Also remember the vox is an e reader . So yes you need to kill all the process if you want to open another app or it becomes unresponsive but that's just the nature of android.
The open ecosystem is really what changes the game here. I think personally the nook is more responsive .The kobo doesn't exactly come shipped with its full potential. You need to play around with it but when you get it right it truely is a great experience. /The one app uou need is astro it comes with a process killer and file manager.
The screen on the Nook is far superior to the Vox as it shares the same retina display as the iPad. The flashing is known as refresh rate difference as stated in the video, and happens to most devices being recorded on video.
@dman529 if you live in canada i wouldnt buy a nook, with the nook you can't buy a large percentage of books from the barnes and noble's ereader site without having a american credit card and billing address. Out of the top 100 best selling books, 6 are available to Canadians to buy.
Do not buy Kobo Vox, Kobo company has the yet worst costumer service. And the Vox has so many issue on Youtube, watching video, viewing Picture and mirco sd memory. And it is unbelievably slow and require restart all the time! The company pushed the Vox out too soon and the technology on it is just not mature!
they are about to come out with a NOOK color second edition, they pretty much have the prototype already and might launch the device beginning of next year, i dont know if the word is out already but i know this cause i have connections with some B&N ppl who are not just regular employees
I am still waiting for my vox but looking at ur latest two videos on it, i cant say I am as nearly as excited i was before.... it seems to be much slower and laggier than i had expected... and also the crashing + three buttons on the bottom not responding... makes it look really like a non-premium item. maybe i shud wait for nook color 2 and cross my fingers that its going to be sold in canada?
@aycn602 I played with the vox when i was at work yesterday night, and I have to say it is very laggy and it took me awhile just to get a response to unlock the vox. I would drag my finger and it wouldn't pick up the screen. I was really excited for the vox as well, since i have the kobo 2nd gen now I'm holding onto my older kobo instead.
@aycn602 the vox is basically like last year's cellphones. before they started coming out with dual core. it only has an 800mhz processor, so it won't be as fast as the latest cellphones/tablets etc. but since it's billed as an ereader and not so much as a tablet, you shouldn't expect it to be something hardcore :P
@StringsCrusader * and actually, the Samsung Galaxy 7inch tab is basically almost identical to the Kobo Vox. The only real difference being that the Samsung Galaxy 7 inch, has a 1ghz processor.

Absolutely excellent review. Thank you.

Hello - nice review....you guys kept inferring that the kobo vox was crashing on you but didn't really elaborate.
What happens when it crashs & how often & how did you re-set it?
Also I don't think you touched on price (maybe I missed it) but in Canada the vox is $199. Don't know what the nook goes for in the States.
Any like your reviews & looking forward to seeing more.

@voodoomath Nook Color is still $249 in the US.

@RobynHode8 WHAT? $249 FOR A NOOK?

They both have 800mhz. The only real difference is that the Vox is android and the NooK isn't offically android.
