I am a captain myself. I have done ran in tropical storms in 15-18ft seas. The captain in this video looked green. He was running hooked up. He is supposed to run in clutch head on until he gets into 30ft of water then either tie up or head to the dock. Unfortunately some companies MAKE us run or lose our jobs
Doesn't matter how fast you go in the sea in bad weather, mother nature will always throw something at you. If someone thinks they're invincible, put them at sea.
why do you crew boat guys insists on running so had you all shouldn't have been running that hard in those seas! remember safety for your crew and vessel come way before the rig/platform...
Safety comes first but sometimes you have to make the run or the boat loses the job. Tell that to a captain that has a family to feed at home and needs his job. Most mariners have been struggling to keep their job over the last few years in the Gulf of Mexico because of the bad market. Especially with an administration in Washington that is doing everything is can to hurt the industry as a whole there.
It takes serious guts to go out in extreme weather conditions. The Captains and Crew of this vessel are always getting the job done and are GREATLY appreciated by the company they work for! Keep up the good work men!
This incredible video was recorded by my co-worker Derek as he and Connor the other captain were taking the vessel offshore. A giant wave comes crashing over the bow, destroying the windows while simultaneously flooding the boat. You can hear Derek shriek in horror as he feels that this may be the end. I on the other hand was peacefully asleep in my room downstairs just as the waterfall of water came barreling down the hatch that is located right above my head. What a day this was... lol
