It's said that you can't move forward if your looking backward. I don't think the person that said this had lost someone they loved more than life itself. The world continues on without missing a beat but you are stuck back in that moment and try as hard as you can, you can't seem to move even an inch forward and you wonder how you can hurt so bad and still be alive.
my older sister who was 43 at the time passeed away 8 years ago. she was my best friend. we grew up together listening to bob. listening to him today brings back yesterday.
Excellent song.I saw Bob & The Silver Bullet Band when his album Night Moves hit #1.They played this album from start to finish and also Night Moves.Great times!
My favorite song in high school. Became one of my daughter's favorites. She recently passed away. I know when I listen to this song she is listening too.
@Redday1976 sorry for your loss.my parents have buried 2 girls and 1 boy. i dont know how they have coped.but you are never alone & your listening to great music . music has the power to bring back good memories, fun times, good family & friends. good luck.your daughter knew she was loved and you know she loved you.your music and memories can never be taken from you.i know, ive had tears in my eyes the past 2 hrs listening to bob seger and thinking about all the good times i was blessed with
@Redday1976 ive been listening to bob seger with tears in my eyes the past 2 hours.i lost 2 younger sisters and 1 older brother,we all love bob seger,im laughing and crying at the same time.i know they love me and i love them.i have my memories and music,i will never lose them. i feel blessed for having had them in my life.even though it seems like far too short a period of time. rock on and god bless you, music can help you grieve if you let it.remember the good times.
He wrote this song about my my "Baby" 20 years early, She has a "Wonderful Life",Plenty of money, plenty of Spare time,But she is bored...All my time is spent makin' it...for her..Someday soon...We'll be on a Beach,White Sand Beach,If God will allow it to transpire,We are so ready to spend some of it,It's only Money
This live version is so much better than the album's version. It almost sounds like a different song. It's a beautiful song. Seger is such a brilliant songwriter. He just oozes talent.
I have great memories of being 9 yrs old...jammin' to this song. I think Bob Seger is one of the greatest singers from back in the day. Classic. Bob still lives in a Suburb of Detroit.
My mother and father named me after this song in 1980. It reminds me of how things use to be. It will never be the same. Things were suppose to be different.
@Jody2990 Hang in there...things can be different. Maybe not the way you thought they're supposed to be, but certainly different if you want them to be.
I'm so sad......We just lost our Jodi Girl June 22, 2010. Taken away from all far too soon, only 47. Leaves behind two fantastic beautiful young women. The Good Lord took a Diamond this time. We miss you.................
@oneshot5072 Saw this tour, but different venue in mi. Great memory, even tho my mom had to drop us off and pick us up - we were too young to drive. Speakers to the sky, lol.
The friend that I went with was also taken too soon, last year, at age 46.
I am so sorry....my Jodie Girl is now 44...and I am so grateful to have her still close to me. I can only imagine your pain; may God Bless and keep you and yours safe until you are with her again. JodyGirls never go far as they always live in our hearts and memories.
@oneshot5072 hey man my mom loved bob seger and she just passed march 14 2011 and song is so close to my mom and it was like written for her or something
My mom bought me this album when I was 16. Still listen to it on my MP3. Drive my kids crazy every time a Bob Seger song comes on the radio. Turn it up. Thank you mom for the best music. It just makes me feel good.
God, I didn't know this one. It is now a favorite, and will go on the playlist for my wake. Greatest singer-songwriter of my (or any other ) generation.
Funny, this was the FIRST Seger song I fell in love with. :)
Listening to it on repeat while laying out on my lawn in the middle of the night counting shooting stars during the summer into fall until it got to cold.
Man takes me back home to southern Indiana...cruising back roads with the bros, 75 Challenger screaming towards some the lake...chilling witht he girls, just having fun, not worrying about a damn thing except the next party.....good times to be cherished!
best times of my life you go on but you go back to the good times

"didn't he put you on a pedestal..."
You rock, Charlie!

@paulf0403 Yes, a tip of the hat to Charlie, who provided some fantastic background vocals to this album. It's tragic what happened to him.
