  • PLUS for a better Quailty use only png not jpg, jpg only LOWERS the graphic of an image.

  • there is an easy way BESIDES the shitty photoshit, use the fuzzy tool -softbrush- to soften the edges works wonders.

  • thank you! :)

  • ok i'm stuck on 6:25 because it won't let me put my pic on there... it won't let me do anything after i made the cheaker brackground come on it. can anyone help?

  • @sonicthehedgehog1081 Copy paste the layer, either right click and select the options or Ctrl + V, Ctrl + C.

  • just a heads up if you wanna save it save as a png

  • Awesome vid thanX, can I hav a copy of the image that u used in the beginning?

  • Hey, I've done this before using your tutorial. But this time, when I went to paint on the red, it painted in different shades of red, and was all blurry. When I attempted to paste the render onto the new file that has no backround, the area I colored red was still there, but transparent. Any ideas how to fix this?

  • Thanks for the Tutorial.

  • man , you rock !

  • Thank you man i was having trouble since im new to gimp and didn't know how to make my own render for a signature ty

  • save it as a .png or it wont keep the checkerboard background.

  • ty:)

  • Hammero, I have a question. Your guide shows you drawing around the image with the lassoo tool, clicking that button that makes everything outside of what you've slected go red, and then you use the pencil tool. But that produces the same look of the part of my picture that is unselected and now red, your pencil draws more of that but mine is just black. How do I alter the pencil to make it do what you did?

  • Amazing Thankyou so much for the uplaod!

  • @keondp I'm pretty sure that whenever you copy a GIMP image it automatically clipboards it.

  • how to get the the image to the clip board

  • dude , you are the best :)

  • Nice vid I don't wanna get photoshop cause too big :O

  • pencil too never colours in the red mask...

  • Excellent Video, clear steps, easily applicable, this my friend deserves 2 thumbs up. Thanks for the info, really appreciated.

  • i dont have the box thats on the left side of ur screen

  • i dont get it how did you open up that tab if you were puting that tool away

  • save as png file for it to be transparent....

  • Thanks a bunch Dude! I used Gimp before, but I forgot completely how to make renders lol.

  • Nice tut bro it was freakin beast it helped alot

and God is an awesome god!

  • That he is my brother, that he is!

  • Thank you so MUCH!

Up 'till now, I've been stupidly trying to use photobucket to do this.

Now my gaia will look so much better than it already does.

  • Any time mate, let me know if you have any questions.

  • @kimchidreams

    whats your gaia.

    I have one too.

    :D

  • when i make a render and save it i keep getting a white background how do you stop that.

  • Save it as a .xcf

    DO NOT FLATTEN THE LAYERS.

This is the only way I know how, if someone else knows a better way let me know. I've not done anything with GIMP or PS in over 3 months, school is a bitch right now.

  • @Hammeroftheirish

If I save it as an .xcf how the hell do I upload the

picture and put it in my sig? It just says that

it doesn't support this file type.

  • .xcf is a gimp only file, it saves it with all the layers as something difrent so you can come back later and edit it. To upload it I save as .gif or jpeg

  • @Hammeroftheirish

yes but if I save it as a jpeg it has a white

background instead of it being transparent,

and isn't GIF only for animated pics?

  • @viramont90

Gif can be for both, but yes its mostly used for animated.

I'm having the white back ground problem also right now, I just I found a way to fix it but I cant remember how. It's been almost 6 months since I messed with PS or GIMP. Give me a day or two and I'll see if I can find out how it is done.

Or you may way to try and hit the GIMP forms, they may have something faster.

  • @Hammeroftheirish

    ok thank you.

  • @Hammeroftheirish or png

  • ur an amazing tutor...thanks once again...=)

  • how did u make the render bigger when u had it on the transparent background thing???

  • Look in you toolbox, use "Scale tool" or shift+t

  • at 5:31 i didnt understand what u did there

  • That was just some time cutting so that you did not have to sit there and see me take 20 min filling it all in.

  • I meant like the cover on the box you know like madden have you ever seen those?

  • Please forgive but I'm still lost. Do you want to make some fan art for the cover of one of your games or make a copy of the cover art of one game? or take a cover of a game and make something in it in to a render?

For fan art, I've never done it but the way I'd do it is just to open GIMP and make a new one with the right size of the cover and then do it like you'd make anything else in GIMP

To make a copy just google the game, look in pics, find out and cut and past then resize it

  • To take a cover and make it to a render just google the name of the game, look at pics, find one, save as..., then open GIMP and treat it like a normal render.

If things don't work out you can always just tell me the game and what part of it you want as a render and I can make it up for you. Take me a few days but I don't mind doing it.

  • thank you this helped alot btw how can i make a good background sort of like a good signature

  • Yes you can. The only thing you do different in a background than in a sig is the size is bigger and you need higher quality pics to use in it.

Take a look at my other vids, they may help with all you need to know. I did a two part vid that goes in to it well.

  • Great Tutorial

  • Thank you! If you have any requests let me know.

  • i actualy have a request you wouldnt by any chance know how to make covers for video games? thanks

  • Like the covers on the boxes or the covers to the CD?

  • good video...more sig vids =P
