I love you lindsey. Idk how many times I've replayed this video trying to ear out what your doing here, but it just isnt working! What a man can do with just his acoustic guitar and vocals....
How do 40 people dislike this? Ignorance is not bliss in this case. Morons! Certainly one of the most under rated guitarists of out time. Just check out the top 100 guitarists list in Rolling Stone magazine where L.B. is ranked #100 by his peers. Douchebags!
i saw them in birmingham a few years back - this song was the highlight. in all honesty i've seen a lot of gigs but this is one of the best live performances ever. sublime
Spot on. People often forget that aside from being an unbelievable guitarist he was the principal creative force behind FM at their peak from writing all the way through putting the tracks down and producing in the studio.
I can't think of any single person/artist that is as talented in all of these areas as Lindsey.
I've been playing guitar for 40 years and I can tell you this is a command performance. Being able to play and sing like that is almost supernatural. Thank you Lindsey!
I saw him do this from the 3rd row of a very small 1000 seat auditorium last night. With the exception of David Gilmour, I think Lindsey is probably the single most talented performer I have ever seen live. His pure talent and incredible crowd interaction made for a show I would rank in the top 5 I have ever seen. And I've seen a BUNCH of them.
"So then I walked off stage, grabbed my single malt back and told him if he ever talked shit about me losing my edge again I would smack him like the little girl he is. Since then, John McVie has been a pleasure to work with" ~ Lindsay Buckingham
One fleetwood mac had peter green in it And the other one had lindsey buckingham That's like hitting the lottery jackpot twice-- Mick fleetwood lucky bastard...

Passion, heart, talent, kicking _ _ _ guitar playing, a voice made for such a wistful song. Straight from the soul. Lindsey, you rock! Your Gibson guitar is mighty fine.

thanks for posting...i really enjoy Lindsay Buckingham as a Musician...with band or solo...i love Acoustic...that's a cool guitar...unique sound...good to see him still performing.
@sbradford25 My cousin's a musician, music teacher and working on his master's in Music performance - he said after he saw Lindsay perform this he stopped thinking he knew anything about playing the guitar...
its amazing that this guy didnt know how to play guitar.....and i dont know if its true or not, but supposedly he never learned how to play guitar, he just made it up as he went....
The people who've made negative comments about the use of a capo quite simply haven't got a clue about guitar playing. Using a capo enables you to change the key of a song that you play and have the option of using chord inversions that have open strings in them that you otherwise wouldn't be able to play if you had to use bar chords. This gives you a greater tonal palette to choose from & more interesting chord inversions to use in any given key. None of this constitutes cheating in any way.
this is serious skill to play and sing simultaneously. Do something better and we can submit to you - otherwise fuck off and pretend not to talk about something you know nothing about.
@oddball1973 I think you've completely got the wrong end of the stick here. I think Lyndsey Buckingham is a superb guitar player and this is a brilliant performance and you're quite right, it does take serious skill to perform in this way. What I was commenting on above was the negative things that some people had posted about his use of a capo, saying that it was somehow cheating and lazy to use one and that it showed he wasn't that good a guitarist. This to me is a ridiculous attitude to have.
sorry mate - the youtube comment system directed my reply to you and not the Bendix muppet. I've actually seen your show 4 or 5 times at the DeMonfort Hall and a fine player you and the rest of the band are.Again sory for the mixup
capo's do not enhance your ability. I don't know where you guys are getting this from. All it does is change the tuning on the guitar. As far as the playing goes, it is no different than playing in standard tuning. Besides, do you really think the audience would have wanted to set there and watch him tune the guitar to the key of this song. Pretty much all guitar players use one. It has nothing to do with the ability to play the instrument.
I'm a competent guitarist but I can't even pull off a decent fake of this song with this style, that right hand technique. It's just frigging beyond me. The way he keeps that a-string going the whole time while finger picking a solo, it's just sublime. Who the hell didn't like this? 35 people don't like music.
It's almost the same as using the "roll stand" in ten pin bowling, it greatly enhances your ability. Makes me cringe knowing that this guy receives credit for something his little helpful tool is doing for him.
@Bendrix27 it's called a capo, and yes, he can pull off some pretty good guitar work without it, watch some other fleetwood mac videos, like his solo at the end of "gypsy." you do realize that he's only using it to match the key of the song to his voice, right? and that if he wasn't singing and was playing it in the key two steps lower you wouldn't have any complaints?
I am not an oblivious fool, but, as a guitar player, I can honestly say, this isn't supremely difficult, still great stuff, but there is much better out there. The thing that gets to me is that he is CHEATING, that bar, I've forgotten the name of it, the bloody thing that holds down every string for you, that is LAZY, I wonder if he could pull this off without his little toy helping him out. You guys eat it up like he's a god, you are foolish, he's probably used that thing his whole life.
@Bendrix27 Dude, what the heck? There's nothing wrong with using a capo. It's like you're saying you'd rather climb up and over a mountain than go through the tunnel in it. It's not cheating.
This is my new favorite song ever. I only listen to fleetwood Mac because my dad is a huge fan and I love their pop stuff. But this song and this man is epic. New inspiration is always great. Love everything about this forever! His singing is mind blowing. SO MUCH EMOTION!
@joeyh31 LOL! Thus the joke in the effortless he makes it. der. :D This is mindboggling hard. However the trick is to put your thumb on autopilot. The rest will take care of itself once you can do the endurance of the thumb's rythem riff 5 songs in a row. That's a good start. The rest seems not as bad, The constant eighth notes bass rythem fucks it up. :D
Underrated guitarist. Fuck Slash, i'd like to see him do this.
@gredangeo This is a really really advanced song. He's using a hybrid paul mccartney meets john mayer method ( I know mayer came after, I'm just trying to maybe give you an idea of songs to practice to help that thumb move independently)
If you don't know why this is amazing, or music in general, he is playing a bass line and a guitar lead and chords at the same time, rediculous.hes literally playing two instruments worth of music both at different tempos simultaneously, and singing as well, INSANE talent.
Knew absolutely nothing about this guy until I saw a Fleetwood Mac documentry on tv, and am stunned by how good he plays this! With some of the studio production that goes on it's sometimes hard to hear how good some guitarists are!
To any fans that are interested, Lindsey Buckingham has a new album coming out Sept. 6th, called Seeds We Sow. You can check out his new single, In Our Own Time, at ultimateclassicrock(dot)com/lindsey-buckingham-in-our-own-time/
Anyway, give it a listen! It's a great tune!! Peace!
33 dislikes? read as: 33 people who have never tried to play guitar, even if you don't like the song, to NOT appreciate the difficulty of creating this sound by himself without accompaniment is simply ignorant.
I'm sure you don't remember even posting this in a month but I'm jealous of this guy. he does make it look easy but then he's been playing it forever.
Sweet version. Could have done without the choking at the end though!
