Philip has had many mistresses over the years and the Queen has learned to put up with it. It was openly known about in London; he and Lord Mountbatten trolled for women together. He has a lot of respect for Elizabeth but was never loyal or faithful to her.

The really big thing about Queen Elizabeth is her exemplary high standards of conduct throughout her reign, which has so endeared her to so many. She has set very high standards, and whoever is to follow in her footsteps has a very large act to follow. I do not think any other monarch has ever endeared themselves to the people as much as Elizabeth, not only that, she has always been a beautiful woman.

I can't help but have respect for her majesty and her husband as well as the royal family for maintaining dignity in spite of the nit picking tabloid media throws at them over the years. I guess one has to have a very tough hide to put up with that on top of being a head of state and head of the English Church.
