@ManOfBamboo You also forget the fact that WITHIN the black community, darker skinned blacks are treated much worse than the lighter skinned black. Just a real life example is in American ORPHANAGES where black couples pick the darkest baby last because they think the lighter ones would photograph better - that's according to one black adoptive parent.
Classing yourself as mixed does not mean that a person does not want to be Black. It means that a person wants to acknowledge all of who they are, not just a singular race. Identifying as mixed-race is embracing all of a person’s cultures, heritages and backgrounds. It has nothing to do with the denial of the Black race.

My girlfriend (a dark skinned black girl) is actually the person that first called some black girls out for saying that I had self-hatred issues (due to my decision to FULLY acknowledge my biological heritage). Even if the concept of race does scientifically exist (and we do not know if it does), I know for a fact that I am not going to disown my black side OR my white side in favour of pleasing ANYBODY...

@ManOfBamboo You also forget the fact that WITHIN the black community, darker skinned blacks are treated much worse than the lighter skinned black. Just a real life example is in American ORPHANAGES where black couples pick the darkest baby last because they think the lighter ones would photograph better - that's according to one black adoptive parent.

Classing yourself as mixed does not mean that a person does not want to be Black. It means that a person wants to acknowledge all of who they are, not just a singular race. Identifying as mixed-race is embracing all of a person’s cultures, heritages and backgrounds. It has nothing to do with the denial of the Black race.

Regardless of how society sees you, you should be able to form your own identity. The society does not truly dictate who you are, only how you think/feel about yourself. hope that helps

However I embrace both sides of my culture and was raised to embrace both and learn about both cultures.
