Sometimes. It's a generic mayfly pattern that can represent a BWO or Isoncia, etc. Sometimes size and profile are more important than the specific colour or pattern used.
In the fast water, I doubt the fish had much time to examine the fly. It just commited to a 'mayfly' overhead in it's feeding lane that seemed to be easy food.
Hello fortunespoons very nice vid and nice fish. I live in ontario and am in search of good stream dry fly fishing for trout (brown, bow, brook) anything but am having alot of trouble finding good places to go that arent to far north. Any suggestions. Don't worry i release all the fish I catch just looking for a nice day fishing.
Just keep bumpin round in back streams off the path. I've found a few honey holes here in jersey (not stocked) for brookies (catch and release) My favorite fish, they are beautiful. I just can't stand all these rainbows they are releasing everywhere. They need to rejouvinate the brook trout. They were there first haha. Good luck fellow angler.

Research and a lot of long drives, which is how I found this spot.
