If you don't like the idea of killing Leon the play as Army Spec Ops thats what me and my friends plan on doing, if only they would release details on them.
The Developers have stated in interviews that you CANNOT change the RE storyline. Leon's death is most likely determined by choice, like how things would happen in past REs. For example, the canon ending to RE1 (Chris, Jill, Barry, Rebecca survive) can't actually be done in-game, you can only have 3. And in RE2, a homoligation of ClaireALeonB and LeonAClaireB is the canon, though CALB is closer to canon. My guess is Leon's death is determined by your choices.

Now lets just hope the horror in this game is good.

Although Leon is only a rookie in this time frame, the simple fact that he survived the entire incident is a testimony he must have an ENORMOUS amount of natural abilities and skill. Within the cannon, he managed to overcome zombies, Cerberus, a Tyrant, and a G-Infected Berkin, while still only being a rookie. If he were to fight someone, one on one, I think he would have a chance against them. At some earlier point in his life, he must have had intense training.

Actually, considering the uss raccoon city vs spec ops, i think this might be some kind of multiplayer mode, spec ops defending leon, umbrella attempting to kill him.

ladies ladies remember this game is not apart of the main story of resident evil and cod?!? do agree with deathmetal this game looks more like the old ghost recon games but besides all that its a second time line that will split the univers up a bit you kill leon and it will have an impact on that world and maybe future games why is it everytime a game comes out all ppl can do is see the bad rather than the good?

@aminoacid1648856 thats not true. If you havent noticed. What games allow you to play a cop? Not many. If anything the "good guy" is a civillian or army personnel. RE 2 (and the others with leon) used to be one of those games where you were a kickass cop killing zombies and Umbrella personnel.
Compared to so many games where your a bad guy like GTA, Saints Row ,and soon to be Payday.
