  • Christ, what happened to Killing Joke?

  • What lies behind the cross!?

  • @Lieu3C4 no lies behind the cross. be blessed! =)

  • and then n i n beginning of the end then the great cull then im off

  • an inside rush of the body

  • what a tune - great that youth back with the and you can really hear his influnec - check out my review

  • come to Berlin again and play 2 different shows......in 2 days maybe 3 :-),great band,great albums,great influences-Cheers

  • Ours to build, ours the choice...

  • It's freakin' surprising what diverse opinions you hear from celebs sometimes, and mis-interpreted as well. Baa-ab Dylan was a good example. But what really blows me away these days, is hearing all of the "Chuck Norris is so awesome...." jokes but not a single one of them even hints at what a Christo-fascist he is. It's like his publicist spammed us with this shit so people would keep sending him money for ... Gawd knows, the fucking Contras in all probability. If Bono can be a cunt, so can Jaz.

  • And yeah, you're probably right, I just don't want to think the worst of one of my favourite musicians. Certainly more as a vocalist than a lyricist, in any case. But I often overlook what an arrogant prick he can be at times, as can we all. But it's often necessary, to spark debate and free thought, to "play devil's advocate" in a sense, as to say "The Nazi's had a better system." doesn't always endorse fascism, it can be a condemnation of the rampant fascism of the commonwealth post-colonies.

  • Zionism is, at least in practice (ignoring for the moment what sorts of sweet sentimental notions espoused) a theocratic fascist philosophy. Just as Christianity is a religion of love AND of hate. Depending on interpretation, either or both. Yet in practice for much of it's history was practiced in it's hateful form. Zionism is centered around a land grab dictated by a thousands year old religious text. Why we see Zionists as better than any other terror group is because of our oil interests.

  • @SoyBoySigh love the attempt at "clever conversation".. what really matters is, is that you go to e-bay, and bid on my grandmothers 1906 wooden dildo....that would make me think you've got life figured out...still smells like her...what a woman..

  • @jodonte1 whaaat

  • Love this song. Love the band. Very appropriate given today's mess ;)

  • the anger is uncomparible .there is a REASON

  • fuck the EE

  • znakomity utwór, przeciera szlaki, zespół wszech czasów!

  • I hope they don't break up this current line up and put out a string of new albums...we need some sort of reinvention of music right now and something like this that sounds clubbish and rock - something that could easily be played in a club and people would dig it - is the sort of music that should be pushed right through the front door...

  • @HorleHusky this IS the line up original and best

  • Soyboysigh,

Instead of creating your own tortured interpretation's of the songs meaning, you might want to look up KJ interviews on the subject- Jaz is very, very, pro-EU. This song is not said with irony. Ffs, he was the composer-in-residence for the EU a couple of years ago...

As much as I love KJ's music, Jaz is a pompous windbag who loves to prophesize, yet every time he does, he ends up looking like an idiot(and a pompous windbag, of course..).

  • @thatnamesorryhas sometruthinwhatyousaythoughKJarestilagreabandandthistunecouldbetakenasa commentoncurrentcircumstances

  • to agapw!

  • I love this track

  • EUahstan!!!!!!!!!!! Hah hahhahhahhahahahah an you did not even see it coming.........like duh!!!

  • They are so great!

  • @SlavicFront88-

took EU Law at university, the EU is one of the most un-democractic organizations in the world, especially the European Commission

  • Why are the proud descendants of Plato

paying off more debts accommodating NATO?

We the caretakers of democracy no longer

    tolerate this hypocrisy..

  • read and study Jaz's lyrics, COMPHILO has followed them for years. Jaz IS a lefty, an anti-capitalist

  • I am told, by a friend who would know, that when it comes to body doubling murder, it is a matter of numbers, rather than formula or formations: if you outnumber those you are attacking even by one, at least one of you will be left at the end, if it involves body doubling. Then it may depend on the logistical support from neighbouring formulae and regions as to whether or not any real advance has been secured, or simply another group lured to a place where you would no longer simply body double.

  • I think also that the appellation "descendants of Plato" doesn't apply to all Europeans, hence this line refers to Greece's application to the E.U., and the economic sanctions applied against Greece by European economic power-houses such as Germany. One has to remember also that NATO, though satisfying US interests, isn't only America. It's France, UK, Germany, etc. Hence the NATO domination of the EU is what's being referred to here. The song's tone is ironic, pro EU yet hinting at EU faults.

  • The notion that a K.J.'s song would endorse an "Empire", or that "civilizing force" can be looked upon favourably in the full light of European global history, or that anything that "Demands Respect" is in any way deserving of respect, well I guess if that's how you interpret the song then you ought to re-evaluate more than just this song. Are there other moralities than Judao-Christian? Intellect other than Greco-Roman? Debate "required" isn't free debate. Makes you think how we were raised....

  • European Super Fascist State

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY That's what europe needs.

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY in fact you call european state a fascist state, in fact you may not even realize it's infected by zionism, and zionism is far from fascism, letting all the cultures and races mixing in the same territory , you know "divide et impera" ? do some searches

so go away with your stupid comments . and use words well when it's needed

  • @Zscheesus what do you think this track is about, can you not understand the lyrics? You think it's pro-Europe? lol

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY It is actually. It's against NATO sovereignty and for the revaluation of Europe. As it says here: "Why are the proud descendants of Plato paying off more debts accomodating NATO? We the caretakers of democracy no longer tolerate this hypocrisy." So yeah it's very pro-Europe.

  • European Super-state, Epic demise of "care-taker" fascist empire

  • heralding the demise of Europe and NATO

  • This band is still damn good after all these years!

  • @Zscheesus you already have achieved that lol you are God become animal.

  • @CentralScrutinizerxx thats too kind. Torture should precede your death

  • The very beginning makes me thing of blade runner or deus ex.

    This song kicks my arse

  • Death to the EU and NATO

  • Ale jazda.Ja pitolę!Pozdrowienia from Poland.

  • Europe tries to find a death worthy of its past.

Try to be free, you will die of hunger.

  • rock'n roll!

  • @Zscheesus social democracy is a system whereby capitalist mode of economic production is maintained BUT attempts are made to mitigate the adverse effects of capitalism, generally.

SD is not socialism nor communism, it's not a revolutionary doctrine. Maybe Norway, Denmark, and Sweden are examples of social democracies in the European Super state wooh ho lol

own definition derived partly from Wiki

  • Killing Joke the extraordinairy

  • I don't get the point with the lyrics.

Jaz has been quite unfocused since – about – 2004. I have to listen the other songs. "Hosannas" was the peak of their low, in terms of lyrics.

  • It reminds me "Aeon" from the "Democracy" album. I really like it.

  • drugs

  • @Zscheesus Part of me wants to live in Europe.. Then again I'm not a fan of Socialism

  • @MetalLabStudios Part of me also wants to live in Europe too... Then again i'm not a fan of Islamism!

  • This song made me think of British Fascist Sir Oswald Mosley's post- WWII push for a united Europe - so I went and looked it up. It makes the song that much more appropriate, in my opinion.

  • im fkn lovn this!ty for upping these

  • Very cool! I love that they're totally anti-NWO!!!!

  • i wae going thru` a mid life crisis, hearing killing joke again reverts this!! Awesome and proud !!

  • I feel so awesome to see these guys play this live

  • a cross with a GWEN tower array. Nice art...

  • Fuck the EU and all that sail in her.

  • @ModerateMartian That's it bitch, be jealous! We know we got what everybody wants :D Can't this touch, tununu, Can't touch this, tunununu!

  • @TTFLS I'm not at all jealous. But they don't want it, the EU only exists by not giving the people their say in the matter.

  • @ModerateMartian Well you wouldn't ask people to have a say in the matter if they didn't want their garbage to be exposed of, do you? Its their job to make decisions.. And sure, they are politicians, they will make the wrong ones.. But he, what else is new? If we want to keep on spreading the way we do things, like we have for hundreds of years, we need to form a block.. And if we don't like the way our ' leaders' are doing it, we go to the streets, we just change it.. This is Europe m8!

  • @ModerateMartian Here, fucking here!

  • @ModerateMartian Or is it hear fucking hear?! who cares? fuck the eu and their nwo

  • Jaz is God

  • glad they're still around!

  • The fact of the matter is that even our current mess, and bad leadership, the EU is THE most exciting political project in the history of the world.

There are plans for a EU Army, EU Navy, EU Air Force, there's already a EU intelligence agency, EU foreign depart., EU embassies, EU Police Force, EU Courts, EU judges, EU constitution, and last but not least; a EU LANGUAGE!

The EU is actually working on bringing back the Latin language, which has been dead the last 1400 years!

  • @tjobv Have you ever travelled outside Europe? Do you believe it's a Utopia? Or are you saying that your views represent an ignorant, uneducated, right-wing elite and jack-boot police state? An EU police force is a dream? Are you serious? Quite amusing that Coleman actually believes that his audience is more self-aware and possess a higher consciousness than the average Motley Crue fan judging by mindless, bigoted remarks like these....

  • @bufon63 hey i like motley crue and killing joke lol

  • Magnificent.

  • just hope Codex Alimentarius dont sue

  • Gotta love the Chorus (arty-ponce alert) It sounds like Mahler!

  • Ace, much better then the album before it >.<

what was with the lemmy sounding voice?? WTF happned there?? epic fail

  • Gloria Europe!!

  • Wasn't aware of this track till 5 mins ago...love it already

  • If somebody's comparing this to Outside The Gate then fine. I LOVE Outside the Gate. And also I love the angrier records. Well.... I just love killing joke.

  • @CaveSoundMeister Any one see any similarity to Tesco Silverbum?

  • youths back

  • Na, ez egész diszkós zene. Slágergyanús

  • Love Killing Joke. Not their best album but a good album in my opinion. Fuck off if you don't like. KJ have always been more diversed than some idiots think or like. KJ always makes a point and has great riffs with balls! Refused to be limited.

  • FUUUCCKK YEEEEAAAAHHH !! Killing fucking Joke! R.I.P. Paul never met you, but I miss you!

  • after 30 years these boys still mean it,what energy, fantastic at hammersmith, awsome album nuff said!!!

  • 7 people who dislike this are retards....

  • In concert this song had a 15 minute interlude

  • europe; canada ; usa it is all feudalism .how exceptional that is!

  • Alright, calm down, calm down. Europe and Canada are both exceptional places to live for a variety of reasons, and both Europeans and Canadians enjoy a standard of living that should cause Americans to be ashamed of themselves. Since this song is all about the promise of a new European Age, neither Canadians nor Europeans, who are more alike in many ways than they are to Americans, should have a single reason to bicker amongst one another when the future holds nothing but promise for both.

  • This should be the anthem of Europe. French food, german infrastructure, italian climate, greek monuments, spanish football team, scandinavian healthcare and polish girls. Is there a better land to live under the sun?

  • @nyhos666 Canada.

Actually, Canada and Europe are tied.

  • @Feuyaer Wrong.

  • @mikapromotesobesity You're wrong, nerd.

  • @Feuyaer Wrong again.

  • @mikapromotesobesity Are you mad because you live in a shit country? Canada destroys every country on the planet. Blocked, so I don't have to waste my time with you anymore, child.

  • @Feuyaer "Are you mad because you live in a shit country? No, I don't live in canadia. I am European, something that you want to be. canda and Europe are not tied. canda is just a shit country, even america is better than canda.

  • @nyhos666 No Czech Girls!!! and Czech Beer, We Rule!!!

  • @nyhos666 Is Poland is so great because you send all the wankers over to London?

  • great tune from Killing Joke

  • i love this band, the lyrics actually have a meaning istead of all the ''songs'' these days abou love and shit like that

  • oh shit killing joke has a new one out for 2010, when were you fuckers gonna tell me?

  • still a class band ;)

  • Loved this. Blogged the link. Brill.....

  • Killing Joke: European Super State 'I'm a Judeo-Christian morality with a Greco-Roman intellect It's the way we're short-wired ...It's a civilising force that demands respect -from the Baltic to the Straits of Gibraltar A blue flag gold star sparks a brand new empire Ours to build, ours the choice I'm in a European Super State Every citizen required to debate!

  • @COMMUNISTPHILOSOPHY Fuck me, lyrically the polar opposite of "Empire Song"`! Perhaps Coleman wants to be knighted by the Queen now as he's already been decorated by the French. But then again that was by the same body who knighted Kylie Minogue (!) and therefore speaks volumes I suppose :)

    Old Europe

    I'm a Judeo-Christian...'

  • it's a massive sound, it's Epic KJ

  • Wow, I totally just wet myself...

  • I still can't get around this new KJ release. It's. . .weird, for KJ I mean. It feels like going all over again through the Outside The Gates incident (basically speaking), don't know why.

  • @Nikkrazz lol your comparing this to outside the gate? you need to get your ears checked

  • @hellchild65 In fact I also think that it's the worst album since Outside the Gate. It reminds me of lame 80's mainstream pop. This is nowhere near the quality of previous four albums (so it can't be all Youth's fault). To me there is a total lack of aggression here and I can't feel the mysticism that some of you guys want to have discovered. But who am I to judge on that - I couldn't even feel the magic of "The Courtauld Talks" ;-) hahaha!

  • @ChameleonsFan It sounds nothing like anything from the 80's imo, or that crap outside the gate. and sure the album isnt as aggressive as past one's but you do realize that these are 50 year old guys who have haven't wrote music with each other since the early 80's, they are not going top be constantly angry, plus its nice to hear Jaz sing again, not that I disliked his heavy vocals (they sound better then a large number of modern metal bands). lol also i dont think anyone like Courtauld Talks

  • @hellchild65 Well, they haven't written music with each other since the mid 90s. Youth was on board when they did Pandemonium (1994), which I liked a lot at that time, even though I think that the following three albums were even stronger. (though I didn't pay much attention to Democracy when it came out). What I found absolutely fascinating with the previous two albums: With growing age they seemed to become even angrier. Quite understandabIy the new album reflects grief and disorientation.

  • @Nikkrazz It's pretty much the same but the music got more industrial on this record;reminds me a lot of a blend between KMFDM and Depeche Mode, very good stuff though they haven't really lost it

  • chapeaux bas... for 28 years :))

  • i love killing joke. you are the best

  • @anasalazar1 I know! my fav band of all time I was lucky enough to saw them 3 times in Montréal.

  • All haters of Joke, fuck off!

  • Comment removed

  • Good song, good album!

  • Very very good music

  • sounds like early Depeche Mode.

  • Fucking love this track. Monstrous!

  • @Jimcus Im not that into DM but theyve done some great stuff over the years-so for a bunch of 50 year old geezers to sound like a bunch of hungry teenagers from Basildon dreaming of world domination-thats a GOOD thing No??? This song fucking kicks arse and the lyrics man...thids band is so fucking NOW!

  • Some people here seem to think that they have the right to tell other people what they should like. I think that is very arrogant. I am the biggest fan ever but in my opinion KJ have reached their creative peak with the most amazing album ever recorded by anyone "extremities, dirt & various repressed emotions". "Democracy" and "Pandemonium" were still awesome but after that it seemed like they have been struggling a bit. It is to soon to say anything but this album is not growing on me as yet.

  • @Eric22 you didn't even like the 2003 record? that album was great i thought. and hosannas was one of their most vicious records to date.

each to their own but i liked those records. i have mixed feelings about the newone though

  • Comment removed

  • Ultrafuckin' awesome! They seriously kicked arse last saturday at the legendary Hammersmith.

  • Saw KJ live last wednesday. HOLY SHIT. It was fucking insane, new album songs on it. I couldn't stop fucking moving to it the whole night. Go and see them!

  • Aye, lefterovits, it's so late now and so past the point we could actually do anything about the particular political situation that 'European Super State' refers to, we are left with nothing to do but dance! Though why don't we all make it a point to act on those bits we can still influence, eh? Great song, couldn't be better. Saw a fellow in his fancy convertible blasting it on the street the other day, gave him the thumbs up. The obvious contradiction aside...

  • I'm in a European Superstate of lurve ♥

  • Wow - this is good enough for the underground and just pop enough to break through - the "Joke" may have a "punchline" yet!

  • I can't play Mass Effect anymore without thinking about The Joke. I'm not saying it's a bad thing.

  • Glorious return by these boys. Jaz still has his pipes in fine working order.

  • @PositiveLastAction Don´t ask me about my comment on "European Union... eh European Super State".... ask Killing Joke... fresh to have them back

  • The background atmospheric stuff reminds me of a recent Dark Ambient song that's been played on the radio in Estonia (@ Power Hit Radio), which lead me to believe that this atmospheric background was borrowed from somewhere, but I'd like to know from where/whom.

  • @martrootamm - the background atmospheric stuff reminds us how much dark ambient bands have been borrowing from Killing Joke since the 1970s.

  • THIS REALLY GROWS ON YOU

  • I love this band, but this song is for the goth clubs.

  • @whitelikejesus emokid

  • @Nihilocracy emokid

  • @whitelikejesus you literally know fuck all about music. go back to limp bizkit or something. goth clubs lmfao, fucking kids these days

  • @Nihilocracy You should ask yourself why you're getting so angry and making these assumptions.

  • killer lieke wie heeft ze gezien in den ab

    ze waren weeral zalig

  • Killing Joke forever!

  • Io sto godendo al solo pensiero di un nuovo disco dei Killing Joke!!!!!!!

  • this song marks the beginning of the end of eu, no future for this pack of wolves

  • Pure genius (again) from the band that has always set the standard for other great bands to follow

  • Hell yeah windmoveswater....different beast surfaces....this is beyond human....who would think this is KJ....simply genius as usual....NYC December!!!!!

  • @kingofpunk1977 I've noticed that in this and several other KJ posts you either refer to Jaz Coleman's anus or some form of 'bumlicking'. It seems to be a high area of focus for you. Maybe you have an illness. Also, 31 years KJ fan and proud so you can kiss my arse if you like as its clearly something you're interested in; along with, I expect, lots of other forms of self joy administered to yourself while you sit alone in your sick deluded fantasy world.

  • a very psychedelic sequence. Jaz's vocal melody is an extreme feeling of fuzziness and loss, portraying an uncertain future. They played it live in Thessaloniki, Greece, the guitars were far more ahead than here. I liked the live version better and we danced a lot

  • Comment removed

  • Ah, well, DoctorXeno, I regret my mistake if so. But as KJ have always been into self-reliance and extreme distrust of everything sanctioned by the mass corporate-derived and/or state-derived human id (well, the sort of id not expressed in, say, 'Tabazan' and 'Lust Almighty'), I assumed. 'Every citizen required to defend" is in the lyric. and that doesn't sound particularly Jaz-ish.

But I been wrong before this. Er, one more thing... is this KJ track its own Orb remix? Ha ha.

  • thats post punk of the future !

  • ahahahahahahahaha! JOKE

  • @878commando oops, drunk!

  • ahahahahahahahaha!

  • hold the psy trance down... no euro revival thanks... it could be... but if... will than be dead... i guess youth did experiment with the israelii sun dancers... miss pauls selfconfidens as when the sun goes down... what a beast... black romantic... not like head bangers balls... yes jaz lol eternal message last until it ends

  • @Enola645 If bands stay the same for 30 years, it means they're one-dimensional hacks. KJ don't enter this box though. They did chang/

  • One of their BEST tracks to date. Incredible. Welcome home, Youth :P

  • This tune is a machine. Should we be afraid of the European Super State? (I think most folks call it the EU, but let the lads have their head, eh). More often than not, when great powers get cash-strapped, they start wars. Got to pay for the police to keep the union demonstrators and the anarchists down, don't we? Good old Jaz and Paul and Geordie and Youth, always making it a point to make sure wehave plenty to be F'ing terrified of. Killer.
