okay... so it works for me, but everytime i change my icon i usually get the preview pic for a png, jpg or gif rather than the actual icon... what do I do??
@wobblytooth hmm.... are you copying and pasting by using the "edit-paste' method? You can't right click to copy and paste... if thats not the problem then maybe the app can't be changed?
@hattrickk15 I know this is an old comment, but you could make a new folder, then save the icon u want to back up onto the folder icon (copy/paste icon onto folder one)
So when you're on the get info window, there is a small icon on the top left corner, and you click on the icon, and then you click edit, copy. after that, make sure that you click on the small icon of the application you're changing, then click edit, paste. if that's not working then im not exactly sure what the problem is..
Oh , that would be your recording area, to fix it, on the options menu, click edit recording area on very bottom of the window then adjust it, you could also click "follow mouse" and the recording area will follow your mouse
Oh, well there should be an option beside mouse clicks, Choose "halo" (the circle). If your having any issues, make sure that right above mouse clicks , it says mouse recording: With each frame captured.

What is it that you can't get to work?
