brother I am in the same position as you, When I was older and realised what i was being taught was rubbish I started to question things, I was then labelled as an apostate. My family will no longer have anything to do with me. I was a JW for over 20 years, but I have been the anti-christ for 9 years now. They can preach but not be preached to. Better off without them.
Honestly let people believe what they want, if you think its the wrong thing to believe in then so be it. But i am not a fan of trying to break others faith just because i feel it isn't right for me. All religion have there hypocrisy and all brain wash there beliefs on to there followers, but as a human you have the ability to walk your own path. By defacing any religions belief you are in turn no better because you are now trying to force your person beliefs of a religion onto others.

Everything you are saying is true! My husband and I were JWs for over 45 years. When we questioned the WT, they disfellowshipped us as apostates. We lost much of our family and all the friends we had made over the years. We did not commit any of the sins that are mentioned in 1 Cor. 5, but merely questioned some of their teachings. Yes, the Watchtower teaches no one but JWs and those who study with them will survive Armageddon. We were taught that all our lives.

Why do you thing their are so many catholic churches etc. Each starts making their own rules. Not picking on catholics, just an example. Living right is easier said than done. Matthew 4:17 is when Jesus started preaching. He taught his disciples to preach in Matthew chapter 10. Matthew 10:14 tells them to go house to house. Matthew 24:14 says this good news of the kingdom will be preached..."

I was approached by a Jehova's witness at my working establishment. When I told her I couldn't distribute magazines at our store, I also let loose that I was an atheist. After that day, I've never seen a Jehova's witness. Scary stuff

How sad this religion is I was brought up in it and my father pulled me out. He still is not the same man I once knew he still holds alot agains the JWs. I woke up (after that many years of being a pariah among my peers) at about 15 and realized this can NOT be how I needed to live my life. @bamagirl21790 I recommend the book Captives Of A Concept, get's you into the mind of a JW and has a proven method of helping him see the real "truth" on their own. Either way it takes lots of research to learn the the cult and it's more important troubled history through the many sites out there (jwfacts dot com is one). Mind control and indoctrination is very strong. If you could find out what would it take for him not to believe, or the biggest reason he believes, then you have a start point.

You don't get raised as a Jehovah's Witness, you get baptized and THEN become a Jehovah's Witness. You were a bible student of that organization, and you renounced that study. That doesn't make you an apostate.

A JW cannot leave (Even on account of conscience) the Watchtower Society without being labeled "an apostate." When anyone does leave, they cannot do so with their Christian reputation intact. (The WT Society SMEARS IT.)

I never grew up JW, but I did study w/ them for about 8 years. I didn't get baptized right away, something the JWs wanted me to do, so they thought something was wrong when I still remained unbaptized after some time. They pulled me to the side one day, and basically told me I would be destroyed, that I had no hope unless I got baptized. Now, my dad's a witness, and he's slowly starting to push me away, as the witnesses are to be "no part of the world."

Could it be that the labelling of former JWs as "apostates" is a convenient way of avoiding looking at any legitimate concerns that JWs have had, and then making necessary changes and adjustments. Looking honestly at concerns raised by former JWs requires effort and honesty. Using the label "apostate" is (I believe) an easy way of avoiding uncomfortable truths surfacing - better label it all "apostasy" and have done with it.

I knew that I wouldn't be able to deal with being disfellowshipped if I made a mistake & was shunned. I also felt that it would be very unkind & that it didn't feel right to shun someone else when I too am a sinner as Jesus said. Jesus, too, was judged & condemned by the scribes, pharisees, & the crowd that followed. I hope you don't turn atheist. I "know" God exists.
I don't think of JWs as apostates - just (for the most part) sincere but misguided people. I agree that blanket statements are easy to make, and are another way of avoiding honest dialogue.
True definition of apostate is mentioned in 2 John 9, 10:
"Everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God. He that does remain in this teaching is the one that has both the Father and the Son. It's ashame how you twist what the JW teach. All I have to say is that JW's are hated just like Jesus was and thats because were living in a world that is run and manipulated my the devil. I feel you brother! I also was "baptized" at 13. No birthdays, no X-mas, no trick-or-treat! I woke up (after that many years of being a pariah among my peers) at about 15 and realized this can NOT be how I needed to live my life. @bamagirl21790 I recommend the book Captives Of A Concept, get's you into the mind of a JW and has a proven method of helping him see the real "truth" on their own. Either way it takes lots of research to learn the the cult and it's more important troubled history through the many sites out there (jwfacts dot com is one). Mind control and indoctrination is very strong. If you could find out what would it take for him not to believe, or the biggest reason he believes, then you have a start point.

I never grew up JW, but I did study w/ them for about 8 years. I didn't get baptized right away, something the JWs wanted me to do, so they thought something was wrong when I still remained unbaptized after some time. They pulled me to the side one day, and basically told me I would be destroyed, that I had no hope unless I got baptized. Now, my dad's a witness, and he's slowly starting to push me away, as the witnesses are to be "no part of the world."

Could it be that the labelling of former JWs as "apostates" is a convenient way of avoiding looking at any legitimate concerns that JWs have had, and then making necessary changes and adjustments. Looking honestly at concerns raised by former JWs requires effort and honesty. Using the label "apostate" is (I believe) an easy way of avoiding uncomfortable truths surfacing - better label it all "apostasy" and have done with it.

"The entire world of so-called "Christianity" considers JW's apostates" <--- that is a broad "blanket" statement and does not account for individuality. I have met many non-JW christians who defend JW's. Also "so-called christians" as you say don't shun you or refuse to even sit down and eat a meal with you because your beliefs are different. Thank you for being civil WSAT- many of your "brothers and sisters" are extremely unkind and hateful here on youtube. Have a good day :)

I was speaking in generalities... Christendom "in general" believes we've apostasized from the truth!
We don't refuse to eat with non-JW's, .. Apostates.. Yes! ... I'm sure you know the scriptures where this is advised.

Hi Finnigus(?). I am so sorry about what you have experienced. I was with J.W. for a time but never got baptized in the faith. I knew that I wouldn't be able to deal with being disfellowshipped if I made a mistake & was shunned. I also felt that it would be very unkind & that it didn't feel right to shun someone else when I too am a sinner as Jesus said. Jesus, too, was judged & condemned by the scribes, pharisees, & the crowd that followed. I hope you don't turn atheist. I "know" God exists.

I don't think of JWs as apostates - just (for the most part) sincere but misguided people. I agree that blanket statements are easy to make, and are another way of avoiding honest dialogue.

True definition of apostate is mentioned in 2 John 9, 10:
"Everyone that pushes ahead and does not remain in the teaching of the Christ does not have God. He that does remain in this teaching is the one that has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to YOU and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into YOUR homes or say a greeting to him."
