i think it's okay to use autotune, but it should only be used to fix the dud notes, and not turned on the whole way through the take, because it's hard to be subtle with it, and you end up sounding like t-pain.

and dude you should try and EQ your vocal so it sits on top of the mix a bit better, your singings not bad, but nobody cares if they can't hear it (;

@aarghsharks You're 100% right. The only way to truly sound better is to practice. It's just far too easy to take shortcuts these days.

I'll give the mix another shot soon. I was still trying to work out how to use the recording equipment I had at the time of recording and I'm not quite up to par with the mixing side of things (which is why autotune was turned on the whole way through :P ). Really should update my mixing software too. Thanks for the comment and advice :)

@ExellenceOfExecution well it's good to know you have some equipment and software at least, I did my band's first mixes using the guitarists old zoom pedal as a usb interface and mixing in audacity d: but now we have some better gear.. tbh it's completely worth it (: google is your friend when it comes to eq, plus anyone who knows a bit about music production likes to show off (; Either way, glad to have helped :D

@aarghsharks You should check out Cynic, they use a vocorder to get a subtle robotic sound that sounds amazing. Plus they're one of the all time best tech/prog metal bands out there :)

@951258tike22 I have another version without autotune uploaded. I don't like autotune either. This is the only time I've ever used it, it was only an experiment. Wasn't trying to make Periphery sound like anyone, I was trying to make myself sound better and obviously it didn't work. Dunno who brokencyde are anyway, but I'm guessing they overuse autotune?
