Well it took some time to find it but Tony Moran's Mix of this song is, in my opinion, the best version of this song ever. The original is wonderful; however, just like all the songs he puts his hand to, Tony makes this something even more special.

This remix appeared on a 2 CD set entitled Winter Party (1999). Tony Moran talks about it: "I finally felt comfortable to introduce a song that I performed vocals on, a re-make of the 1980's classic 'The Promise' originally done by When In Rome." I think that Tony does a great job here with the vocals. And since it came almost 20 years after the original, it gave a whole new generation a chance to appreciate it!

Tony Moran is fantastic. This remix is just a different version than the slower original. I think that this faster version is great as a song to dance to. People like Madonna and Gloria Estefan have been using Tony Moran for their remixes for many years.

it's just not worthy of the original, which is a classic piece of 1980s power pop. i generally appreciate remixes, but only if they take the song somewhere. this version is just a bit more fodder for the house dancefloor, which is both gay and straight. so can punters leave out the homophobia; it says so much more about you than the other person?
