a quantum meter measures PPF & YPF in micromoles of photons at the leave not lux, lumens or foot candles the meter you'fe using is measuring visible spectrums not what plants require for par.
go to; inda-gro.com/pdf/Army-Air-Force-LED-bans.pdf
on the homepage click COMPARE for why the LED creates it's on problems when emitting narrow spectrums inhibits photomorphogenesis which stunts growth and yield with low wattage drivers. hign PAR & canopy penetration yield better.
This guy cracks me up! I'm cracking up, at this guy! Cracking up, is what this guy makes me do! I love how he says everything at least three times! Three times, at least, he say's everything! At least, three times, everything is said! It's the magic!
i had a guy offer me a high pressure mageesium bulb, i never heard of one especially for growing so i told him keep it since his plant was like2 1/2 feet tall 12months and no sex showing!! i DO use florecence 40 watt t-12's though. according to my light meter "made by rapitest" it measured 8 outside on a very sunny day and almost 5 under my lights. the meter DOESN"T tell you what value the light source is puttting out however.
As far as measuring ligtht you have to know that light meters only measure photopic levels of light and not the equally important scotopic values. This is important to understand. If you go to the indagro website at the bottom of the home page is a chart that lets you convert the photppic and scotopic values if their lamps that will enable your plants VEL to climb to the proper PAR values for less wattage. check it out and the operational PDF since that's what got us going in that direction.
Great vid/ We did our last two grows using induction grow lights. If you haven't heard of them go to the inda-gro website and check out the user submitted photos. We had used MH/HPS CFL, T5 and 'never again' LED. The 700 mA LED were actually ok but way to expensive. We use indagro as our primary grow lights now with 4 of the 100 watt and 2 of the of 400 watt. No heat and from germ to bud with very decent yields for a fraction of the wattage..Peace...
@natevp1988 its us nerds that take this stuff down to the science and produce some of the highest grade cannabis you have never seen... unless ur lucky, you're welcome
i got a ph meeter a light meeter such as this one and voltage meeter to keep track of how much voltage i am useing ..... dont really need the voltage meeter but i already had it so what the hell oh and a temp meeter
Plus you would be able to put the light so close to the plant, making more "efficient" usage of all available lumens. Not to mention you would be producing only 10% of the heat and power, making an overall better growroom! THE POINT IS-lumens is not the only key to light. Green light produces lumens too, but your cannabis plant can't actually absorb those lumens because IT'S NOT THE RIGHT SPECTRUM!
This is in reference to the experiment with the light meter and cloudy days/ flouros...Just because a light meter isn't reading out the lumens doesn't mean that the plants are getting the SPECTRUMS(keyword) that they are getting. Example: You can take 5 60 watt incandescant soft whites that produce 400-500 lumens per bulb, but trust me thats not better than one full spectrum t8 or t12 that only produces a few hundred lumens.
Just Bought a metor WELL WORTH THE MONEY AND NOW MY HEAD DONT HURT lol But im only useing Floresent 20 watt = 75 watts 1200 lumens im thinking about better bulbs if the cost is not crazy
led is a joke man dosnt do shit waste of any growers time grows pussy weed sry dude just my opinion cfls are cheap and easy to grow some pretty good pot
I grow with HID myself but, you as well many others need learn not to listen to a bunch of idiots saying leds are waste of time. I also grow with leds and get on average 1gram per watt. So stop being an idiot and repeating shit you know nothing about.
R u kidding me! A light meter? Dude...really?

how big of a clf bulb do u need for one plant?
ThemanHD05 11 months ago
@ThemanHD05 the 43watt (150 watt equivelant ) go for about 15$ and work good

A good quantum light meter for plants will cost around $300.00. there is not a quantum light meter available for $35.00.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
L.E.D = increased yields, MUCH lower electricity bills, no detectable heat 'so those pesky pork choppers wont steal your crop'.

hids dont cover all the bottom stuff thats where cfls come in?hids=toplight

You can grow an excellent crop with HID lighting throughout the process if you want to. I use cfls and floro tubes for veg and they work great.

i'll have to agree
