The nastiest crossing I ever had was as a kid Dieppe-Newhaven on a tiny ex steamer ferry called ''Falaise''-the ship was really rolling and it seemed to last an eternity-the decks were closed, and the view from the window was like this,but sea....sky.....sea.....sky spray, I was glad to disembark, as was everyone else. Crossing took about 5hrs. for really 'gross' ferry see ''ferry rough seas off New Zealand'' it looks utterly ghastly! was nice to watch this from the stability of land!

I often crossed the channel like this, but on smaller boats, not very funny.
