was defeated, when they wish for every good person killed by Cell to come back. 17 came back. I wish there more scenes with 17/18 and Adult Gohan. Hell during the time Goku is training uub they could make a series right there with those guys in it, but that's just my idea. It would certainly help out the dbz games some.

@TheMassyl Technically 17 really is not a villain. In the History of Trunks Movie yes, but in the main timeline, he was ordered to destroy Goku by Dr. Gero (who was of course evil). Yes he may have killed Gero, but regardless he still had to do what he was programed for. Plus, he is not a robot, android 16 was a robot. 17 is a cyborg, still human but remodeled from his original human form. Samething with 18. How else did she and Krillin have a daughter if 18 was a robot?

Plus if you go by the DB manga, anyone that's evil that dies gets their souls cleansed anyway and they dont keep their physical form in the afterlife but whatever this is Toei not the Manga.
