Speed's speed. IIRC, most of the Doom Speedruns I've seen have records kept that are taken from all difficulty settings, so there's nothing wrong with setting a time on Easy as long as you don't compare it to a time set on Hard.

Not that it matters much to me anyway, I'm not much of a Contra player (and I don't even attempt speedruns either, I'd mucr rather just get used to surviving first). Still, I appreciate it coming from the peak of the NES era that coined the term "Nintendo Hard"

And yeah, reminds me of the first stage in the original Contra as well. I guess it's because the theme is the same, it has bridges, and a similair boss (well, before it became large, anyways).

Sorry about the terrible quality on this video, by the way. Not that it matters that much. I'd surely make sure the quality was better if it was something more... 'serious', if you will. If it was THAT serious, I wouldn't give up until I nailed it perfectly, so ya. It was fun, anyway.

That's alright, it IS a hard game, just be sure to push yourself into Normal when you are ready, don't say in Easy forever or else you won't ever get better :P

Some consider this (and Hard Corps.) to be one of the hardest Contras, though others believe that the earlier ones were - so different Contra games may be easier or harder for others it would appear, so don't be discouraged!

Wrong. Personally, playing on easy mode is like going to a test at school with the answers right in front of you. There's no challenge, therefore no need to be recognized as accomplishing something.

Wrong. Are you saying a speedrun of Super Mario Bros. 3 doesn't count because the whole game (perhaps with an exception for world 8) is actually easier than easy mode on this? It really doesn't work that way. A speedrun is a speedrun, no matter how hard a game is. Hell, it's even FACT, not an opinion. As long as it is a run done as fast as possible by the player, it's a speedrun. If now whoever did the run refers to it as one. It still remains one even if you fail alot. That just makes it bad.

Wrong... and right. Yes it is a speedrun. What the true issue at hand though is the legitimacy of the challenge. Like I said, if you're going to purport that you made a speed run in Contra on the easiest mode, that isn't much of a challenge. A speedrun on Hard mode would be much more impressive. Also, SMB 3 speedruns are hard as fuck.

Making speedruns of SMB 3 might be hard, I don't know, but the game at hand is easy if you ask me.

And yeah, I agree, it would be much more impressive. I didn't really aim to impress with this run anyway, though. I was just trying to push myself to my personal limits... on easy. Yeah, I could've done a speedrun on normal or hard, too. It only takes a bit of practice; You'd learn the stages like the back after about 20-30 minutes or so.

I think that's pretty silly. The original contra is by far the easiest entry in the series. Contra 3 is probably the hardest.

I remember it being harder than this one though, not even harder, it just had more enemies and was less boring, this is just a graphic update :/, and beating Contra 3 on hard mode made you a man instantly, I think I'm done with vidya gaymez.

I remember thinking the same thing initially and then realizing that the Contra games weren't getting easier, my reflexes, spatial judgments and Contra skills were just improving with age.

The reason I know this is because I can easily beat Contra and the PS 2 contras both destroy me. And yea, you aren't a contra master until you can beat Contra III on hard (without losing a life).

there is quite a nice glitch you can use to get 99 lives, it makes normal mode still hard but you can still beat it without using continues =) i has will send it to u.

There is away you could have shaved like 10 seconds of your time easy. Once you kill the mini-boss, grapple up there and take his ride. It goes insanely fast.

Fair does but try speed running the whole thing on Hard mode some time! Probably one of the most challenging Contras on Hard mode! I can only manage up to stage 4 speed run without dying - damn water skeleton dragons always take a life off me.

I just did a speed run (just a test, didn't record) and I got a time of 1:47 on Normal.

I find it's much faster if you skip the mini boss and just run past. Once you do it a few times it's movements become predictable and it's very easy to do.
