Say what you will, a good song will sound good regardless of how it is played. That being said, when bluegrass is done well, it reveals the true heart and soul of a song. This is a shinning example of such a song. Thanks for posting this.
You need to get out there and listen to some of the really strong minor harmonies and the the subject matter of non-commercial, traditional bluegrass. It makes old school country songs about booze, murder, wifebeating and misery seem like nursery rhymes.
theyre actually pretty good but i think they should leave the emotional songs like fade to black, the unforgiven, type stuff alone because i really dont think they capture the essence of the song, i mean i feel like the banjo here makes me feel like idk should i be laughing while i cut my wrists ? lol
obviously i dont slit my wrists thats an emo's job but u guys get what i mean
This couldnt have been a bluegrass song first and metallica could have been the ones that did the rock remake.THIS LYRICALLY sounds country or blue grass more so than metal......and how freaking great is this?FANTASTIC!
Excellent, perhaps Iron Horses' best as far as catching the lonesome desperation of the original. The eary depth of the chorus is brilliant. You HAVE to sing along. This cover would have been apt and successful 70 years ago.
This is the only cover of Fade To Black that gets the opening line right "Life it seems will fade away" every other band says "Life it seems to fade away"
Thanks for doing this music in this style. You're mixing it up in the best way. I am most grateful for thee and thine and stuff. Keep up the good work. I am going to check out the interview with Kirk Hammett next, and then some more songs!
Bluegrass isnt just hick music. Its all good. Great tribute to Metallica. Where can I get a Cd of this. And if you ever need a dobro player hit me up!!!!
This is a great band. I heard this on Project Playlist when I was looking for Metallica, and it really took to me after listening to it.
I'm definately going to give these guys a look-up.
Excellent cover. Covers are always done by the same genre, and usually sound terrible, but I find a kind of pleasant and different view when you guys play this song.
I have listened to a few songs from the album and they have all been amazing - Fade to Black is no exception. Rock on my long-bearded, finger-picking, foot-stomping brothers.
Interesting playing because this song has so many tempo changes and iron horse still had it sound very country......this is a great sound and man all the metallica covers they do sound so sad.....
metallica is fuckin awesum....its influenced so many 2 play sngs of deir on such a wide array of instruments.....its nt jst abt metal...\m/..i knw d horns r nt reqd bcos its nt jst abt metal bt den who cares.....
That ain't Metallica though it's Fade to Bluegrass a band who made a cover of a Metallica song though but ya i agree the combination of the two are great, Metallica is all over Epic =)
