You can paint something on one layer and then something on another and what you painted on the second, you could hide and come back to it or add an effect to a certain part. You could make a sketch on one layer, then paint your image and get rid of the line art when you're done.

Just practice, get a graphical talet, look up on some colour, effects , tutorials for 1 week

Then start doing it , if you succes in your first, well if you work hard, then you'll succces in painting the others.

It's all about practice, if you weren't born with this talent you can "learn" it, just by practicing...

What matters is the color selection, you just can't put orange close to yellow or lighten red...it looks crap

Also you need to add shadows, just practice.

to follow up on my previous statement. in the old days we used sticks an stones to etch, then cutting off tail hair, then it was airbrushes, now its computers.....its all art if it is created from a thought. keep them mostly original, not computer effects, and looking like they are done without a computer. people believe it is art more, if it looks original. hope this helps happy painting

what i see chris, is that art is art. i think people percieve the digital as computer generated, not hand made. nowadays, it is so easy to make things by chosing a pattern or using pre-made effects, that anyone can do it( they dont understand it still takes talent). my advice is to do things that look hand made. its so easy now to call up pictures, put prts together, add some effects, and call it art. to me, i still wonder if some are from ones head, or computer touch ups? something to think of

@WhoHasGlasses I think that all he did was sketch out the character, used level to make it darker, and using the burn tool add in shadows etc. Then he used the paintbrush with Color mode on. Maybe that might help you.

I just like the orange-green thing. it gives the painting the feeling of night, but on the other side there's some fire (sunlight) or something.

Or like the green is cold and weakening, and the orange is warm and give's the painting some strength.... also the green symbolises the evil, and the orange the good....
