In all fairness you guys lost like two starters. We lost... well I don't know the exact number lol but It is defiantly a lot more than two. Oregon got no credit for what their defense was capable of that year, and they shut down Cam Newton that day. The only thing that won that game for Auburn was that broken play by Michael Dyer. You take that play away, I think Oregon comes away with a National Title, but sadly that's not what had happened. Congrats to Auburn on their National Championship.
Oregon did play great defense but to say the Dyer play was the only reason Auburn won is foolish. Cam Newton doesn't fumble with 4:55 left in the game and Oregon might lose by 8 or more.

truth be told..... I am an Alabama Fan but Auburn is in the SEC. THAT is the only reason I even pulled for them. If Oregon had been playing someone else from another conference I would have pulled for y'all. nick fairly was the mvp of this game. he constantly disrupted the oregon's offense which i predicted when i watched the cal game and cal big front seven disrupted the oregon's offense. only difference with the cal game and auburn game was that auburn actually had a quarterback that could make plays and why auburn prevailed.
oregon will get a chance to redeem themselves when they play lsu. that should be a good game. although, we have an idea what oregon is going to look like with thomas and james coming back but lsu is a toss up since its new faces again. thats what sucks about college football, the players only stay for three to four years and then they leave. many times we really only get to see the good players for 1 to 2 years. this could be oregon's year to redeem themselves for the title. should be with sec.
without cam newton and nick fairly who are high caliber nfl type prospects, would not have won this game against oregon. oregon and the pac 12 are way more refined. u could see the level of skill that oregon had compared to auburn. while being outmatched physically upfront, oregon still muscled themselves to a tie ball game late in the game. oregon was actually inside the 20 yard line more often but came up empty on 2 possessions. while auburn didnt convert one time but they got the safety.
oregon should be contending again for the title since james and thomas will be there this year again. although, stanford will have a say in my opinion but without harbaugh, who knows how they turn out. the oregon vs lsu game should be fun. its obvious that the pac 12 vs sec will be the sexy pick for college football. big twelve is still good but big ten really has been down the previous decade. if this game wasnt exciting to u then u must not like football. high powered pac 12 vs gritty sec.
I have been an Oregon fan since I was born. I had my fair share of tears when big games were lost vs USC and other important games. But come on other Oregon fans.. @st3v018 SEC teams have always played close to teams in games almost play to the level of their competition sometimes. they are not dominant in their wins like the Nebraska or oklahomas wining by 40-50 points a game during the 80's and 90's...SEC teams are not pretty they Just scrap and dont ever go away...they are very annoying when you play them in a Major BCS game..their schedule makes them that way...they just happened to have won the last 5 national title games.

I have been a huge Oregon fan since about 2003. I think Oregon had this game. However, you can't take away from Auburn. Oregon lost this game because they was too fancy and did way too many tricks instead of sticking to their game. If they would of played the way they did against Stanford they would of pulled it off. There was too many screen plays and up the middle plays. They needed to balance it on both sides of the ball. That's how Oregon wins. Mark it down, Ducks 2011 champs!

I was at this game. being from the SEC I thought I had met some rude fans. Then I met Oregon fans. They were the rudest and meanest fans I have ever come across, and there were not that many of them in comparison to Auburn. Oregon has a great team. Came very close to winning this one. And Oregon was hitting hard in this game. Cam Newton was getting up very slow in some of the plays. And they say SEC has got the toughest defenses. Seems like PAC 10 got just as good defenses as well.
@MrRazorback87 Oregon seemed to have had it put together on both sides that year. The defense really stepped it up that game. Auburn really lucked out in this one but also stopped Oregon on very crucial plays. Had LaMichael James punched it in from the 2 on that one series probably would have gone Oregon's way. Auburn played very well though.
@megaladon1926 Yeah I agree. Since the SEC has gone on this run of 5 straight titles, Oregon has given them their biggest challenge. Not "powerhouse programs" OU or Texas or Ohio State, but Oregon. truth be told..... I am an Alabama Fan but Auburn is in the SEC. THAT is the only reason I even pulled for them. If Oregon had been playing someone else from another conference I would have pulled for y'all. Giving Oregon credit, they did what most teams through out the year could not, they shut down the Cam Newton.
As for this year..... Starting off with LSU.... You better have your Ducks in a row. LSU won't play around and hope for a last second field goal..... Geaux Tigers LSU

nick fairly was the mvp of this game. he constantly disrupted the oregon's offense which i predicted when i watched the cal game and cal big front seven disrupted the oregon's offense. only difference with the cal game and auburn game was that auburn actually had a quarterback that could make plays and why auburn prevailed.

oregon will get a chance to redeem themselves when they play lsu. that should be a good game. although, we have an idea what oregon is going to look like with thomas and james coming back but lsu is a toss up since its new faces again. thats what sucks about college football, the players only stay for three to four years and then they leave. many times we really only get to see the good players for 1 to 2 years. this could be oregon's year to redeem themselves for the title. should be with sec.

without cam newton and nick fairly who are high caliber nfl type prospects, would not have won this game against oregon. oregon and the pac 12 are way more refined. u could see the level of skill that oregon had compared to auburn. while being outmatched physically upfront, oregon still muscled themselves to a tie ball game late in the game. oregon was actually inside the 20 yard line more often but came up empty on 2 possessions. while auburn didnt convert one time but they got the safety.

oregon should be contending again for the title since james and thomas will be there this year again. although, stanford will have a say in my opinion but without harbaugh, who knows how they turn out. the oregon vs lsu game should be fun. its obvious that the pac 12 vs sec will be the sexy pick for college football. big twelve is still good but big ten really has been down the previous decade. if this game wasnt exciting to u then u must not like football. high powered pac 12 vs gritty sec.

I have been an Oregon fan since I was born. I had my fair share of tears when big games were lost vs USC and other important games. But come on other Oregon fans.. Auburn clearly and fairly won, although I hate to admit it. When you make excuses it makes us Oregon fans look bad. Good luck to auburn next year but most of all go ducks!

Easily Explainable last two bcs ntaional champion ship games Bama in 2010 injured colt mccoy IN THE FIRST QUARTER so if he had played the whole game who know what would have happened. And Auburn got REALLY REALLY LUCKY that at the end of the game their played helicoptered off an oregon player. I say the Sec as a confrence is just lucky and what I just said proves it. Their lucky they didn't face a INJURY FREE COLT MCCOY and their LUCKY that auburn player never hit the ground.

@st3v018 THe reason the other conferences schedule out of conference bcs caliber teams is because chances are their OWN conference is not that strong....The SEC has to schedule "weak" competition so that they can heal from their injuries...the physicality is very demanding in the SEC..why after having to play against mark Ingram, Tebow the next week, aj green the next week, would you want to schedule another great team out of conference that could beat you. The goal is to win a national title

Why schedule a Utah that could beat you or a west virginia or an oregon when you already play tough top ten competion just about every week.....when IF you go undefeated you can play the best NON SEC team ONCE for a national title...even if you win by 1,2, or 3 points a win is a win....besides what conference has had their national championships vacated MOST recently...

@st3v018 I am not saying the sec teams dont have their loses...its just that going undefeated or winning the Sec when it entails the competition you face week in and week out will prepare you for anything...those teams you mentioned all beat sec teams and those games were close and competitive and physical....ONE PROBLEM....imagine those teams doing that for 5 consecutive weeks in front of 90 to 100,000 hostile fans "death valley, swamp...dealing with injuries...and NFL bodies and speed.

@st3v018 SEC teams have always played close to teams in games almost play to the level of their competition sometimes. they are not dominant in their wins like the Nebraska or oklahomas wining by 40-50 points a game during the 80's and 90's...SEC teams are not pretty they Just scrap and dont ever go away...they are very annoying when you play them in a Major BCS game..their schedule makes them that way...they just happened to have won the last 5 national title games.

@st3v018 there are not but 4 or 5 national title contenders in the nation outside of the SEC: Ohio state, Oklahoma, Texas or Oregon or USC as of late..half of those teams are either down right now or on probation...We have that many national title contenders in our own conference week in and week out...after the national title match ups why play out of conference...that would be weakening the schedule

I have been a huge Oregon fan since about 2003. I think Oregon had this game. However, you can't take away from Auburn. Oregon lost this game because they was too fancy and did way too many tricks instead of sticking to their game. If they would of played the way they did against Stanford they would of pulled it off. There was too many screen plays and up the middle plays. They needed to balance it on both sides of the ball. That's how Oregon wins. Mark it down, Ducks 2011 champs!

I was at this game. being from the SEC I thought I had met some rude fans. Then I met Oregon fans. They were the rudest and meanest fans I have ever come across, and there were not that many of them in comparison to Auburn. Im glad we won that game, and Im glad Oregon knows what it is like to loose....which they will do when they meet LSU in the season opener. WAR EAGLE!!!!!

Oregon has a great team. Came very close to winning this one. And Oregon was hitting hard in this game. Cam Newton was getting up very slow in some of the plays. And they say SEC has got the toughest defenses. Seems like PAC 10 got just as good defenses as well.

Auburn really lucked out in this one but also stopped Oregon on very crucial plays. Had LaMichael James punched it in from the 2 on that one series probably would have gone Oregon's way. Auburn played very well though.

Kind of interesting. Hats off to em for making it a very competitive game. But I'm an Arkansas fan so I'm elated Auburn won for our conference's sake. :)

If Cam hadn't short armed that easy pass in the endzone, then AU wins by more. And how can you say AU lucked out when Oregon had to use gimmicky fourth down trick plays and lucked out on those? Trick plays was the only reason this was even close.

@WarEagleAuburn89 actually, oregon had more chances inside the twenty then auburn did. the problem with oregon was that they didnt have a power game. everything they run is based on deception with that spread offense and against an auburn team that has nick fairly and that size upfront, they had problems, just like the cal game. watch the oregon and cal highlights and u will see that cal with that big front seven contained oregon as well. also, your logic is wrong. auburn scored with a safety.
