The first time I watched the movie, at the end I did think that Ninny was Idgie but I just recently watched it for the second time and in the beginning of the movie when she first met Evelyn, she was explaining how she had such a crush on Buddy.. WHO would be her brother.. Is she really Idgie???
By "crush" I think she met admiration. Remember that when she was a little girl buddy was the only one that looked past her nelly knees and tomboy ways and didn't tease her. He was also the one who could coax her out of the trees. She looked up to him...so I'm sure she did have a crush, but not in that way.
the food fight scene is my absolute favorite!!! So thanks for puting that in there and i hope u make more because u have a talent for bringing out the char.'s personality! :P...anyways thanks again4 makin this! mmbye
I always thought it was a just a "story" that Ninny told so she wouldn't reveal herself as Idgie to Evelyn over the course of telling the story and then by the end of the movie, Evelyn has that look on her face when she looks at Ninny after finding out the Bee Charmer was still alive. At least that's how I always interpreted it.
I don't remember the scene at the Sunday school(00:10) or the one on the porch swing(3:55). Were these deleted scenes that weren't in the original movie, or have I just not seen the movie in a long time and forgot those parts?
ok question i kno everyone thinks tht ruth and idgey were in love but in the MOVIE did idgie mary grady? or am i slow...cause he seemed to really like her
No, I think they (Grady and Idgie) were nothing but friends. The movie never mentions Idgie marrying anyone. And the truth is, Ruth and Idgie were lesbians in the book and did fall in love. But if Idgie was really Ninny in the movie, I doubt it because it is said that Ninny marries Idgie's brother, Cleo...but I dunno...
Actually, I think you're right. But I have always thought that Idgie and Ninny were the same person. Watch the cemetery scene at the very end of the movie. You'll figure it out.
Read the other Book "Daisy Mae............etc", can't remember the rest of the title, but it's a wonderful book. If you enjoy Fannie Flagg's books, check out Bailey White's "Mama Makes Up Her Mind" she's got a couple others too, very very good
Some would say it's too bad that the movie downplayed those two's lesbian relationship. I say it was STILL cool because their friendship as it was portrayed was still beautiful and very believable (and strong, like a relationship).
This song was brilliant for the two of them!

idgie was adopted into the family, so buddy wasn't her biological brother.

hey, i just saw the movie and i've got a question... who is the old lady, niny? is she idgie??
Ni2Abacaxi 4 years ago
u never figured that out?
littlenikki15 4 years ago
I believe in the book Ninny is Idgie's sister in law, but the movie is more ambiguous so it's not uncommon to assume that she's Idgie.
sodaypop 4 years ago
thank you =)
maybe i'll read the book some day..
Ni2Abacaxi 4 years ago
Ninny may also be Idgie's sister-in-law in the movie as well, she married Idgie's brother Cleo...I think you may have the book and movie confused...
