This remind me of my ex boyfriend back in school i was just 16 year old he use to pick me up all the time on the week end i was so glad he come to get me just get out of the house
LOL...this album and this song especially reminded me of the day when I was at Fremont High School in early 90's my homie's and I stole a car from the guys from 38ST and drove it up to the San Bernardino Mountains. We picked up the homegirls at H.P high and rolled out blasting the "Delfonics" all the way to the mountains...good times...V.FLORENCIA 13 El Travieso
I'll never forget seeing the Delfonics at the Cheetah in New York in the early 70's along with the Manhattans. This was the show of shows ALL the women were so beautiful. Each women had their own unique quality...just beautiful each and everyone of them. Happy to say I had a good time before, during and after the show. Those were the days my friend.
I can remember listening to the Delfonics practice on my way home from school. They were on Media St in Philly. It was nice to hear to songs long before they were on the radio. There are no groups like that now. This is what needs to be taught in schools. How to actually develop into musicians.
i was so young. a young pretty girl but i seen life ahead of time. i am blessed to be apart of this era/world. the delfonics was a love making record. just don't break your promise. D I.
Dreaming of a love of mine that passed away in 1990 I was so in love w/him. I miss him w/ all my heart! Up til now have not ever fallen for anyone else! I wish he would come back to me I'm so sad
I am 50 but these songs remind me of my brother in law 'Squeak' who died too young. I sometimes think of him and keep this secret to myself.. He's gone and I love him and yet nobody really knows how much he influenced me or what a big part of my life and heart he was. He was from Manhattan. Gregory Frazier. And I still love him for putting me on to all of these songs.. (Songs that his daughter, (my neice) thinks she is getting from me..) May I see you again in the resurrection.. Praise Jah..
See being that I'm 50 and still not missing a beat if you could see me or hear me talk you would swear that i was singing a song while never breaking a promise to you nor myself,...peace
This song here gives me a natural high....for real it does. Thinking back to my days growing up in Newark,NJ....we used to take turns singing in the halls of those old bldgs and this was my older brotha's choice to sing. I remember hearing the girls say to him "boy you really can sing"....he felt like the little ghetto celebrity. We used to have so much fun during this period. Many people are dead and gone now, but this music makes them seem alive in my mind and heart. Thanks for posting this.
The Delphonics are one of the greatest vocal groups of all time. While some groups of the 70's were just stumbling upon arrangements by chance, these guys were painstakingly and masterfully blending sophisticated harmonies and intricate orchestrations together to make music on par with the classics of classical music. @crazymanjonchin Strangely enough, there are alot of teens out there that dig this stuff, and that makes this 52 year old white dude glad. I don't listen to any new music, so I can't judge it.
you broke your promise,so I found My New Love,'cause u were Trying to Make A Fool Of Me. but I Told You So,and u said Hey Love,Tell Me This Is A Dream,I'm Sorry. but Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time, i'll holla back, I'm going to Walk Right Up To The Sun,Ready Are Not,Here I Come...ain't trying to rhyme, but You've Been Untrue girl, and I've Tried Over And Over, but When You Get Right Down To It,He Don't Realy Love You.......(stoniedog)

@54nomore 'Old School' beats the hell out of the crap that is passing for music these days! We have a generation that has to listen to so-called 'music' played by computers and not real instruments! I feel sorry for them.
@best music96 The lyrics, the melodies and the voices of the artist that came out of Motown & Philly will never be replicated. The 60's & 70's to me were the two greatest eras in Rock & Roll history. And these gentlemen were but, a part of that great history for which people like you and me counted ourselves lucky to be a part of.
Yep! Basement parties with red or painted black light bulbs. Sometimes they were Rent Parties and they charged you 50 cents to get in...And you bought a chicken dinner! Those were the days!!

I just want to know how I sound to others at 12 years old thank you so much
@mssquirrely I know thats right! and not only that the message was really clear, forreal and to the point! So if someone heard the message in the song and their heart was intuned then they knew where you were coming from. If they did not then they needed alot a help!
wow now this is one of my favorite tenors back then, no one sing like that now, and that is a lost, and we lost one of the greatest falsetto in soul music Ron Banks past and that hurt me bad he was one of the best rest in peace my brother
THIS GOES OUT TO THE MAN I WOULD HAVE HAD 4 KIDS FROM ,I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU RIP ABRAHAM GUERREA FROM SFM,FROM SADGIRL THE MAIN GIRL ALWAYS DOWN FO YO ASS.I LOVE YOU
There is nothing like that time of back in the day. The Delfonics were and still are masters of music from the heart and soul...it touches deep. real deep touching a part of life in the "Hood" that no one today could ever experience like we did back then.
Bou I was blessed to be born in an era that product this and so many great sounds,I was in the 10th grade in high school and loving every minute of it. With all the handsome older guys . It was like candy store all I could do was look, just to young but it was great times. Red light blue light parties
@ladyjae65 oh really ? If I stick 5 dollars under a BLACK WOMAN's nose she will sure SUCK on my TESTICLES...and anything else I tell her too.....snap!
@teehonky I actually considered your first post to be sincere as well as funny. I'm not sure where your going with this one, but I was referring to you warning guys not to hurt a black woman. Apparently you don't like black people by your ignorant reply back to me. I'll pray for you "Triple K" !
@ladyjae65 AND...? I dont post comments for the warm fuzzy feelings they may bring....point blank..BLACK WOMEN are animals....White Women dont put their men in JAIL
I remember " ginding on the wall, in the dark, with a total stranger," to this song. Now before we kiss, we have to exchange HIV results.Time is infinite, but WE do not have infinite Time. Our children and grands are fortunate to have us around, with all we know now. I hope our children live at least as long as us. Funny how all that dancing we use to do, the songs we remember and cherish the most, for generations, are songs like this, that sometimes defines our whole life. Love Songs, Peace!
Anyone who is really into classic Philly Soul probably recognizes the great Earl Young's signature drum intro that he used on early hits by the Continental Four, the Ambassadors and the Artistics, just to name a few. Check out his video, "Earl Young's Drum Lesson."
Thanks Frankey, for this music, it brings back so many memories, I was back in Memephis when this can out. I was singing with a group at that time. This bring back memories of my family, my mother brothers and sisters and a son and granson that I lost,. I am so sad, but thanks for the memories. I love these guys.
@gayle2020 Let me be a teenager one more time and I would've clicked on that like button until I got a cramp in my index finger. I spent part of my childhood/teenhood listening to songs like this.
OMG!!! I really loved this song. I was only 12 when this came out, but was on a "love tip" early in life. The Delfonics........one of my favorite groups.

@TheLovemygod - One word....."AWESOME!!"
mssquirrely 1 year ago
@mssquirrely I know thats right! and not only that the message was really clear, forreal and to the point! So if someone heard the message in the song and their heart was intuned then they knew where you were coming from. If they did not then they needed alot a help!

There is nothing like that time of back in the day. The Delfonics were and still are masters of music from the heart and soul...it touches deep. real deep touching a part of life in the "Hood" that no one today could ever experience like we did back then.

My favorite of the Delfonics. My father used to play their jams when I was little.

teehonky 1 year ago

Apparently, the 4 people who dislike this song must like that bubblegum pop shit and have bad taste in music.

@hoodmistress you're right; probably someone in their teens voted 'down' on this
gayle2020 1 year ago
@gayle2020 Let me be a teenager one more time and I would've clicked on that like button until I got a cramp in my index finger. I spent part of my childhood/teenhood listening to songs like this.
