This recording was recorded in 1931... and at the same time Mercedes Carné recorded the lyrics (with uncredited accompaniment by Carlos Di Sarli and his orchestra). I will post it to you later. And this is very well known among the Agustín Magaldi fans. Since this is in the public domain, Oscar del Priore published in an LP (among other Fresedo recordings for Brunswick) in the seventies... In a few minutes, I'll post the other version.
Osvaldo Fresedo had a remarkable career, on and off records. His first disks were made in 1920, his last in 1980. According to an online discography of Fresedo, this disk with Magaldi was made in 1932. I wonder what's on the flip side?
You obtain excellent results from your acoustic gramophone. It's a pleasure to hear.
The Ta-Ba-Ris was a legendary night club in Buenos Aires, owned by Osvaldo Fresedo (1897-1984), whose elegant society tango orchestra was one of the most famous for over 60 years.
The bloke singing the refrain was Agustín Magaldi (1898-1938), a very popular figure. I had no idea he had ever recorded with Fresedo. Your record sounds like a rarity. Delightful
@AulicExclusiva Many thanks for your informative comments - i bought several hundred South American Tango and popular records from an elderly Gent who had bought them whilst touring South America in the 1930's although some are older than that date.
