Since there are many great horror animes I'd recommend you go to animnfo or animenewsnetwork and check it under gender. Personal favorites (that I remember) are Elfen Lied, Hell Girl, Ghost Hunt, XXXHolic and others. I lived eng. dubbed Ghost Story's (comedy horror).
