  • All are awesum.

  • Off da hook... St-Thomas on speed+XTC

  • I'm an amateur and I am going to try to play St. Thomas in a jazz quartet... I clicked on this vid to hear a cover version to get some ideas.

    Er...

I think maybe it wasn't the best version to listen to for that purpose :-o

  • You can tell that Eddie Gomez loved the break during Gadd Man's solo. What a great rendition of this tune.

  • to whoever was playing bass that fast. die.

  • This is the most unusual version of St. Thomas I have ever heard... Really good!

  • I really need an mp3 of this,

    any help guys?

    cheers

  • Holy!

  • Tý vole,to je hustý.....

  • Amazing Steve (God) !!!!!!!! :):):)

  • @aigaleada There is no up from from there.

  • J'adore Gadd mais on sent qu'il manque d'imagination dans ce solo, de plus il passe un peu souvent les mêmes plans dommage. Dave Weckl est beaucoup plus imaginatif et aussi plus technique mais ça n'engage que moi !

  • I think the main thing I find so pleasing about Gadd's drumming is that it is complex yet accessable at the same time. I am going to try to find this on CD.

  • did u find this?

I need it for a recietal

  • The 16th note between snare and cowbell at about 1:22 is especially AWESOME!!

  • wow!!!

  • Steve Gadd could so be the father of george clooney.

(If you don't look to close)

  • eddie gomez sounds is awesome and incredible!

  • masahiko is the best :)

  • Can't say I don't hate this.

It doesn't even follow the actual progression of the song... or any progression for that matter. It's just three guys wondering aimlessly. And that bass tone is horrendous.

Yes, Steve Gadd is a terrific drummer, but couldn't he have done his thing on a better version of St. Thomas, or a different song?

  • Judge slowly, dickbrain.

This guy likely invented half the shit you play today. Second thing: don't blame the sound of the recording on the musicians. That doesn't even enter into the equation.

The solo in this tune is not meant to follow the progression. It's "balls out" virtuosity. I'd dare you to come up with a litany of form following interesting ideas when you're blazing along at half note=240.

    Overcritical, pompous turd.

  • Will now trade my hula skirt in.

  • lol @ the asian dude what a legend

love the sound of gadds snare

  • yeah most drummers now'a days overtighten their snares but steve keeps his medium tight which gives it a great fat and dry sound.

  • the fill at 1.35 is the best i have ever heard. actually so tight sounds like a drum machine.

  • FREE JAZZ!!!!11!!!one!!1!!1!

    0_o

  • This is the scariest version of St. Thomas EVER! But SOOO HIP!!!

  • gadd and gomez!? faGaddaboutit. 3 quartets anyone?

  • Sigh, the stuff that passes for jazz these days.

  • hahahaha these days? ... Gadd doesn't even have his tattoos in this video, and no grey hair! this is OLDDDDD!!!!!!

  • Funny, Gadd is amazing but no one is commenting on Gomez. I think he's definitely holding his own.

  • gomez is a Great men!!! his playing is a Power expression

  • briliant, just brilliant, all of them!

  • Holy class!

  • Gadd's Bomb at 1:18 is so awesome

  • wonderful!

  • His drumming is amazing! groove & heavy & tight!

  • el tipo mas groovero del universo!! esta muy por encima de lo que todo el mundo hace, ya lo hace todo con demasiada naturalidad!

  • oh my god they've totally ripped it apart.. but in the most unexpected and amazing way (y).

  • Powerfull!!

  • Gadd almighty!!!!!!!!!
