@LPdANDYz If all you know it "white" history then you must be in the wrong place. I have a very hard time believing that schools in Mexico, Central, and South America are teaching only "white" history rather than their own histories.

The original Mexica language is nahuatl..Just like the u.s. controls what we learn..so does the spanish and other places still under colonial rule. There are few schools that teach us our old language that is still spoken in many areas..in mexico. mexican independence was only 2 cutt us and the spanish here from spain.

It's the most precious thing they had to give, just like people who gave up all their possessions to worship the gods. Every culture did it- offered suffering to the gods. Even the Greeks sacrificed children.

@mitomke The aztecs believed that to be sacrificed was to give yourself up for the good of the universe, and that you would be rewarded in paradise. Europeans killed millions because they worshiped a slightly different God, or even simply had some odd habits. And they were told they would burn in hell as soon as they were done burning on earth. and the aztecs drugged them so they wouldn't feel pain, while the inquisitors went through great pains to create as much as possible.

@grufle1906 No offense to you but I have read many books about the Aztecs. One thing stands out, they were conquered quickly because their neighbors did not want to be volunteered for their sacrifices. Also the Aztecs were easily converted to Catholicism because they liked the idea that God would give his blood rather than have a bloodthirsty god who could not be quenched. I believe the priests kept their secrets to wield power over the people. You may see parallels in our culture.

There are accounts of natives saying yes, we did sacrificed people, and they have found bodies of people that were sacrificed. Instead of saying it didn't happen, people should explain why they did it. Not out of bloodlust, but to honor the gods they loved.

and it was also population control in some instances, when food supplies were low, sacrifices would go up. Keeping the people fed was the key way to keep the people happy and loyal. so gotta make some sacrifices to gods.

Actually the death toll for JUST the spanish inquisition is still debatable I've seen as low as 2,000(Encyclopedia Brittanica) to up to 350,000.
