The Second is a hell of an album. Each track is good and the album finishes up with one of the greatest blues medleys ever. Something particular about 28 and others great late 60's songs- they often built to a crescendo- think Light My Fire. This was achieved by virtue of change of intensity of the vocal, changes in instrument level, double timing a beat etc. Any one hooked on this sound would probably reject the over-compressed, one level song writing we so often hear today.
This song is holy. I have no clue, nor do I care, who this Danielle person is. This is beer guzzling college dorm music from 1968-69 and that is all that matters. We had more important things to worry about then.

zvjezd01 You are incorrect. "The Second" was released in October, 1968. I remember (oddly enough), because the band I was in at the time ("The Second Beginning") was adding this tune to our playlist. I was all of 15 years old. Time flies!

Jerry Edmonton was a great drummer and musical arranger, but he could not sing for sh*t!! I can't believe they let him ruin the beginning of both sides of this album. Though I did like his call/response duet vocal with Kay on "Don't Step on the Grass Sam". More bands should do "conversational" vocals like that.
