Well, Ryan, even hurting Brady won't solve your woes; Cassel won 11 games in his place and nearly won the division if not for the Jets losing to the Dolphins on the last day of the season. Which begs the question: is Brady's success merely due to the system Belichick has installed?
this is one of the first videos that acknowledges that the pats like to run up the score. the majority of bradys records come from the patriots running up the score on teams that suck. there was no need to keep brady in that titans game last year when he threw six TDs in just a little over two quarters of football. i dont blame brady i blame belichick. thats why people hate the pats.
I hear ya, but as a pats fan i can tell you Bill experiments with a lot of different things when they are up by a lot and pretty much treats it like a practice.
And as for going for it on 4th down in field goal territory during blowouts - whether its 4th and 1 or 4th and 8 - rather than kicking the FG... i don't see the fuss. Are they supposed to kick a field goal to tack on another 3 points?? An offense is on the field to move forward, it's up to the defense to stop them, period.
I agree with you on the offense v defense stuff, however; running up the score is still running up the score. It may seem okay when your team is doing it, but if you do decide to stay a PATS fan after Brady and Belichick are gone and the team starts losing you will see how unnecessary and unsportsmanlike it comes off. No wonder people want to, "go gilooly" on Brady's knee when you've already won the game but you feel like you need to further exert dominance by throwing yet another TD
I have no problem with the whole "go for it on 4th and X when in field goal range"... I actually think kicking a FG in that spot is MORE unsportsmanlike.
In truth i think the worst aspect of the Pat's huge victories wasn't the relentless scoring, but that Brady was still passing pretty late into some games. Keep in mind tho, Belichick was giving the finger to all the haters for overblowing the whole Spygate thing... he was proving a point that his team was superior in any case!!
In the spirit of discussion i will clarify. You might remember, the Spygate thing began at the very start of that 2007 season... a lot of people began asserting that Belichick and the Pats successes in the past decade were a total farce, that it invalidated them as a dynasty.
Some former coaches (Jimmy Johnson for one) and pundits recognized that the whole situation was overblown, and basically implied that it is part of the business in a way... Bill happened to get ratted out.
@bobshenix And you are arguing that running up the score on a team is justified as a means of proving that they can win without stealing defensive signals?
Why is settling for the field goal unsportsmanlike? That's a really interesting perspective, just wondering how you came up with that.
Bill had a point to prove... people were questioning his true abilities as a coach. He was bitter that year, so he unleashed a football force stronger than the world had ever seen... and he didn't care how ugly it got. Does it make sense now that Spygate was a motivation for 2007's blowouts??
I am not saying it is justified per se, but I understand why we saw what we did in 2007. Post-Spygate was an important time for him to prove what he COULD do, and he hasn't fallen off yet!
if all you have to do to win the game is run out the clock, why not just settle for the win and do what you need to do to run out the clock and not feel like you have to score again?
(continued).... So if you DO remember the context of that season, it is quite obvious Belichick was PROVING A POINT that it wasn't any exceptional advantage that made him a such great coach, or the Pats a great team.
Call Bill an asshole-- but in all the years before 2007 (and since that year) Bill has never been known for running up the score in blowout.
Just that 2007 season, Bill gave everyone the finger and proved that cameras or not.... he's the best coach in the NFL. He's no fraud!!
in 2006 they ran up the score on the bengals by throwing a TD in the last few mins winning the game 38-13. they scored a td in the last few mins on the packers winning 35-0. they also scored late TDs vs the texans winning 40-7 and the vikings 31-7. prior to 2006 they didnt really do it because they didnt have the personnel but they did run up scores before 2007. if i am a bengals, texans, vikings, packers fan and the opposing team scores in the last few mins i will be pissed
And yes, i think leaving the offense on the field at the opponent's 20-30 yard line on 4th & 6 is more sportsmanlike than tacking on another 3 points extra. There are times it may lead to a another TD, and sometimes it will lead to nothing at all.
And even WHEN leaving the offense on the field ends up leading to a TD, the difference between another 6 points or another 3 points in a blowout is NOTHING.... At least you gave the defense a CHANCE to prevent any additional points!!!
@bobshenix haha c'mon man that might seem ok in fantasy land but the truth is it would really piss you off if it happened to you. imagine the colts up 35-7 two mins left in the 4th quarter 4 & 2 on the 20 yard line about to win the game anyway but they decide lets send manning out to try to convert for the 1st. yeah it might help get the game over quicker but if im a pats fan im saying fuck that cocky ass peyton manning and the colts coaches for rubbing it in.
Yes, but when your as good as the Patriots sometimes there is a blowout situation early in the Third quarter... so even if playing at home a team is supposed to literally just run the clock out because they are up by too much???
At the very end, sure. But during the game no way!!! Bill uses these comfortable leads as a "practice" to work on weaknesses or new things. In football the idea is to keep your offense on the field, and your defense off the field...
thats what running up the score is. scoring when there is no possible chance that the other team can win be arent talking about the 3rd quarter because there is still a chance for a comeback. the PATS like to run up the score whenever they can period.
running up the score is still running up the score regardless of whether it is practice or not. its ok to keep your offense on the field but dont rub winning in the other teams face by scoring when the game is already out of reach
Well they did run the ball a lot in the second half of the Cincy game last Sunday, they were up huge to start the second half and i would not say they ran up the score in that game. Plus Cincy started coming back anyway so they had every right to at least try for some first downs!!
And you don't have to agree with me, but do you at least see where i'm coming from with the whole "at least give the D a chance to stop you rather than grabbing an easy 3 pts" logic?? It makes sense.
@bobshenix the only way i would ever agree with the FG thing is if teams actually didnt try to score once they picked up that first down. if you are up late and you are pushing for a TD vs a FG thats not cool. but teams rarely do that with the intention to run down the clock.
and 35 attempts for passing isnt exactly just a few attempts it may seem like that to you because you watch the pats all of the time.
@bobshenix and early in the season you dont run a lot of plays because you dont want all of your cards on the table. if i am right you guys play the jets this weekend.... belichick wouldnt want to put too much out on film for the jets and other teams to see (but thats just common sense)
Well i respect your opinion... and agree with you in some cases like late in the game running the clock out and what not. But especially when playing for the home crowd i think it is unreasonable for offenses to literally "try to not score" when playing in the 3rd or early 4th quarter with a big lead.
Im biased being a lifelong Pats fan from RI, but Bill B. is the man and its hard for me to find faults in the guy. He had his reasons in 2007 when running the score was at its worst.
@bobshenix i gotta tell you man your go for the 1st down instead of the FG thing was one of the most interesting things i have ever heard. im glad i can have conversation with someone on youtube that isnt a complete idiot. thanks for the debate.
No problem, its nice to know that discussions/debates can still be had without someone taking advantage of being behind a computer screen to verbally abuse ppl without even making a point.
In any case, i would say the FG thing is circumstantial. If there's only a few minutes left, and the offense DOES make the 1st down they should try running the clock out at that point. I'll admit the Pats get too pass-happy sometimes.
I like the featured video on your channel btw... good stuff.
This is a great time capsule of a video. It points out exactly how much of a juggernaut that Patriots team really was, how hated/reviled they really were, which of course makes the upset of SB 42 seem that much more grand and epic (as if it wasn't anyway) and of course Bernard Pollard fulfilled the Gilooly prophesy in game 1 of the following season even predicting it down to right backup qb (Matt Cassell) and the precise injury type (the torn ACL). That's scary good, as was the T-Woody video.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
As a Bengals fan how the hell could you wish for another QB other than Pig Pen Worthlessburger to have his ACL torn? Especially to give Kimo praise... thats low
why would he want that? he's a rival, it's better when you beat them at the top of their game. More than that, having big ben out wouldn't change the outcome of a match. You don't with injury tu anybody... except the patriots. #1 hated team in the country, it's a global thing, and tommyboy deserves it. I cant laugh at an injured QB, except if its tom
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Actually I would love to see Pig Pen Worthlessburger laying down on the ground holding his knee in the incredible pain that Palmer experienced.
I guess if you really hate Tom Brady and the Patriots that much I can understand... but it was Billicheck who cheated, and Bilicheck has a policy where he forced his players to not get cocky, thats how they win, they never underestimate a team. If you are going to hate anyone hate bilicheck.
As a Steelers fan I do respect the New England Patriots and their organization. I was only thrilled to see the Steelers run up the score on the Patriots like they did to us last year and to see Bill "Belicheat" standing there on the sideline getting soaked and at the same time seething at seeing us run the score up. All I have to say to Bill "Belicheat" is revenge is sweet. Again I still respect the Patriots and their organization but today justice was served to Bill "Belicheat."
patriots are not overated they are still destroying with there 4th strng runnin back there franchise players is out brady and harrison the leader on defense is gone
shamrock, no what is really classless is spying on other teams, doing dirty hit after dirty hit ( Wilfork on Losman, Every other Rodney Harrison hit ect), the CRYING when your QB gets taken out on a CLEAN play....say didn't Randy Moss do that?
Actually no....Bridget Moynahan announced she was pregnant after her and Brady broke up nice try but there was no adultery going on. He "leaves them?" you do understand that Bridget Moynahan is a multi-millionaire and is quite capable of supporting herself? And stealing signals doesn't constitute as cheating sorry it doesn't. Blow it out your ass Bengals sucks, why don't you give us Palmer for the year so he might be able to win something in his pro career.
Really? Now i'm confused. I'm pretty sure when it states it's not allowed in the NFL rule book, it's cheating. I guess the loss of a first round draft pick and a $500,000 fine was just for no reason huh? Yes Bridget announced she was pregnant after they broke up, but that doesn't change the fact he cheated on her with gisele. I'd rather go 0-16 than to be known as a team who cheats. Pats lost all respect from people outside their fan base.

i realy dont think tom bradys that great i mean come on a 3rd string QB could lead that team 2 a super bowl he gets 4ever 2throw and gets tackeld like 6 times a year
where did i say that dumbass but ya he is cuz now tom brady knows wat its like playing with a torn acl and all that shit(well not yet but he will)so suck on that bitch
NY won because they finally adopted NE's game: adjust strategy to opponents weakness. Most have been running their own game against NE for 7 yrs. NY couldnt' win that way, and so went after NE's O line. and played to their pay level (imagine that). Results: earning a 50/50 chance, and winning. NE should feel elated, they inspired a classic. Hopefully strategy and tactics are back in vogue. PS Eli doesn't like Shockey on the field; JS injury allowed Eli to step up. This needs to be fixed..
Jealousy? Of what? Losing? IF anything you should be jealous of the Steelers, Cowboys, and 49'ers. They had better dynasties and didn't cheat. Also the Steelers of the 70's would rape the Pats. Moss would get owned by Blount and Shell and hte Steel Curtain would devour brady and his hillbilly O-line. Oh, and Chuck Noll's a better coach then Billicheat. Chuck didn't blow and then become good, Chuck was always good.
They can't be the best team ever cause they choked and lost the Super Bowl. If you lose the Super Bowl you are automatically disqualified from being considered one of the greatest teams of all time. Sorry, but it is not jealousy, it's fact.
manning is better, his 2004 season is statsically better, brady is shit without moss
brady averaged 24 td passess before moss, and then BAM. i hope moss get's injured.
BRADY KNEW WHAT WAS GOING IN THE OAKLAND GAME, SAME WITH THE SUPER BOWL. why is that all of the games ended with a field goal...............................
the giants cheated. elis bro had a mike in his hand and eli had a ear piece and his bro was telling him everything to do. and plus brady had a hurt ankle. thats how they one doush bags P.S brady rocks
Fuck shady brady and bill belicheat, Their both fuck ups, new york showed the world that without bradys o-line that all brady can do is throw the ball up and hope someone catches the shit! Did u see his horrible passes in that superbowl, him just throwin the ball up to moss... Its sad when u have to retreat to ur full back for all the catches! NICE CATCH BY TYREE THO FOR NY THATS HISTORY BABY! A HISTORY CATCH! Did u notice their was like 8 miami players in tha superbowl lol! GO DOLPHINS!!!!
Exactly you said it he would spend is time with ugly Gisele and not his damn kid. Who he doesn't even mention in Superbowl interview. Bradshaw had too. He is so conceited just like his trashy gf!!
Not as catchy as "Shady Brady and Bill Belicheat", but I still like it.
I'm just so glad those CHEATING PRICKS lost fair and square! All the Patsies were there, getting stomped. No excuses about hurt players, just a good ole fashioned ASS KICKIN, and highlights that will be watched over and over forever!
this idiot below me has no idea what he is talking about.clearly he is blind.there is no qb in history besides maybe montana, who is as calm as tom.believe me,i hate the pats and brady as much as the next guy,but he is the best i have ever seen.and having a good o-line is part of the game jackass.look at any of the greats, they all have good lines.montana, sick line. p. manning, great line. marino, excellent line. elway, nasty line.regardless, tom brady is the best in the game.possibly THE best ever.
THE BEST EVER? you might be some idiot who just have a crush on brady...or some asswipe who tries to pretend he hates brady..but in reality..lives in boston. you have no idea what the pathetic blabbering bullshit you're talking about. tom cunt brady..your idiot QB just stands behind his line and doesn't even move around you stupid fucking kid. how old are you? 10 years old? i should slap you for saying that tom brady is the best.
tom brady is not the best QB...better go gillooly in all his offensive linemen. his offensive linemen are the best in NFL. without his O-line TOM BRADY WILL BE NOTHING! he wouldn't know how to move to save his sorry ass in the pocket...if his o-line crumbled. he starts overthrowing..and underthrowing like a little sissy...like in the superbowl 42. giants defense made his O-line looks like a regular O-line..and look what happened to his sorry ass.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
lol wow. u seriously think the patriots cheat? losers. The giants should have never won. When the patriots almost had "ugli" (eli) down for a sack in the 4th quarter, the ref almost blew his whistle to end the play. So if he did, it would have been the Patriots ball game. Not Ugli's.
eli has his first and only superbowl he will ever get by luck they won of course but lucky
not even skill
asante samuel should have ended that little boys dreams but no
and for hating ass bitches well you guys get 3 superbowls a super model girl and make as much money as brady then you can talk but you dont make half his money or anything and you talking shit
Actually it should be titled "GO PLAXICO" thanks to a former Steeler of my beloved team THE STEELERS the Giants are the champs. So a message to Giant fans, Congratulations and enjoy this but just remember to show some humility to the Steelers. Congratulations on a good season and for a job well done. Justice has been served in regards to Spygate.
lol thats the point noone cares about him so we can pronouce the name how we want. For all i care his name is getsituptheassfrombellichic because hell never play
For famous hitman on the field how could you not put in Jack "the Assassin" Tatum? He injured soooooooooo many players in his day, with no remorse I might add.
Haha it's funny, cuz 10 months later...someone did

All I have to say to Bill "Belicheat" is revenge is sweet. Again I still respect the Patriots and their organization but today justice was served to Bill "Belicheat."
Stringfellow74 3 years ago
I personally think this season defines just how good the Patriots are; the best team in the NFL. It's that simple, without a doubt.

shamrock, no what is really classless is spying on other teams, doing dirty hit after dirty hit ( Wilfork on Losman, Every other Rodney Harrison hit ect), the CRYING when your QB gets taken out on a CLEAN play....say didn't Randy Moss do that?

Marinodabest13 3 years ago
Classless? brady knocks up women, cheats on them, and then leaves them. Gets known for cheating in the NFL. Yet you say Ryan is classless? Wow.....
bengalfan44 3 years ago
Actually no....Bridget Moynahan announced she was pregnant after her and Brady broke up nice try but there was no adultery going on. He "leaves them?" you do understand that Bridget Moynahan is a multi-millionaire and is quite capable of supporting herself? And stealing signals doesn't constitute as cheating sorry it doesn't. Blow it out your ass Bengals sucks, why don't you give us Palmer for the year so he might be able to win something in his pro career.
shamrock32 3 years ago

This needs to be fixed..

joesulub 3 years ago 2
Jealousy? Of what? Chuck didn't blow and then become good, Chuck was always good.
mspacman96 3 years ago
Don't forget the 86 giants they make sure tombrady would never walk again he get more sacks he did in the superbowl
ShadowGX9222 3 years ago
umm no.........
Harkins1721 3 years ago
Chuck Noll was ALWAYS a great coach you say? What about 1969, those 1-13 Steelers were a fantastic team! How about those 1988 5-11 Steelers!
Bill Belichick was a good coach in Cleveland, and he's a top 10 coach today. So be quiet you jealous idiot.
DavidReject 3 years ago
Wait why you doing this on me i like Bill and the Patriots lol
Harkins1721 3 years ago
They can't be the best team ever cause they choked and lost the Super Bowl. If you lose the Super Bowl you are automatically disqualified from being considered one of the greatest teams of all time. Sorry, but it is not jealousy, it's fact.
smaug86 3 years ago 2
You are automatically disqualified from the "Person who can form a valid thought" category
DavidReject 3 years ago
You win the cleverest remark contest... not.
Belichick had one winning season out of 5 in Cleveland so I'm not sure how you could say he was any good there.

brady is an "AVERAGE" qb his team is incredible they hav 1-2 guys good at evry position.
WR- Randy Moss,Dante StallWorth
OL-Matt Light,Dan Koppen,Logan Mankins,
HB-Laurence Marony.
DT/DE-Richard Seymour,Vince Wilfork.
LB-Mike Vrabel,Tedi Bruschi,Junior Seau
2ndary-Asante Samuel,Tory James with that kind of team HOW CAN U NOT FRICKEN WIN WITH THAT TEAM
Tom Brady can sit down and put in Matt Cassel And u would still win. The patriots lost the super bowl beacause ther stuk up Buttwipes
baconfat88 4 years ago
Exactly you said it he would spend is time with ugly Gisele and not his damn kid. Who he doesn't even mention in Superbowl interview. Bradshaw had too. He is so conceited just like his trashy gf!!

Not as catchy as "Shady Brady and Bill Belicheat", but I still like it.
I'm just so glad those CHEATING PRICKS lost fair and square! All the Patsies were there, getting stomped. No excuses about hurt players, just a good ole fashioned ASS KICKIN, and highlights that will be watched over and over forever!
THANK YOU GIANTS!!!

this idiot below me has no idea what he is talking about.clearly he is blind.there is no qb in history besides maybe montana, who is as calm as tom.believe me,i hate the pats and brady as much as the next guy,but he is the best i have ever seen.and having a good o-line is part of the game jackass.look at any of the greats, they all have good lines.montana, sick line. p. manning, great line. marino, excellent line. elway, nasty line.regardless, tom brady is the best in the game.possibly THE best ever.
killakendawg 4 years ago
THE BEST EVER? you might be some idiot who just have a crush on brady...or some asswipe who tries to pretend he hates brady..but in reality..lives in boston. you have no idea what the pathetic blabbering bullshit you're talking about. tom cunt brady..your idiot QB just stands behind his line and doesn't even move around you stupid fucking kid. how old are you? 10 years old? i should slap you for saying that tom brady is the best.

mrgentlehand456 4 years ago
tom brady is not the best QB...better go gillooly in all his offensive linemen. his offensive linemen are the best in NFL. without his O-line TOM BRADY WILL BE NOTHING! he wouldn't know how to move to save his sorry ass in the pocket...if his o-line crumbled. he starts overthrowing..and underthrowing like a little sissy...like in the superbowl 42. giants defense made his O-line looks like a regular O-line..and look what happened to his sorry ass.

lol wow. u seriously think the patriots cheat? losers. The giants should have never won. When the patriots almost had "ugli" (eli) down for a sack in the 4th quarter, the ref almost blew his whistle to end the play. So if he did, it would have been the Patriots ball game. Not Ugli's.
