but - the thing you do with the barred F when your index finger (the one barring the strings) comes off and on again while playing the F chord, is that so that you alternate the bass note of the chord from F to E?

I think I can distinguish that detail from in there, but would be great if you clarified if I'm correct or there is some other reason for that flapping finger =)

what I was really wondering was, are you playing the strings when you have the finger lifted during the F chord, or are you just using it to mute and create a certain rhytm to the song?

I know it might be hard for you to just answer like that, but I think if you just played thru and listened once you would notice. Would really be nice, seeing as I have no guitar within reach for a week and am really curious :P
