A little reminder during the Balkans war SU-27's @ SU-29's were shot down by F-15s' from Turkey.I am Canadian and saw the T.V.show from the BBC according to the F-15 pilots one of the planes I can't remember which one was shot down 20 nm away by radar amraam missiles.
@dbear007 I recall a Serbian Mig 29 shot down by a Dutch F16 and 2 more Mig 29's shot down by US F15. I don't recall Turkish F15's involved, I don't think the Turks fielding that aircraft.

Modern missiles aren't made to hit to kill. They can explode near the target, and pelt it with debris. Aircraft skin isn't thick, nor particularly armored. This video, being fantasy, fails in this aspect.
I don't get it. What's the point of this. Why are they both flying so low above a highway in the middle of a desert. And they would spot each other miles away and it would all end up in both firing rockets into lock on cubes on the hud, not old fashioned dogfighting...

Your talking out your arse mate. The SU-27 does not have a superior avionics package to the F-15. What it does have is superior slow speed maneuverability and that is why many pilots repsect it, not fear it.

However, F-15 has a better weapon system, and the new AIM-9x sidewider, and HMS system is an entire generation ahead of the SU-27's AA-11 Archer and rudimentary HMS. In close in combat today , first missile off = first kill
question to those that know. i've played a few flight simulators and while i comprehend they'll never be as accurate as the real thing. i've always wondered while shooting from my stock of 80 missiles, does having an imbalance of missle load on each wing affect your trajectory? an if so, would pilots on the defensive know this and play that to their advantage.
@tetsiki if I'm not totally fighter jets cannot carry so many missiles at all. and even if they'll shoot one left, one right and so on to minimalize the effect you were wondering about. in my opinion the physical effect of loosing one missile should not disturb the flight a lot, because the jet's mass (and therefore the inertia) should be great enough to sort of ignore the little missile ;) I'm studying physics (first semester) and hope I'm right :D
good video. I'm USAF myself but would expect the newer russian aircraft to have the edge. The F15 is 80's tech. Of course the training of american pilots is world class! The AA missiles would not get tone so close to the ground clutter however. And the head to head would have been a good time for guns!

correction i was wrong with the fuel prices but it really is expensive, consider each mission they carries over 400L of fuel and burn them less than 4 hours in a combat.
we should not compare su27 and f15 because it never went head to head in a real warfare. also mig29 never went to a fair battle with f15. east germany once went to switzerland to test its battle capability to f18. and each other scored on par. each have their own advantage and weakness. well thats just some history, some trash talk, probably different from now. but this is all i hear though out youtube. you cant just compare 2 technology, you also need to count the man/woman fly behind it.

Yeah that F-117 shoot-down was a great achievement (kudos to the Serbs) but maybe that one example was just a fluke incident caused by something as trivial as a mechanical error causing the bomb-bay-door to stay open?
@MrFalconfly well there is no way the pilot wont know that the door is closed. a there is alot indicators on the f117 telling that door is open. b there is alot drag while leave the bomb bay open, and fly near the speed of the sound mac 0.92 would mean the plane would start vibrate. so no way a pilot would leave that door open and fly deep in enemy space. from history fact it is closed, it is monitored by serbs knowing where f117 comes and leave, use long wave radar tracked f117 and shot down.
How about we have a flight of 10.000 F-117's fly over Serbian airspace at random intervals and patterns and then let's see how many they'll successfully shoot down (still kudos to the Serbs for that feat, I still think it could have been a fluke though).
@MrFalconfly first u have to know f117 dont fly in the morning (i really dont need to why, just look at the colour), their mission starts during sunset, and when they arrived at their objective, its night. so it is hard for it be dected by tv guilded/visual weapons. if it fly at random direction, intervals and time, serbs would have no chance to knock down f117 since longwave radar only had limited view range against stealth technology.
@MrFalconfly its being claimed by the serbs that they know the pattern of f117, they did not turn on the longwave radar before f117 get to the range that they could see because f117's mission is to knockout radar stations. so under the condition that they knew f117 is coming at what time and which direction. they only turned on longwave radar to f117, when it has entred radar's effective range. well then it was shot down.
So basically we're both saying that this was a fluke incident resulting from poor execution on the part of the americans and some marvelous shooting on the part of the serbs?

@rafwarrior In the first Gulf war, Iraq flew French Mirage F1 which was flown by their best pilots. MiG-21's and Sukhoi Su-22's and 24's. We didn't lose a single aircraft by being shot down by and Iraqi jet.

@rafwarrior Crusaders were pieces of crap. However, the reason we lost F-4's in vietnam is only because those aircraft from the onset, did not come equipped with guns. It wasn't untill much later that guns were added to the F-4. After they were added, our losses of the F-4 decreased dramatically. @rafwarrior Compared to the F/A-22, they are crap. Both the Russian and Chinese versions still use typical radar. The F/A-22 uses satellite radar. UNDETECTABLE! As soon as the Russian SU-47 or the Chinese J-20 locked onto one of our aircraft, we would know they were there. The F/A-22 can lock planes all day long and they'll never know untill they're blown out of the sky by our AIM-120C missle.

question to those that know. i've played a few flight simulators and while i comprehend they'll never be as accurate as the real thing. i've always wondered while shooting from my stock of 80 missiles, does having an imbalance of missle load on each wing affect your trajectory? an if so, would pilots on the defensive know this and play that to their advantage.

@tetsiki if I'm not totally fighter jets cannot carry so many missiles at all. and even if they'll shoot one left, one right and so on to minimalize the effect you were wondering about. in my opinion the physical effect of loosing one missile should not disturb the flight a lot, because the jet's mass (and therefore the inertia) should be great enough to sort of ignore the little missile ;) I'm studying physics (first semester) and hope I'm right :D

good video. I'm USAF myself but would expect the newer russian aircraft to have the edge. The F15 is 80's tech. Of course the training of american pilots is world class! The AA missiles would not get tone so close to the ground clutter however. And the head to head would have been a good time for guns!

and if we analyze the other 5th generation aircraft (J-20, PAK-FA), they are all based in US aircrafts (F-22, F-35) here are some of them:
see some similarity in the PAK-FA Canopy, with F-35?
and wing desings of PAK-FA, are very similar with the F-22...
don't forgot, the J-20 canopy, that is very similar with F-22's Cockpit as well..
So, if F-22 or F-35 dosen't existed, yours J-20 and PAK-Fa will not too.

Sorry, but the AESA radar of F-22 made it undetecteable by other aircraft, because he can change his frequencies more than 1000 times, making impossible to detect the weapons systems activation of F-22 by other aircraft.
And in pilots relations, have many other countries with great pilots, see what brazilian air force did in red flag 2008 with obsoletes F-5!

correction i was wrong with the fuel prices but it really is expensive, consider each mission they carries over 400L of fuel and burn them less than 4 hours in a combat.

we should not compare su27 and f15 because it never went head to head in a real warfare. also mig29 never went to a fair battle with f15. east germany once went to switzerland to test its battle capability to f18. and each other scored on par. each have their own advantage and weakness. well thats just some history, some trash talk, probably different from now. but this is all i hear though out youtube. you cant just compare 2 technology, you also need to count the man/woman fly behind it.

@anandkarki2000 hmm actually f15 now cost 70million and su27 lastest models are a range of 45~65million, each time they fired a medium range missile its about 200~400 thousand and each time they fired a short range heat seek is around 85~120 thousand. jet fuel cost 200~300 dollar per gal, 20mm, 30mm cannons cost around 50~125 dollar per round.

Yeah that F-117 shoot-down was a great achievement (kudos to the Serbs) but maybe that one example was just a fluke incident caused by something as trivial as a mechanical error causing the bomb-bay-door to stay open?

@MrFalconfly well there is no way the pilot wont know that the door is closed. a there is alot indicators on the f117 telling that door is open. b there is alot drag while leave the bomb bay open, and fly near the speed of the sound mac 0.92 would mean the plane would start vibrate. so no way a pilot would leave that door open and fly deep in enemy space. from history fact it is closed, it is monitored by serbs knowing where f117 comes and leave, use long wave radar tracked f117 and shot down.

How about we have a flight of 10.000 F-117's fly over Serbian airspace at random intervals and patterns and then let's see how many they'll successfully shoot down (still kudos to the Serbs for that feat, I still think it could have been a fluke though).

@MrFalconfly first u have to know f117 dont fly in the morning (i really dont need to why, just look at the colour), their mission starts during sunset, and when they arrived at their objective, its night. so it is hard for it be dected by tv guilded/visual weapons. if it fly at random direction, intervals and time, serbs would have no chance to knock down f117 since longwave radar only had limited view range against stealth technology.

@MrFalconfly its being claimed by the serbs that they know the pattern of f117, they did not turn on the longwave radar before f117 get to the range that they could see because f117's mission is to knockout radar stations. so under the condition that they knew f117 is coming at what time and which direction. they only turned on longwave radar to f117, when it has entred radar's effective range. well then it was shot down.

@MrFalconfly poor execution yes but marvelous shooting no. for u to understand stealth, should read more articles on stealth. i recommend read the articles on "air power australia" it give u some reasonable answers to stealths to a degree. lets say shooting down a f117 is like shooting down a f16 that is hunting sam and radar sites (since usa have very low death from enemy fire, shooting one down will shock usa)

@TwinSmoke ok i cant remember if i replied to this already but, the pilots in the first gulf war were not as well skool as the americans, yes some yankee pilots were novices and some iraqi were veterans but iraqi fighter doctrine and equipment and even commonsense was not all there if u get me...for e.g an iraqi pilot tried to dogfight with an f-15 using a mig-25 foxbat. now to do that is asking to be shotdown. a foxbat is an intercepter while the eagle is a dogfighter.

@rafwarrior In the first Gulf war, Iraq flew French Mirage F1 which was flown by their best pilots. MiG-21's and Sukhoi Su-22's and 24's. We didn't lose a single aircraft by being shot down by and Iraqi jet.

@rafwarrior Crusaders were pieces of crap. However, the reason we lost F-4's in vietnam is only because those aircraft from the onset, did not come equipped with guns. It wasn't untill much later that guns were added to the F-4. After they were added, our losses of the F-4 decreased dramatically. I'm suprised you don't already know this seeing as how you've done your research.

@rafwarrior Compared to the F/A-22, they are crap. Both the Russian and Chinese versions still use typical radar. The F/A-22 uses satellite radar. UNDETECTABLE! As soon as the Russian SU-47 or the Chinese J-20 locked onto one of our aircraft, we would know they were there. The F/A-22 can lock planes all day long and they'll never know untill they're blown out of the sky by our AIM-120C missle.
