Japanese military forces are among the **TOP 10** in the world, but they call themselves "Self Defence Force" and refuse to consider themselves as military. It has been over 70 years since WW2. Japanese have so much capability and technological prowess. Why don't they export domestic weapon systems like China and Russia do? I am sure that Japanese tech would be in high demand.

With what's happening near their islands and in Koreas, I think Japanese should start militarization and start becoming independent of USA. At the end of the day, one has to defend oneself; No ally will fight and bleed for you if the situation arises.

So Japanese're better off militarizing.

Yes, they have already got some Apaches. Since the engine on this OH-1 is not that strong and structure of it is not durable enough for attach helicopter, JSDF decided to purchase Apache. Now, defense ministry is researching the way of develop OH-1 to AH-1 by rein forcing the problem I mentioned above.

Should have retractable wheel base, larger wings and two stronger engines. Remove the copilot cab and improve the flying and targeting processing software more so that only one crew is needed. Encase the one crew member in a titanium/composite ceramic shell and make the propeller laminate fiberglass/kevlar

The Japanese Wikipedia page says that developing an attack variant is an option in case the procurement of the Apaches goes south for financial reasons . . . Although I'm not sure that's really a realistic low-cost alternative. Japanese Wiki is really bad when it comes to sourcing so it may not be quite true.
