  • at 20sec theres a bit of a white belly. x

  • I wish someone had taken a video of you harrasing this shark and used it to convict you.. if you use a boat you should know the law regarding how close you are allowed to get to these sharks. If your local your a twat if your an emmet thats what we expect from you tosser..

  • if a swimmer angered a basking by accidently kicking it would it attack do you think?

  • @saphinik Well, now I don't even know what to say I honestly don't even know what you were saying. Please when you try to form an argument make clear and concise points so as to form said argument. Also how am I the ignorant one in this equation? You are the one using improper grammar and your whole argument is built around threatening a person you don't even know, not even actual facts. All I need to show I'm correct in this argument is a globe. Also, which country do you think I'm from?

  • @ThatOneKidThatSkis Simply because you're insulting my country, you can't spell for shit. Go and look up grammar and punctuation if you want to act like you're smarter than someone else, when you can't even get it right yourself.

  • @Inuzuka74 Ya, I didn't spell a single word wrong, so cool, you almost got me, except not really. Really the only thing you could call me on is not capitalizing a few words, so you should also try not to be such an elitist.

  • @ThatOneKidThatSkis And there for? Nice one, retard.

  • @Inuzuka74 Ummm, alright? Good one.

  • @ThatOneKidThatSkis Thanks.

  • @Inuzuka74 Ya that was more a you don't make sense type of, "Ummm, alright?"

  • @ThatOneKidThatSkis I'm not as simple minded as you. You've proved you're simple minded by actually replying to that. Lool.

  • @Inuzuka74 As all of your replies have already shown? Feel free to show proof of my simple mindedness, so far you have shown you are more so than me (unless you don't know what simple minded means.)

  • @ThatOneKidThatSkis The fact you insist on arguing with people over the internet. It's pathetic. You should go outside and stop insulting someone because they're English, or American. It doesn't matter.

  • @saphinik Two things, First way to give a good name to the British, you really represent your country well. Second, you seem like a very angry person and before you realize how pathetic you truly are you should seek counseling so that you don't decide to kill yourself. I'm simply pointing out that you are wrong and there for just some uneducated prick. Also I'm sure youre super tough and curbstomp people all the time (sarcasm) you must be one of those hard english gangsters right?

  • @saphinik and that has to do with cape towns location how?

  • @saphinik Ya, Capetown is no where near the south pole, its several thousand miles away.

  • aawww :) basking sharks are cute

  • They nearly hit it. It's also clearly a small Basking shark..

  • wow i love swimming with sharks.... i went with someone i met through "secretshag.co uk" great time, she eat me alive

  • absolute idiot, u almost killed it! so stupid

  • You are still meant to keep a distance from the sharks. Who evers stearing that boat sucks!

  • i lived in cornwall all my life and it is a basking shark. our waters are far too cold for grat whites to live in our waters

  • @caringnath no way pedro i see a great white at clatcton on sea

  • I would not be surprised if you got a few whites off the coast of scotland. lots of seals around there. Dont think you would find them in Kernow because there is not enough food. But it is likely that they drift up in the gulf stream.

  • its obviously a basking shark!jeez|!how stupid are some of the people putting comments on here!plus there has never been a positive sighting of a great white in british waters, theres no videos or pictures which show correct sightings.if there is,show me.

  • pretty cool that u got that close man

  • basking shark

  • That's a basking shark, a harmless plankton eater; they patrol the Cornish shores during the summer for several weels each year; sorry to disappoint you lot :0D

  • well screw holiday people its obvious its a basking shark people make up lies to get more viewers

  • never said it was a great white, most cornish people would know this was a basker. Its only visitors that see a shark and assume great white.... lol. no lies here mate

  • @queeniejo most people who live on coastline that recieves basking shark visitors would know it's not a great white. You can get them all over UK's coastline.

  • @liamjenx absolutely no great white would be tanning in the channel.

  • your WAAAY too close to it

  • If you listen the boat is taken out of gear and the shark was in no danger what-so-ever. The guy who filmed this is very respectful of ALL marine wildlife.

  • @queeniejo Did you see the shark suddenly bolt away from you? Too close. You aproached too fast and nearly ran it over. You should see which direction it is heading and go there, then wait for it to come to you!

  • @TopViralVids yh that is actually true

  • you shouldnt be that close to basking shark to wanka,, give it the respect it deserves, especially with a prop engine..toss pot.. you should be 20 - 30 feet from it, then swim up close...

  • @ardentinny ok then so fathers off fishing for the day and comes close to a basker whilst towing gear, he conviniently brought scuba gear so he can stop earning money from fishing and go and swim with a shark? also who cares if its a prop engine? a shark could easily thrash his tail once and would be out of the way ...

  • Aaaah fuck it, rip the fin of with yer prop its probably worth the best part of hundred quid

  • That is a basking shark but it's a very small one!

  • @CPRules0103 bloody hell! someone who knows what there talking about! thank you!

  • the snout is to rounded and the uk doesnt get great whites its too cold. it debatable in year to come they may migrate to our waters migrating with their food source. as for now unfortunately jaws wont be making an appearance

  • Thats wrong. White sharks can tolerate a wide range of temperatures form sub Arctic such as Alaska and Canada to tropical such as Hawaii and Mauritius, these are all places where they have been found. Most commonly they are found in cold to temperate waters ranging from 10c -18c in South Africa, New Zealand and Australia, no different to Souther England. Also nearest confirmed white shark to UK was 200 miles south in Biscay France, and they can travel 1000s miles.

  • Absolutely right. Abalone ( what we call Paua ) divers in the Chatham Islands ( 43°53′S 176°31′W ) here in New Zealand, have been attacked by 5 meter long great whites.

Truro in Cornwall is 45° 22' N 63° 16' W so they are at relative latitudes. I think though, your water is warmer. We get currents from the ice, you get yours from the gulf stream.

  • A record White was brought into New Brunswick, Canada in the 1930 at Herring Weir but was caught closer to Frederickton which also has a relative latitude to both the Chatham Islands and Cornwall.

I don't think that a White off the northern coast is that much of a stretch. Sadly, we have to wade through the gob shites selling tropical holiday films to the News of the World and the Sun to find genuine accounts, that are, sadly, debased by the existence of the aforementioned gob shites.

  • @mamoderawat , southern england has warmer waters due to the gulf stream, if anywhere their more likely to appear up north, even if they did we dont have an ecosystem capable of sustaining them to any major extent. few seals here n there but nothing substantial. if they visit they wont b staying long.

  • Its Obviously a Basking Shark. The Uk does have Great Whites but Thats no Great White. Its not Fat enough and its not black & White.

  • not a basking shark the dorsal fin looks different it could very well be a baby white or most likely a mako they are very commen in british waters

  • its rubber

  • you dumb bastards it's a fucking basker, considering my dad filmed this i think we should know what it is ........

  • omg haha it is a basking shark lol pause at0:20 you will see the fin and its rounded not pointed and its detailed like a basking

  • omg you realy think thats a great white?!?! it is most probably a shortfin mako shark also know as the blue pointer

  • how does this look remotely like a mako ....... if it was a mako the video would be called something like, cornish mako encounter .......

  • oh right ok then so .. i think its called a mako shark not just mako dumb ass lol and it dont say what shark it is anyway

  • I live down here, its a basking shark, theres loads of them down here when it gets hot, end of.

  • end of lol err no because basking sharks are massive fuckers and have curved dorsals this one does not it has a pointed dorsal which clearly says its not a basking shark

  • Perhaps its a cement lorry because they are grey as well, bellend

  • that os fucking grey lol great whites are dark graident into white duh i know my sharks thanks

and that aint no basking shark

  • not as much as you know cock though I bet

  • nice one mate lol

  • shut up ...

  • You can see its snout poking out of the water just befoe the muppet in the boat gets near it! Definitely a basking shark.

  • Its most probably a mako shark.

  • cool vid by da way

  • thank you

  • Next time, please shut your engine off so your propellers don't injure the shark.

  • Basking sharks are much bigger I'm afraid.

  • Yeah i have actually walked along the coast line. when i went on a camp. i think its near mevagissy or what not, but that aint no basking shark, its either a great white or a make and if so where all fucked!

  • yeah basking sharks are bigger!!!! what they start off at max size? is it possible it can grow? its young and is displaying its natural behaviour of collecting phytoplankton near the surface. OR if you want to believe its a great white, fine

  • is that near tolkarn beach the cliffs in backround look it but tht aint a great white it aint big enuff and the wrong colour

  • basking shark, tell by the long beautiful sweep of its tail.

which so nearly got hacked into by the prop?????

if you want to get close swim!!!! theyre harmless.

  • agree. had a wide flat head too

  • once my brother was in the water, hes 5 btw, and he picked up a fish and shouted 'look a fish' and it snapped for him, it was a little shark and now he wont go that far out into water

  • great whites dive before attacking, its a basking shark if it was a great white it would swam away faster

  • Its a basking shark and the Brits told everyone its a basking shark, just the media tried to hype a Jaws fest. Lots of basking sharks there now.

  • Jeez.

They are great whites all over the UK.

People don't believe it but scientists have said they could live perfectly in UK waters.

Just cos' you can't see them doesn't mean they aren't there :P.

  • looks to me like a basking shark as its behaviour was not of a great white which would not swim around on the surface however the basking shark is known for this sort of behaviour

  • buryanboy, if you fucking listen he shuts his engine down. SO he was not getting to close

  • Top man, thanks for noticing. This situation does happen a lot between August to November. I would never ever harm or scare one of these magnificent creatures.I love and admire buryanboys "absking sharks" and would never stress them or interfere with them in any way, cheers dude. x

  • Just some idiot in a boat getting far too close to a absking shark..how brave! Leave them alone..better still, keep out of Cornwall.

  • This video was taken by a Cornish born and bred fisherman. He took this video while towing fishing gear that restricts his ability to alter course, the boat was taken out of gear and shark was in NO harm whatsoever,it happens a lot. OK?

  • What is an absking shark? You should get out of Cornwall and go to school mate.

  • By the way,I am mousef16,I actually made this video of your absking shark. . . I was born in Cornwall, live in Cornwall and I HAVE MADE MY LIVING FISHING IN CORNWALL. ok,tractor boy?

  • God that's scary, I go swimming in Cornish seas!

But that shark looks a lil' small to be a Great White... I'm scared now... :S 0.0

  • you"re gonna need a bigger boat....

  • ..i don't mean to sound stupid but, what is basking? is it a type of shark or something?

  • it mAy be named a basking shark cause it likes to bask in the sun lol I have no idea, oh and that means to soak up some rays like suntanning lol it's what aligators and other animals like to do to keep warm. Also why you should have a light in an aquarium or whatever if you have a pet lizard etc etc

  • your engine needs a tune up..

  • its probably a dolfin lol

  • blatently a basking shark juvenile, note how it swims, it's dorsal fin and the fact that finding a great white in cornwall is very very rare. Could perhaps be a make or porbeagle as people always get these mixed up with great whites.

  • its in cornwall UK

  • wow ur lucky

  • i think this is basking am i right cuz i saw one at porthcurno

  • where exactly was this? and what boat u got ?

  • Baby basking shark but im not sure..

  • rite, this is 100% a basking shark. they are in so close to the shore becuse there is more planktion there for them to feed on

  • ha ha

  • Could have been a great white, they are already in those waters.

  • it was obviously a baby basking shark.

  • haha shud have ran it over for j walking..

  • j swimming lol

  • what ever it is its to close to shore for comfort

  • You should have killed it in order to tell what species it belonged to.

  • It's a basking shark

  • That is no basking shark... they don't go that shallow. It seemed more like a blue shark, or a baby tiger shark.

  • wtf. killing it to find out what species it is! thats the worse idea ever you dickhed.

  • i agree with onetea... unless its a new species! and as a last resort

  • what a total stupid thing to say!!!

  • lol your right

  • I'm not sure if it is a small basking shark or a huge great white. It looks like Californian waters so it could be either. You could see a blunt nose but you can also see a white underbelly (basking sharks don't have white underbellies). But I think I'm going with the basking shark.

  • Obviously my last comment was just to the stupid ones posted, video was put on here for nice peoples interest, thanks to you guys who enjoyed it or left sensible comments. Penguinboy was spot on,clever little chap.

  • To all you cock sucking dildos who leave dumb ass comments on this video : I took this video while towing fishing gear that restricts my ability to alter course, the boat was taken out of gear and shark was in NO harm whatsoever,it happens a lot. ok dickheads?

  • the guy that steered the boat directly into the shark can lick my great white balls.

  • its not a great white it could be a basking shark

  • was that a good idea to steer the boat towards them you cock, how bout i drive my van towards or into you when your out on the way to a gay bar.

  • Thats a basking shark because if it were a great white i would've attacked your boat

  • i think they know it's a basking shark they didn't acaully say that it was a great white, but they released it so that as people typed in cornwall shark on youtube they would get this and seen as so many people would be typing it due to a recent "viewing" they jsut did it so as to get more views on the video....

if that didn't make any sense im sorry but i find it really hard sometimes to put in words my opinions...

  • Some people seem to forget that a lot of the British coastline especially Cornwall is home to Basking Sharks, one of the largest sharks in the world! Basking Sharks are harmless and do not eat meat.

  • the fin is not a great whites so it's therefore not a great white. The Sun is such a retarded newspaper

  • Basking Shark!

  • There are loads of sharks off Cornwall - Blue sharks mainly - when I was down in Porthcurno several years ago, two basking sharks were about 10 feet from the shore, they were massive but totally harmless and loads of people including me were in the water with them - mind you Jaws hadn't made in those days but if it had you wouldn't have seen my arse for dust!

  • its not totally impossible to see a great white off the cornish coast..after all..the sea temperatures are perfect for great whites and the habitats surrounding cornwall fit pefectly the sharks needs..

  • Looks rather little for a baskin shark dunnit,,,could just be me.

  • I watched a program that said there is no reason why great whites wouldnt be in our waters especially if its a hotyear but yeah alot of what you hear is tourists shouting shark and thinking its a great white when its usually a basking shark

  • um, hello, it was a shark...dolphins tail fins are horizontal, not vertical like sharks...look at it again

  • its 100 % a basking shark , great white dont surface like that unless its to kill it didnt even move when the boat ran over it lol

  • basking sharks eat plants? looks like a dolphin?. you are all a bunch of dumb bastards

  • Basking sharks eat zooplankton which are tiny animals which consist of mainy crustaceans (which can consit of animals such as copeopods and crab larvae) and larvae of fish. and it was no dolphin it was a basking shark

  • Because This is old news - it was proved that the shark wasn't an actual great white.

  • ahh shit, i was waiting for it jumping in the boat and biting his leg off

  • watch rate my video to see something of a close encounter if you dare

  • cuz its a baskin shark they eat plants no1 gives a shit

  • That looks like a dolphin

  • thats got to be fake cus it int on the news or ought? what a twat.

  • yeah id like to know that too

  • Why isn't this in the press yet ?
