the community and their beliefs are in my heart. they are a strong loving forgiving people. i left 1 week before i was to be married to the most amazing man, i was persuaded by my family that i was needed more outside inthe world than i was there. so i left. it was the biggest mistake of my life and one i will live with. was the community a easy life, yes and no. The community has been a part of me since there days in st joe missouri and i was befriended by the wonderful woman.
This cult molests kids, beats them, uses them a slave labor. They need to be destroyed. From the cradle to the grave you must discipline your children. From the age of 6 months you would start disciplining them with a rod on the palm of their hands and then you would stop when they are about one year old. From there you would discipline the children with a rod on their buttocks until they submit...
There was a time in my life, that I felt like I really belonged somewhere and had something greater than myself and family to live for. That was with these people. I'll admit, there's a few beliefs and practices I think are off the deep end, but it's a real life together everyday and they are endeavoring to be who God would have them to be and love oneanother. A part of me died when I never went back. That part of me is still dead. take care, Eric
There's been various people living communally for a long time, probably as long as there have been humans. It can be great in some ways, it can turn really bad in other ways. I've heard of the Essenes, Nazoreans and Jesus may have grown up as one and John the Baptist. Possibly vegan or vegetarian as many were, and opposed the Jewish Temple animal sacrifices. The Hutterites, many killed as Anabaptists. See Bible, Acts chapter 2 and 4.
I visited the Twelve Tribes and I must say that I was moved by the unity and love. Certain persons stuck out to me so much that I have loved them. However, as with every gathering of believers, Satan has insinuated himself into the mix.
There are many things I love about the Tribes, like how they love one-another, the healthy food, morning and evening gatherings, celebrations, and the homeschooling for the children. The most meaningful things I've ever heard shared from people's hearts, have been at the gatherings. Some there believe I have been touched by the Evil One because I have been openly critical of somethings and "listened to lies and slander" from others. I just want to be true to my own conscience vs. blind obedience
I was clearly taught in the Tribes that they are the only true work of God on Earth in 1900 years, and the only ones where God's Spirit dwells. Christianity, Jesus, and all other religions are condemned as demonic. I tried to believe these things to belong and be happy there. I also don't believe that making blue marks with the discipline rod on a child as young as a few months proves your love for them. I love the Tribes, but somethings there are so wrong, but you have to obey. You have to.
Tribes members, please know that I care about you, and wish you the best, there's many things I love about your life, but I strongly disagree with you that it was good Abraham Lincoln and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were murdered. Yoneq has been in error before, and I'm sure the Cham (black) teaching and teaching about Jews are major blunders. I hope these teachings disappear, like others have in the past. I wish you all the best in the communities.
This saddens me, but the Tribes teaching is very clear that black people who do not join the Tribes should still be servants to white people. They very clearly side with the Southern Confederacy. One Tribes teen even explained to me the importance of the Klu Klux Klan and had a portrait of Confederate generals hanging in his Tribes bedroom. No, I'm not making any of this up. I love the people and the culture, but some beliefs are very bad. I can't go back. I just can't.
I've been visiting the Ithaca community each week, and happy to see how the adults and children are doing there. I used to be a member and left several times due to my own anger issues and instability. I also said bad things about them, to feel better about leaving what I believed in. The path they have chosen comes with many difficulties, but they seem joyful to serve others and to follow Messiah. I am happy to see them together. God "has made a home for the lonely." Eric Christopherson
He'll always be Yahshua to me. Maybe the spelling doesn't matter. It's English letters anyway. I like their bread also. I found the community life to be sleep-deficient and exhausting, physically and emotionally, but felt the real love. To really know and evaluate any life, one has to be there and live it everyday. There is a loss of many freedoms, but there is he freedom of surrender in serving
one-another completely. Your heart has to be in it 100%.
These people are very giving... I love going to their bakery, and on many occasions they have given me free loafs of the most delicious bread. I don't care what they believe, they are nice, and very polite. Jesus' name really is Yeshua... Joshua would be the literal translation.
The name YahShua is an amazing topic. YHWH's salvation. Some believe that YahWeh was originally YahWah among ancient Israel, indicating the Father and Mother aspect of the Source of all life, Yah and Wah, the complete Parent/Parents to us all. In the New Testament, there are over 15 verses that point to Divine power in a very specific name, Yahshua/Y'shua/Yeshua, usually translated Jesus. Some of these verses indicate salvation in the name as well as in the person. eric christopherson
Some come to the Communities because they have no place to go and have no money. Some hope to find a good husband, or wife, and/or have a safe wholesome place to raise their children. Others want real friends. Some come to avoid legal problems. Some wish to leave their past behind and start a new life. Many see genuine daily love and experience a Higher Power. Despite some very negative incidents and failings, it is a most unique society. I miss the daily gatherings. eric christopherson
As time goes on, it will become clearer if the Twelve Tribes are or are not who they say they are. I deeply believe that if a person is interested in this way of life, he or she should take their time in getting to know the people, and what they believe about many things, and how they live. It's not good to feel rushed into moving in or into conversion/repentance. And one should carefully consider what is attracting you to this life, the true reasons you wish to join. eric christopherson
I don't support their belief that blacks should still be servants/slaves to white people outside of the Tribes. But, I liked many of the people I lived with in the Tribes.
Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Please avoid this group. Many members have left this cult.
This cult sucks away everything you own and brainwashes you, making you a shell, fearful of asking simple questions. Blind Obedience is not only expected but demanded.
If you want to leave they say God will strike you dead or you will become a homodsexual, ALL LIES!!!
Technically, the community doesn't "suck away" everything you own; you intentionally give of everything you have to the community, because you actively want to, out of love and commitment to the same purpose as the others in the community. If a person doesn't know themselves well enough to make an informed decision about whether they're prepared to live without all their individualist trinkets and 'stuff', it's not the fault of the community.
Jeff Leonard arrested in Brunswick GA for chid molestation while a member of this cult...molesting a 6 year old girl and her sister. The "twelve tribes" moved him here to Brunswick from Florida where the molestation occured in an attempt to cover it up and conceal his whereabouts....they also refused his wife a divorce, rather told her to reconcile with him. He is presently in prison.
That's your side of the story , I'd like to hear their's . You TT haters often exagerate , even fabricate events out of resentment .
You didnt like living with them anymore , for whatever reason , maybe you found their religious lifestyle to restrictive or had a problem with someone and left . People should visit the TT , meet them , get to know them , then make your decision as to whether their lifestyle is for you .
Don't base your decision on someone elses bitter grapes .
Read your bible, God will reveal Himself to you if you seek Him in sincerity. Go it alone if you must, Jeremiah did due to increased apostacy etc, so did John the Baptist. Don't let this den of wolves take advantage of your yearning or situation. They are evil...saying all other christians and jews have been cast off and they are the chosen. God wants to know you very dearly...but He is not in this wicked cult, no where even close. GOD BLESS AND LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH.
Read your bible and go it alone if necessary. I am aware the church and world are growing exceedingly corrupt...but this cult is going to add insult to injury and you will greatly regret ever finding out about them. Jeremiah went it alone to to corruption and apostacy...wanted to say that before they try to convince you you need to join the "body". Also John the Baptist. God loves you and will reveal Himself to you if you seek Him, but he is not in this cult...no where even close. JESUS IS LORD
They make you sell all you have and give it to them...leave you broke and helpless. Even if you have nothing you have to work long hours with no pay. Go to a "spiritual" meeting every morning, and you arise at 5am. If your married a shepherd is appointed over your wife and children, you as the husband are no longer the head authority. Your children will be beaten gauranteed...all ex members confirm severe beatings and even sexual abuse. Stay AWAY from them.
Obviously you don't mean "all ex members confirm sexual abuse", because that's incorrect. As to ex members confirming physical discipline, CURRENT members confirm physical discipline. They are not ashamed of their practices and make no attempt to hide them. I was not a member of a religious community as a child, but I'm certainly glad my parents disciplined me. It really is out of love- children without discipline can become terrors, which is not in their ultimate best interests.
They prey on the weak, hurting, hungry and lonely. They make nice and sweet...all love and community. Yet once your in there, they have you. They control all money, when and what you eat, when and where you can go, who your allowed to see including family etc. Claim to be Gods chosen..them alone, forget Israel or any other christian who does not belong to their cult. If you reason, question or want explanations on anything then your evil, following satan and in "YESHUA'S" WAY! They won't say JESUS!
They won't say "Jesus" because "Jesus" wasn't his name. Calm down. Nobody claims that at the time the Christ was born his Jewish parents gave him a bizarre, meaningless name beginning with a 'J' sound they didn't even use then. If you trace back the origins of the Western name "Jesus", you'll learn that this is not some huge, bizarre 'sticking point' upon which you really need to shout and complain.
For the love of God...and to those truly wanting and seeking to know and get closer to God, don't get anywhere near these mind control experts. They are not permitted to read newspapers, watch any tv/news,have any opinion that even has a resemblance of questioning the group or its practices. If you do you are called rebellious and out of Gods will they say "reason" is of Satan and you need to take off your head. No questioning anything, just blind obedience. "COME LET US REASON TOGETHER" =BIBLE
This guy is full of it. This group is not early church by any means. They say God cast off the christians and jews for falling short and that they alone are Gods chosen. Allegations of severe beatings and sexual abuse follow this group wherever it goes. Look up ex 12 tribes members online and you will be appalled and deeply saddened and disturbed. One "shepherd" told me the Jews were filthy stinking Jews. They never say the name Jesus and it gets much much worse...please don't be ensnared, beware
this is a cult and will take you over control everything , lie and remove you from your real family
