  • so true, ray is a hottie

  • You can't do this to me!

You don't know what I can do...

  • why didnt the mom call 911 when he said i am going to kill you & banging on the door

  • 7:04????

  • am i the only one who notices thats in every movie if the dad left the family the kid was 2 when it happened. It's always "he left when i was 2."

  • @TheJazzyjaz2009 lol so true

  • @TheJazzyjaz2009 terrible two's. There is a connection. lol

  • she is so beautiful. I wish I looked like Alison Lohman!

  • she was in her 20s in this movie. but she looks 15

  • I like Astrid's character in this, she is so naive, it makes you just want to help her!

  • @Hellotisme

That's what life is like for the unwanted teen. can't be an adult. but is one in their minds.

best thing for her would have been to let her do her own thing. get a job, or a boyfriend. they got her a freak foster family, and sent her to a crime factory sorry, "kid's home" instead.

it would have been kinder to just leave her alone. she probably would have been able to look after herself.

  • @hezziattubeyou

Yes, that makes sense. It seems like she just needed a good friend (like Paul) from the beginning, rather than all the crazy foster care.

  • I wish they'd had a real affair in the movie too, it feels stupid now that Astrid is set like victim here.. In the book she was nothing like victim..

  • @BlueBallerina

They are. it's just implied, rather than showed.

  • @YouAverageGirll

Yea in the book they have an affair. That's why she shoots her, she knew what was going on.

  • @Cuteblondie1972 In the book she pushes herself on him.

  • I thought she's 15 or so...in high school

  • @0opium yeah :)

  • Robin Wright dresses like Peg Bundy lol

  • That girl is SO pretty!

  • in book ray was more uglyer and older :D that´s how i did imagine him! :P

  • @Ladylicios me to hes to young in the movie

  • "my mather"

  • aahhhhhhhhh you bloody bitch

  • Does anyone know how to stop the automation, the queue? I want to watch this at my own pace ... Thanks in advance for any replies. I can usually figure this stuff out by myself, but for some strange reason, I just can't seem to get it right ... Grr ...

    Cheers,

    B.

  • NEVER MIND ABOUT THE QUEUE! I FIGURED IT OUT, FINALLY, THANK HEAVENS!

Phew, that was annoying, but so glad I keep pluggin' along until I either fix it, break it, convince it, or confuse it ... LOL!

    CHEERS,

    BROOKE

P.S. SORRY 'BOUT THE ALL CAPS. I'M JUST SO EXCITED!

  • i think everybody who watches this movie can relate to it in some way lots of people are like ray and the slut blonde mom

  • omg thats robin wright as the trashy foster mother

  • omg I know where they're shopping for clothes!!! I've been there. This is so weird, to see it in a movie! hahahahaha

  • damn ray looks so good working on that car with his shirt off..

  • @veexxxronica hell yeah he does whooooo!!!!! :)

  • Star is nuts, no wonder Ray when crawling after Astrid since she was sending out the wrong message.

  • no offense hate people that use the bible to lecture people

  • @THEQIR I grew up with a mother like that

  • @MiyahSummer - How do you feel about your mother now, the way you grew up with the Bible always being "thrown in your face?" Are you a Christian or otherwise, meaning are you in another religion, like, say, Catholicism? ... Just curious, and of course, you don't have to reply. My brother is always "preachin' the gospel," always! Heehee!

  • I love this movie!

  • so does astrid have an affair with ray??

  • @babymonkeygurl In book yes.Here too I guess ;)

  • You know Ithink they hired great acters; maybe not what the book described but I never thought the book was very honest with its characters. I find this Star was more real, and I couldn't believe Astrids experience as a molested child was possible. I think Astrid would have not enjoyed the sex at her age it would hurt her

  • You know Ithink they hired great acters; maybe not what the book described but I never thought the book was very honest with its characters. I find this Star was more real, and I couldn't believe Astrids experience as a molested child was possible.

  • @DanieleDevastation

I completely agree! Make 'em beautiful and the story will just carry itself. This could have been the most epic movie ever, but once again, the movie doesn't live up to what it could have been. Some of it is great, but some of it is so off.

  • at 4:46 does she have weeds in her hair?

  • I feel so bad for children in foster homes...seriously. I see/hear about rape and neglect. It's so sad! :(

  • ugh.. i hate those bible addict idiots who think everyone's in the wrong and that they're the best when they themselves fucking sin as well.. slut!

  • loveub, it gets worse in the novel. and yeah, ray's casting sucks. i was thinking of an older, less attractive paul rudd. someone more lovable than this guy. robin wright penn, however, is amazing! she totally fits the role.

  • The woman who plays Starr is actually a really good actress.

  • "don't cry, we're not like that, we're the vikings, remember?" :D she is beautiful <3 skjønnheten selv

  • whoo hello ray.

  • Michelle Pfieffer was made for this role. M-a-d-e.

  • Shes supposed to way trashy and super curvy.... phsycially, robin is way off

  • i love this film, michelle pfeiffer is brilliand in it!

  • she's meant to be 14 in the movie XD

  • @Cuteblondie1972 if you had a peice of art and someone wrecked it or got rid of it then trust me you'd be livid. They did for revenge because they way he was treatin her mom. (sleeping with her but no commitment.)

  • @HannahHeartStruck well his manuscript was his art is what i mean. And thats why he was so mad. They were just trying to get revenge.

  • woooow, can't believe she was 23 at that time. She looks SO much younger!

  • I LOVE THIIIS!!!!!!!!!

  • The book is so much better

  • @cruelladagray Althought this is a pretty good version for a movie

  • omg they are so hicks no offense and the mother omg she is one of those hypocritical jesus freaks......and don't get me wrong i believe in God but i hate hypocrites

  • cole hauser is gorgeous

  • What is that flashback she keeps having at 6:14? When did that take place? And why is Barry trying to kill Ingrid? Also, I thought she killed whim by poisoning him with oleander not by stabbing him.

  • @LexiixoxRoxx Astrid and Ingrid permanently deleted the majority of his upcoming manuscript, and she did poison him.

  • It looks more like she stabbed him though. And when does that take place in the film? After she visits him and learns that he had a date with someone else?

  • @LexiixoxRoxx She deleted his stuff. He visited her house and wanted to confront her. She stabbed him and he left. She killed him later on, by poisoning him with oleanders.

  • that bitch is gansgta..he broke her door window and she stabbed him like nothing lol

  • @hmyna87 i so agree wit u... that is one hell of an artist.. that cheater deserve it... and so much more...

  • Her mom is delusional. So sad.

  • I liked Robin Wright Penn's performance..

  • Cole Hauser ! humm humm

  • The scene where Astrid sobs in Ingrid's embrace at 7:48 has always stuck out in my memory.

  • The scene where Astrid is crying and hugging her mom brings tears to my eyes.

    She is a brilliant actress

  • 5:02 aww she looks adorable

  • the book is incredible.

  • michelle pfieffer (spelling?) was so amazing in this movie.. i admire her strength :)

  • i saw the movie like an hour ago and it was really good, and i just found out theres a book, and im a reader, but idk if is worth reading the book when i already saw the movie, what do u guys think? let me know please

  • dude READ the book! its wayyy better. the mom is suppose to be a poet not an artist. its worth the time..trust me!

  • oh and theres ALOT more in the book including details.

  • I saw Twilight before I started reading the books. And I love the books. I think you should read the book because there is a lot more details in the book and it's better than the movie.

  • @BellaBlackCullen7

    The Book is more amazing.

  • I watched this film years ago and barely stumbled upon the book last week. I am seeing there are many missing parts but I love this film.

  • read the book! it's amazing!!!!!!!

  • @BellaBlackCullen7 the book is about five thousand times better than the movie so read the book.

  • i recommend you read the book the movie is great but the book goes even more indepth into the characters even many of which had to be condensed or deleted for the movie

  • the book is sooooo much btr than the movie.

    :P obv :P

  • the little kid is in degrassi now!!! He used to be such a cute little thing what happened to him!?!?!?!?!!

  • one of my favorite movies

  • 2:16-2:48

    poetic

  • damn ray fucks a 13 yr old. ummmm...sick much? this movie makes me appreciate my life.

  • @loveub88 she's actually 15 well not that it makes any difference

  • @loveub88 maybe sick.. but he is sweet ;p

  • @loveub88 but isnt it consentual? It's not like he forced her, correct if im wrong. I mean it doesnt make it right, but if she wanted to and let him, then its not entirely his fault. But i haven't read the book, so maybe in the book he forces her, i dont know.

  • @loveub88 I think Astrid is supposed to be 15 if you follow the timeline...But still.. pretty sick. Lotsa sickos in the world. to the original poster, thanks for putting this up, this movie is great!

  • @loveub88 Well she's 15 when the movie starts, so she could be 16 at this point of the movie.

  • Does this movie skip parts? Cause int he book, I rememeber so much more happpening.

  • Yeah, it skips the Olivia part and one other. I'm reading it right now. So good.

  • Yes, it does. Olivia Johnston, the Turlocks, and Amelia have been left out of the film.

  • hmm feels like the movie kinda is just zooming along I mean yes there are key parts here but feels like its going along to fast specially with ray

  • i love this movie.. but what ppl dont realize is foster care is worse i was in 33 placements in 4 years. so if she was only in 3 home in 3 years thats awesome.

  • well in the book she was she was in like 7 or 6.

  • the best part of me is well hidden

  • I don't know if I imagined it or if it was actually a description in the book, but I had thought that Star was more of a matronly woman. A larger, fuller chested mother figure; you know?

....She seemed a little more trashy to me also. Sweet, but trashy and more motherly. She's too beautiful, maybe that's it. Lol ah well, no need for me to be picky.

  • You're right, in the book they describe her as having the body of a pin up girl but a more masculine face. Several of the characters in the movie are different than in the book, it bothers me a bit too...lol.

  • Like Ray, he's hot in this movie. In the book, not so much.

  • LOOOL ur funny i like u already :P

  • @BipolarSarah

I think you're right about the perception of Star from the the book's description of her. I haven't read the book personally; however, I've read other comments to that same effect, about Star being "trashy." Anyway, I thought I'd reply even though your comment is seven months-old, and you probably forgot you even wrote that. LOL!

    Peace =)

  • @BipolarSarah I thought so too. I imagined her from the description a little heavier, mostly on top.

  • Yea same here. Just like Claire was supposed to have dark hair.

  • @BipolarSarah that's a good point... i've read the book a billion times and i never thought of star as much of a mother figure until you brought up that fitch always mentions her very feminine figure. thanks! three cheers for new insight!

  • @BipolarSarah Yeah no kidding...she's the princess bride for crying out loud.....JENNY! Her roles are always glamorous.....and the target of this deep love....they did that in loiita....they cast Melanie Griffith as Mrs Hayes.....give me a break in real life most men would be delighted to have either one of them.

  • @BipolarSarah

    Hollywood for ya lol

  • Woah, Carolee looks like she's 30!

  • Its the mom jeans lol

  • Ha ! this video is pretty good actually!

Thanks youtube for not deleting it !

Other wise it would have been a shit wreck without part 3 my fav!

  • Ray is so cute!!

  • AGREED ! :D

  • Aww Davey breaks my heart

  • I read the book it was great

  • i was only going to watch the trailer and here i am.. winding up watching the whole movie lol

  • I like her

  • I love her!

  • the sex scenes in the book are pretty explicit.. i mean, the movie didn't need to SHOW the scenes, but the fact that they didn't really show the connection or whatever between astrid & ray in the film, just makes the book that much better.

it's not just that either. they left out alot of other stuff.. they shouldn't have taken out marvel.. and olivia.. hmm. but, nonetheless, alison lohman & michelle pfeiffer are phenomenal in this movie.

  • you are so right .... but you know what they say.. never judge a book by its movie...

  • the book was soooo much better, I've read it several times.

  • i love this movie......but god ray is sucha creeper and the "sub mommy" is a 360 degree hoe!!!!!! lol

  • oh my gosh..Ashtrid looks soo young...

  • Oh, this flirting between Astrid and Ray just kills me. Uncomfortable.

  • This is nothing compared to the book. In the book they were having sex a LOT, and Astrid was usually the one who initiated the flirting. This is actually quite tame.

  • awe she so likes ray.

  • they were sure doing it really harddddd!

  • ughh i know! it's so obnoxious!

  • i have a feeling that stars boyfriend is going to try to rape astrid.... just a hunch..

  • Nope

  • No she sleeps with him on her own... she does it a couple times.. at his job, in the house, he knew it was wrong.. that is why Star shoots her... poor kid...

  • in the book ray was old hehz

  • god Ray is HOT in the movie. I imagined him as this gross old dude in the book

  • I know, right? I understand the visual medium and needing a pleasing image, but some things should have remained.

  • is this book too mature for a 13 year old to read? it's kinda scary how astrid's mom was soo calm and cool when she killed that guy. no remorse or anything

  • yeah...i'd say its too mature for anyone under 15 or 16

  • why is that banging on the door? who is that and why is that happening?

  • Astrid was thinking back on when she lived with her mother. her mother was having a fight with her ex-boyfriend(the guy who was banging on the door), and the reason for the fight was because Ingrid (Astrid's mother) broke into his house and deleted his entire hard drive.

  • when did she broke into his house? Did she kill him when they drove to his house to find out that he has a date?

  • READ THE BOOK.

  • No, it was after. Read the book, or at least the wikipedia entry.

  • read hte boook !

  • Ugh God ... Star reminds me so much of my music teacher .. -Shudder-

  • i dunno about you guys, but this film is what's making me wanna read the book - although i might be too old for it.

like i said for part 2, i STILL don't believe they'd let peeps like that bible thumping ex-crackhead adopt a child, let alone 4, and in the meantime the girl's mom is in prison for offing some useless man.

  • you'd be surprised at where some kids end up and at who they let keep them...

  • No, read it, there are more characters in there than they talk about in the movie, and it is a really good read!

  • The process for being a foster parent is much different than adoption. A lot of the time people just take kids in to earn some extra money. It's sickening! I've known so many kids that ended up in a worse situation than where they were origionally.

  • 3:50 i agree

  • if i ever wore a cross neclace my mom would freak out

  • they should not have left out marvel and that whole ordeal.... that was a major part in the story.......

  • Whos marvel? Can you tell me what happend? :).

  • Comment removed

  • oh, I remember know, i can kind of see why they left that ought of the movie, its a bit disconcerting!

  • Oh, ok thanks!

  • what? I dont remember that

  • God this is all happening so FAST! I'm expecting to meet Paul Trout in the next part, shees...

  • oh my gosh i love this movie! it is one i could watch over and over!

    kinda like the movie 13

  • Is it me or does this movie cut out alot of key details, alot has been taken out from the book, i find the book way better too much has been taken out, and it seems out of order.
