this openng is hip beyond belief..surprised it didnt quiet the room it was so casual and solid - i'm here because of bb part in charles earland front burner
I'm located in the West Coast now but I used to love seeing this trio at Pete Millers. Dennis is a great guy and offered to teach me but I was never able to work out my schedule back then. Bobby was real cool but didn't seem to have patience or time for my squareness and naivety back then. I still loved sitting and listening to his group though. He once asked if we had any requests, no one spoke and I mentioned take 5 and he bit my head off. That was a life lesson I guess.
this is so bad, this has every bit of the spirit of Monk and all the old masters ebbing and flowing from every beat and every note played, mostly the vibe though
i saw bobby with sonny rollins last year and let me tell you, there are few guys that are carrying on this style of jazz guitar playing and he's got it. Check out his stuff with the deep blue organ trio
We saw Bobby Broom play last November as part of Sonny Rollins' band. Loved it. We'll see him again this September at Carnegie Hall, at Sonny's 50th Anniversary concert. Can't wait!

I know this guy for some R&B groovy stuff which came out in the 80s (ish). I didn't know he could play like this. Where have I been?

Thanks for the clip. I was at music school with Bobby in Boston over 20 years ago. He was a bad dude then.
