Just so we are clear, whoever said below that UCLA is harder to get into than USC, is either:
1. A UCLA student; or
2. A USC reject
The facts of the matter are, the entering class at UCLA has a slightly higher GPA (.19) and almost identical LSAT/ACT scores. Gone are the days where UCLA was considered a better school than USC.
However, USC accepts less of its applicants than UCLA. Therefore, USC is harder to get into then UCLA.
Flournoy to Ucla? Best wide receiver and kick return man in L.A. City is now considering UCLA...yes! He'll be with pals Knox and Carter and play a lot as a freshman. At SC he'll sit for a year or two. Finally Ucla is waking up and focusing in on home grown talent.
UCLA is a lot harder to get in that usc. a lot of usc's athletes cant get into ucla. after stanford ucla is the hardest school to get into academic wise in the pac 10. ucla needs to lower their academic standards some
BTW, Pete Carroll was at this game (will post soon) and i hyped De'Von to him..."natural athlete found in gym class, yada yada"...he seemed to like him.
Yo WurdOfMouf, I hardly think we were responsible, BUT, we did point him out a couple times to Pete (at different games)...this time, we told Pete to watch out for him and, I swear, a couple minutes later he made this big play...made me look good. Now I'm sorry cause I'm a Ucla alum...but i do like Pete Carroll.
Actually I doubt that since De'Von came from gym class to Freshman/Soph team, moved up to varsity after only a couple games...this was in 2006...? when I pointed him out Pete he didn't know him at all but in 2007 when I pointed him out again and he scored on big kickoff return I told Pete he should have listened to me last year. At end of 2006 I again pointed him out at City Championship game, where he did well. Not that it really matters. BTW, we sent tape on Jordan Farmar to Ucla in 2003.
You're entitled to your opinion, not saying we had ANYTHING to do with the kids commits, just citing facts that we pointed a kid out or sent reel...we have made hundreds, literally, of highlight reels for kids who need them, not just the Farmars and Flournoys, placed many kids on Rivals too...so know who you're talking too before you go hurling insults and wurdofmoufing your opinion as fact. We have tape of interview with Pete @ Canoga High...Taft_vs_Shaw, 1st game of 2005.
Really? But all the good QB's are headed for Ucla and Norm Chow. He may want to reconsider, esp. since DC and Milton are Bruins...ok, Milt went to ND last week-end, but i think he just wanted to take a trip...he has a verbal commit to Bruins...will he honor it? We say YES.
Barkley is an outstanding prospect, no doubt, but he's got a whole year to think about where the best QB coach works...uh, Ucla!? Phone call Matt...it's some guy named Chow.
Yea, but Norm Chow would only be there for Flournoy's Freshman year anyway, so what's the point. UCLA is still just going to be UCLA. Be Happy you have basketball. Hopefully Kevin Love (I do think he's a really good player, by the way) can step it up at the Galen Center.
After two yrs., assuming things work out, Ucla will make Chow an offer he cant refuse. Yes, Ucla will still "just" be Ucla, a beautiful campus and home to Jackie Robinson, Rafer Johnson, Bill Kilmer, Ralph Bunche, "big Lew" Alcindor, Bill Walton, Mo Drew, John Wooden and the first University to have achieved 100 National Championships. Not too shabby, but that's "just" Ucla...continued excellence and now a great class of '08 ballers...watch what happens!

Haha all the good QB's are going to UCLA my ass. We just got Matt Barkley, the first ever non-senior to ever win Gatorade Player of the Year.
