Wait....Arthur didn't know magic caused his mother's death. He thought she dies right after he was born. When Morgause told him what Uther did, Merlin "convinced" him she was lying to stop him from killing Uther. So why does he agree with his Uncle when his Uncle says magic killed your mother?

If Morgana's motivation for turning to the dark side were truly grounded in a desire to end the persecution of magical people, then why in the world did she thwart a plan that would have returned magic to Camelot? Even if she didn't know about the deal, she's a clever woman; she could have reasoned out for herself that such an act of healing could change Arthur's stance on magic

They have similar mannerisms and frequently make the same facial expressions, and cry pretty much the same as one another. Similar in looks, too. I'd say Jensen has more well developed talent, only because he's longer at it, and a bit older. VERY similar acting styles, though.

Wha-? That was so dumb. Gaius should have told Arthur about the amulet he found, and then pointed out that the old sorcerer had nothing to gain by killing the King. In fact, it was totally against his best interests. Even if he did supposedly have some vendetta against Uther, why say he's going to heal him? He could have just let him die naturally.
Sorry writers, that was a really badly convoluted plot to keep the drama of Arthur not being open to magic and Merlin having to hide.

We get to see Arthur as King why not get Merlin as a Court Sorcerer or something? @Ashleyls17 Personally, I don't even expect them to reveal his secret anymore - except maybe on the last episode. But it's getting irritating because the bad excuses and Arthur-being-knocked out or turned the other way is just old at this point.
@AWickedMind True. I just hope the writers see sense and have it come out. There is only so far they can go with hiding it and I think they are hitting that point. Hope season 5 gets a lot of open Sorcerer Merlin and King Arthur united. They could get another season/series out of it if they did.

All they had to do was point out that the sorcerer had no reason to do it, that his intentions were obviously good, and that some people with magic and some magic itself can be trusted. That should have been the win. For Arthur to simply realize that Old Merlin didn't betray him.
@AWickedMind The thing is, Arthur would have thought that the amulet was planted by the sorcerer in order to kill the King. . there really was no way to make the "old merlin" innocent.

And even if he for some reason wanted Uther dead, then it wouldn't have made sense for him to agree to heal him. See what I'm saying? That is common sense that the characters should have pointed out.
@AWickedMind You are wrong,if Gaius told Arthur about the necklace it would mean nothing to Arthur, anybody could have gave it to Uther and Gaius had no proof about where it came from or who put it on Uther. The king died and it looked like the sorcerer did the spell wrong. Arthur blamed himself for trying to use magic to save his father when Uther was against magic, good story and great episode.
@AWickedMind Sorry, but i think you're wrong.. The old sorcerer, was not evil indeed. And the fact that Arthur thought that his magic killed his father was not a badly convoluted plot as you say. It just tries to strengthen the view, that magic bad is, is false. That's the point and it is not a mistake. I agree that Gaius should have told Arthur about the amulet, but that is not making the plot convoluted.
@AWickedMind I agree with you, this episode was really dumb and the plot was boring. I think the episode would have been better if Gaius gave a direct reason as to why he wouldn't tell Arthur about the amulet, and if Uther mentioned Morgana, and also revealed to Arthur that he was born of magic, giving Arthur great confliction about whether to save him or not.
