  • Ultralight, my first plane of FSX. lol

  • Can I ask you what kind of Helmets and intercom you use. I am currently using Pilot USA and I am thinking of changing.

  • @geneland those are Fly Com. They are the best!

  • Man, we have all come a "long way" since then...

  • ever dropped bags of paint on your mates place?

  • This is a Weight-Shift-Control Light-Sport-Aircraft, certified under ASTM standards with the FAA. The days of no license flying ended in 2004 with the advent of Sport Pilot Rule. A Part 103 Ultralight is the only thing that can be flown w/o a license. Its 254 pounds or less, 5 gallons of gas and no more than 60 mph, single seat. This machine is more like 565 pounds, can go above 100 MPH and holds about 14.8 gallons of gas.

  • Lucky kids to have a dad with a trike.I bet the flying "big" has already bitten them hard.

  • i bet that thing was exspensive

  • Hi mate, lovely video. I'm taking my kids to the air regularly by PPG, just now I'm assemblying a trike to do it safer way. Don't get depressed by some of silly responses here. Those people kow nothing about flying. How old is your boy?

    Regards from Slovakia.

  • high dollar trike there

  • It is considered an LSA, not an ultralight

  • damn he freakin went almost straing up!!!!!! id be scared shitless if i was that kid in the back and it was my first time holy fuck dude u went like almost straight up!!

  • 4 years ago Larry, you look much thinner. Stop feeding your face on your trips with Jan !!!

  • THis looks like Larry Mednick.

  • i love riding the airtrike its fun as hell!

  • lucky kids i wish my dad would have taken me flying at that age, thanks for the video

  • beautiful trike.

  • Excellent !!!

    What motor ?

  • this is insane I got to buy one of those things

  • holy sht dont drop the camera! lol

  • โอ้ ชอบมากครับ

  • that is a really nice ultralight i just moved to new york and i fly but i moved from tampa'FL

  • Good job :)

  • beatiful.......what is the name of this wing????

  • Where do you fly from?

  • Zephyrhills Florida

  • @meomyou2 Tell Larry Jim said Hi. They have some very nice trikes and would be nice to see some more videos.

  • The kid in yellow t shirt looks very "concerned". Nice job done

  • Delta Jet from Hungary??? :)

  • How much would this trike cost?

    How fast does it go?

  • they only run you a couple thousand i think and their max speed is only about 45-50mph

  • if by a couple thousand you mean a lot of thousands then your right on

  • Comment removed

  • My guess is 5 to 8,000 USD

  • You need to add a zero. this trike lists for $67,000 as equipped. If you like that one check out Evolution Trikes, and see the new Revo.

  • That trike runs over 100 MPH and costs around $60,000 fully loaded like it sits.

  • I read between $10,000 - $30,000 depending on the manufacturer and model

  • what engine you have in your trike tis is not a rotax! but it fly up very fast

  • It is a Rotax 912 80 HP. We also use the 912S 100 HP. the wing is a Hazzard 12 and capable of over 100 MPH. Apollo North America is the manufacturer of this trike.

  • Cool trike , cool video. I used to fly one of these back in 1995; two carbs rotax engine and man it was fun. Now i ride a Harley. Thanks for posting and keep on flying........

  • someone plz send me a message... do you need a licence for one?

  • only for a two seater

  • Ultralights are regulated under the Federal Aviation Regulations Section 103 and therefore a license is not required to fly an ultralight. So, in essence, triking is a self-regulated sport under the auspices of the Aero Sports Connection (ASC), the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA), and the United States Ultralight Association (USUA).

  • true - but not with a passenger

  • Would like to know the brand of this trike.

Also, check out the July Plane and Pilot mag.

p72. Nice article on aerotrekking at very low altitudes.

  • Is there any minimum age for flying a 1-passenger Ultralight?

  • no you can be a newborn and fly one lol, but seriously, no age limits, no pilots requirement for single passenger ultralights or microlights

  • What is the name of that trike? I like it!

  • great video by the way, going flying again for the first time in over a month this friday, its been too damn cold, but you gotta satisfy that flying bug. i must get a trike one of these days too much fun to pass up

  • very nice microlight/ultralight , is that a quantum , sorry for spelling , i used to fly in england , westonzoyland, somerset area

i dont fly now , but wow after watching this i miss flying alot

  • Yeah it looks like it, I think it is.

    Nice trike isn't it!

  • Do you think that that Wright Bros. asked if that was a safe thing to do? Do you think that when children ride in a Commercial Jet that they are safe because they wear a seat belt? When it plummets to the ground, that seat belt isn't going to do a thing. One thing this Trike has that your Commercial aircraft don't have is the ability to glide when the power is lost. you are such a moron!

  • Driving is essential to getting around and is a fundamental and basic part of our lives and cars are designed, by law, to well protect the occupants in the case of an accident. Strapping your kid to a flexwing ultralight and going for a joyride .... ah, not so much. I have an ultralight, I also skydive, but no sane person should put a child into either activity. In fact, it is illegal for a child to skydive.

  • You really, still don't get it. This statement takes the cake:

""Do you think that when children ride in a Commercial Jet that they are safe because they wear a seat belt?"""

Airliners are a bit safer than ultralight trikes, and a bit more necessary for practical purposes.

  • I think they are safer because they are wearing a seat belt. I was in a Piper Archer (single engine 4 seater) about thirteen or fourteen years ago, when there was a mishap that was complete pilot error (i was in the back seat) and we plummeted 900 to 1000 feet to the ground. landed upside down, and walked away only with a little case of whiplash from one of the passengers, i just remember sitting upside down hanging from my seat belt, and thinking i would be dead if it wasnt for this. so yes!

  • Ok .. I just have to respond to this, in normal conditions (power loss being the only issue) any commercial airliner can glide to an emergency landing. Airplanes are made to fly..or glide. Only in extreme situations would a plane that lost power be doomed.

  • always wanted one

  • what song is that

  • dude

  • NICE soft-field style landing at 2:43, also!

  • Driving? That analogy really puts your argument into the toilet. Driving is essential to getting around and is a fundamental and basic part of our lives and cars are designed, by law, to well protect the occupants in the case of an accident. Strapping your kid to a flexwing ultralight and going for a joyride .... ah, not so much.

  • Sport pilot lisence is required only for anything with bigger than a 2 gallon tank and 2 seats / places. I just purchased an Air Creation Racer 447, which is a single seat 40 hp 5 gallon tank w/ standard FUN wing, though it really doesn't matter since I'm four flights away from my checkride for my Private lisence...

  • I meant anything bigger than a FIVE gallon tank.

  • It's very wrong to take your children up. Your enthusiasm for the sport should not become their exposure to high risk. What would their mother say when you have an accident, you survive, but you say, "Sorry, honey, I killed your kids."

  • Wanna know what I did at that age? What we used to do 40+ years ago, Authorities would have a heart attack non in today's society. Your worry is nothing more than just that! At age 8 I was driving a GoKart that would do in excess of 100 mph on the road and dad in hot pursuit! At age 12 I was riding motorcycles at over 140mph and loving it! No over 50 and still Love speed. I congratulate you for taking your children up like that! Do it all they want, they will always look back and love it!

  • myndenway - I often take my kid flying in my weightshift, The aircraft are regulated, pilots highly trained and check out the statistics. your kid is more likely to die by you driving them to school, not many, pedestrians, drunks, and trees in the air!

  • do you honestly believe that flying an ultralight trike is statistically safer than driving your kids to school? How many hundreds of millions of kids have been flown hundreds of millions of miles in ultralight trikes? Answer me that question. Think. Before. Typing.

  • I agree that riding in a microlight is more dangerous than riding in an airliner - However its about degrees of sensibility, it is statistically more dangerous to ride a mountain bike than to fly a light aircraft - And yes, their are more deaths from doing so each year. yet my bet is that your kid has a mountain bike or similar. it just feels safer!

I think its down to the individual and I think we all respect your right to have an opinion. No point in getting frustrated though

  • yeh the guy below me is right, you're such a moron.

  • first off its proven to be a very safe activity.flying is always a risk, and in life there are going to be risks we expose our children to. the thing is to balance the risks with reward, and the way i see it the reward this child gained from the experience and beauty of flight far out weighed the risk in this particular case as these flying wings have been proven very reliable and safe with a competent pilot. Excuse me i have an appointment with my 300mph aeroplaaane and the heavens :)

  • It angers me when parents restrict their children from exploring. That is how we humans learn. If you always lived in a rubber room and wore protective gear, you would never know that the first steps you made and fell, actually hurt! You would never know that touching a flame will burn and hurt you. People like you is the reason why or society is like it is now. I suppose you don't believe in punishment - no, let the Police do that when they are older cause you didn't want to be a parent!

  • You clearly fail to differentiate between what is normal and acceptable and what is not. A parent's responsibility is for the safety of the child. Taking a kid in a high risk vehicle, flown by an amateur, is simply irresponsible. And if he has an accident and kills the kid, what is your answer to that? Oh well, shit happens? Tell that to the mother. Then you go on about crime and punishment. You have issues that have nothing to do with this topic.

  • Do you consider yourself a Professional Driver?

If not, then this means you are risking your child every time you take them with you in a motor vehicle. Do you consider everyone that is driving a vehicle on the road to be of Professional status? If not, then again, you place your children at great risk!

  • Really? You are the one complaining, not me. I am merely the person relying to your ignorance.

Did your parents know what you did when they were not around? hummm scary thought huh?

  • Please do not allow your child to ride a Horse as the horse wasn't designed with any type of safety gear. No Engineer has checked the horse for Safety issues. Don't allow your child to climb a tree as this too has Safety Issues. Do not allow your child to ride a skate board, or roller skate or do a lot of the things that your grandparents did. I don't think that a Model A or Model T had Safety issues - yet children were actually allowed to ride in them. Heaven Forbid!

  • Yeah props can be dangerous. Looks like a neat ship..many happy flights

  • is that a pegasus quantum trike ?

I used to have 1 but it was a long time ago.. nice trike btw please be safe, i was a ultralight instructor and got into an accident , i had 3 fingers severd on my left hand , and my right hand was severd in half

  • cant wait to see the vids of the new plane .

  • Wonderfull microlight:-Which model is this one and what type of engine, how much fuel burn per hour,Your vedio is nice.Looking forward to hear from you.Good luck and have safe flying.

  • Thanks for the comment. It is an Apollo Delta Jet and its AWESOME. This red one was a demo...but it was so good that I get my Silver 2007 Delta Jet on April 2. It has a Rotax 912 80 hp 4stroke engine. Burns about 5 gallons an hour at 80mph + cruise. Stay tuned for more vids of the new plane!

  • i need one tell me how. i live in niagara falls canada, advertise in our newspaper

  • How much does a trike cost? and How long is the course?. Need I a license?. Thanks.

  • Sport pilot liscence is now required. Not a big deal. Good stuff in the training. Learning to fly can take a weekend or months depending on your skill, talent and dedication. I soloed in about 10 to 15 hours.

  • @gustavogonzalez1967 Well it depends if it is an ultralight or an LSA. A new ultralight trike would cost maybe 10 grand. While a new LSA trike could be from 20 to 40 grand. A used LSA is significally cheaper. I have seem some that are pretty knew, and are only around 6 grand. However if you want to be safe instead of sorry, you may consider a ballistic recovery parachute, which could easily cost another 4 grand.

  • this one much... it' a apollo trike right? cost see here link: http://www.goldenstatetrikes.com/pageapollo.htm

  • i really want one how much do they cost?

  • yeah i like likewise trike but i hate flying.

  • where the hell is the throttle on these wacky yet awesome fun looking things?

  • u have a foot throttle on the right hand side and also a hand throttle on the left on most. Never really use the hand throttle though, its only for long journeys if u wanna take ur foot off, like cruise control in a car i suppose.
