I know of Bill Keller all too well. But believe me, he is small potatoes in the evangelical game. He talks a good game, but in the end, can't compete with the big dogs. He can't keep his show on national television, and is always behind on his financial commitments. He is always coming out with crazy unrealistic projects to make America a "Christian Nation once more". Knowing his insanity, I give the 9-11 Christian Center 6 months-2 years before it closes.
@acehighpat yes, you are correct. keller fails in all of his projects. this is just another sad attempt for keller to raise money to get back on tv. according to keller's website he needs 8.4 million for his "christian" center, but it turns out, 6.3 million of that is to get his show back on national tv. we all know how he fails at that.
@SuperPrincessxxx Yeah I read that. The man is a joke. He comes up with some real crazy stuff. He said their was going to be a bombing when Obama was sworn in and got that from a "reliable source". He also would call callers homosexuals when they would hang up on him. He also accused Muslims from the middle east of taking down his 9-11 video, when actually, there was no hard proof Muslims did such a thing (I know I flagged that video, was instrumental in its removal, and I am not Muslim).
@acehighpat , I know, i've been blogging about keller for a while. he is threatening me with a lawsuit for copyright infringement. remember when felon keller said god told him kerry would be elected president and called pat robertson a false prophet and challenged him to a "stoning of the prophets"? lol

The profit mongers in NYC will drive the cost of construction up very, very high with the excuse that they are trying to discourage construction. The real reason is that they want muslim money. When the cash reached a high enough level, the powers that be in NYC will cave and claim that they "fought the good fight".
Shame on Bill Keller--- he is under a demonic grand deception.... 9-11 WAS AN INSIDE JOB... Do the research... Building 7 was demolished--- IT FELL INTO ITS FOOTPRINT & WAS NOT HIT BY A PLANE... Elites want you to hate muslims... so you spend lots of tax money on body scanners... That is the DECEPTION.
Thomas Hartmann, learn the history of the Crusades if you are going to use that as an example of Christian aggression "The fact is, in the twenty years before the First Crusade, Christendom had lost the whole of Anatolia, an area greater than France, and a region right on the doorstep of Europe" to the Caliph. Christendom did not know the concept of Holy War until then. Also, no other terrorists have used religion as excuse, not McVeigh & not the Atlanta bomber.
@backtotheday I guess technically you are right, all those wars the Jews laid on everyone were pre-christendom, but I would not look to the church in the middle ages as any paragon of virtue.
@Calimantalkin Not looking to the middle ages as a paragon of virtue. Merely stating historical fact that is often distorted and used wrongly in a debate. Any group can have evil men of ill will take over. The Crusades were a response. Sometimes, organized religion is used for power. It is one reason the Founders of the US Constitution wrote "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". The Founders knew history.
@backtotheday yes, this exact principle is under attack right now with the mosque thing in NYC, well, there and with the hard right trying to put us all under biblical rule.
@Calimantalkin LOL I am probably what you would call "hard right" because I oppose the mosque at Ground Zero - just put it farther away and be sensitive to the victims and the people who were traumatized by what happened. I don't think that is asking too much. The founders believed in religion and God. But, Islam is not a pure religion because it is a political system that is in conflict with the Constitution. However, it is the location that is opposed, not the mosque.
@backtotheday That's the rub, you don't get to pick which religions are valid, just like I dont get to pick what you say, freedom is a double edged sword. The location of this mosque is only as important as you make it, to me it will be just one more bldg in nyc, a place I will never go if I can avoid it, in other words, it will not affect my life.
@Calimantalkin well, 9/11 actually was very personal to us. Not only does my husband work in NYC, we knew 2 ppl. So, I think we should have more say than you. It does affect our lives. As far as picking valid religions, no one is doing that. If this Imam says he is "building bridges", I don't think this is the way to do it. I say prove it and concede it is hurting people and move it. And, they don't own the bldg. This is not a freedom of religion issue. It is a "zoning" issue.
@backtotheday Well, actually a relative of mine was on his way to work at one of the targets that morning, so it came real close to being personal. A mosque 2 city blocks away from ground zero is hardly "looking down on it" like everyone is saying. If it was a zoning issue it would be denied on that basis, if it is code words for "it's ok to be a bigot just this once, these are bad guys" then I disagree.
@Calimantalkin The Mosque is legal, but it is an intentional slap at Americans. It is rude, and insensitive, and proves the need to be distrustful of these animals.
@luvcheney1 Wow, so by calling them all animals you show me how much better you are? The mosque and 911 are unrelated, islam and 911 are unrelated, the attackers practiced a cult of islam, not mainstream islam. It's like pinning someone like rev Wright on all black churches, or someone like Falwell on all white christian churches, can't you see that? Does your hate blind you to the word of God?
@Calimantalkin All Muslims arent terrorists, but all the 9-11 attackers were Muslims. That is too obvious. Rev Wright doesnt represent all blacks, just the ones who followed him for 20 years, like Obama. I felt calling them animals would clear things up about my feelings. No confusion. The Mosque is insensitive to American feelings about 9-11. It just shows how inconsiderate they are. And, you want to be considerate of them. There is NO reason to be.
@luvcheney1 not shoving anything down your throat, you are free to be who you are, and I never said all religions are equal, how would you even measure that? I said they all have equal freedom to be practiced.
@luvcheney1 It is only inconsiderate if you take a narrow, uneducated view that all Muslims are the same. Are all people who call themselves Christians or buddhists, or any other religion all the same? I am sick of dumbass cartoonish, 3rd grade world views being treated as legitimate arguments. Grow up!
@adamsfall I would feel different if 20 Buddhists all got together and killed 3000 Americans in the name of Buddha. I doubt that is happening, is it? In New York especially, many Americans are kind of sensitive to what happened. Respect for that would be a normal kindness. Obama is backtracking now, he knows he screwed up on this. Me, I already knew what a piece of shit he is, and half the country agrees with me.
@luvcheney1 You miss the point. (By the way, supposed Buddhists have committed atrocities in Sri Lanka) Why should the vast majority Muslims play into the assumption that Al Qaeda represents Islam? They don't. They are a lunatic fringe. Would it be fair to assume that people who have bombed abortion clinics represent all of Christianity?
@adamsfall I ought to be angry at Buddhists then if I were from Sri Lanka. The point is simple. Americans feel badly about this Mosque, because of the actions of Muslim extremists. Building it somewhere else would show cooperation, and respect, for these raw feelings, understandable under the circumstance. A monument to US Victory in WW2, would be inappropriate in Downtown Hiroshima. They will decline to build it, if they want to live in harmony, in the US.
@luvcheney1 I see your point, to an extant. But, should an entire religion shoulder the burden for the wrongful actions of a few? I think that we surrender to Al Qaeda by recognizing them as the representatives of Islam. As long as that association is made, it only perpetuates the problem. Anyways, Ann Coulter calling the 9/11 widows shrews is far more offensive than any mosque.
@adamsfall Al Qaeda is one group of Islamic terrorists, there are many operating in many countries. When there are Islamic attacks in Russia, media doesnt mention that FACT! The head of this proposed Mosque, is supposed to be moderate, yet says extreme things. When a Christian fundamentalist says pure hate, you LIBS dont have a problem condemning them. 9-11 widows feel they can talk political trash, 100% protected from retort, because they are widows. Enter politics, get smacked back. Shrews
@luvcheney1 Are you referring to Chechen rebels who are trying to get Russia out of their country? I suppose that would make the Mujahaddin we backed in Afghanistan terrorists also, or even the French underground who fought the Vichy in WW2. They used bombs and assassinations. Do not conflate terrorist attacks with people trying to defend their homes.
@adamsfall Now you have gone from the "wrongful actions of a few" ( Al Qaeda ) to defending the taking of hundreds of civilians hostage in a theater who came to see a musical. You tried to appear moderate, but degenerated into a terrorist loving fuck in a matter of moments. Still, this incident was widely reported, yet the Islamic part of the facts was mostly ignored. But, due to your post, I assume you fly the Confederate Flag at home, in support of those who fought for their homes and freedom?
@luvcheney1 So let me ask you a question. Were the people who bombed the King David Hotel in Jerusalem (1946) terrorists? Should there be any temples or synagogues near that location?
@adamsfall The Hotel was being used a a military building, therefore no, it was not terrorism. Even If it were terrorism, it was an attack on the British, who left anyway. If America abandons NYC, gives it to Islamic terrorists, I would suspect they would erect Mosques there, dont you? Since Obama hasnt done that yet ( some things must be left for the 2nd term), I think they should be civil about the issue. Obama is being abandoned on the issue, even Reid is on my side.
@luvcheney1 So, because a building has a military use, that disqualifies it as being terrorist? Well, I guess the attack on the pentagon was not a terrorist attack either. I think the idea that America would abandon any city to a fringe religious group is paranoid delusion at best.
@adamsfall Britain did abandon the Middle East. You are the creep that brought the King David Hotel into the discussion. The situation is NOT the same, if someone builds Temples around the Hotel there, the British are GONE. I feel silly spelling this out, but blowing up an office building is quite different than a military building, such as the King David Hotel, or the Pentagon. School buses, kindergartens, are not equal either. Convalescent hospitals.... Should I go on?
@luvcheney1 The King David Hotel was an administrative center. An Office building. Of course, No country ever kills innocent civilians in a legitimate war, right? Dresden? Warsaw? Hiroshima? I suppose that would be different also.
@adamsfall It was the site of the British Military Command. Thats "Military". The examples of Hiroshima, Dresden, Warsaw, were examples of war, between Nations. Al Qaeda, as an example, is not the Army of a Nation. If it were, that would simplify things a lot. I know these things are complex. Your point of view is of an America hating piece of shit. You must be thrilled with Obama. He agrees with you, but knows when to backtrack politically.
@luvcheney1 well, it's good to see that you exclude attacks on U.S. troops from terrorism. A lot of ignorant people make that mistake. I would love to hear your precise definition of terrorism. I am sure it would exclude people like Adkisson, because they acted alone. That holds no water. An individual can be a terrorist as well as a group. Your point of view is that of a hateful, xenophobic, coward who is so afraid that you would sell out the Constitution to feel safe. Need your Teddy Bear?
@misticspear When I think a comment is warranted, I make one. Thats why they put a "reply" button on the site. To :reply". I just enjoy reading stupid Lib comments, and giving a different point of view. These folks, in general, live in a bubble.
Hey Thomas Hartmann, you're full of shit with fucked up false equivalence bullshit tangent crap. YOU are doing what Osama wants, dickhead. Shame you didn't get a better debater to gut you like a fish.
The mosque simply won't happen. Whatever Saudi ragheads might be able to fund this mosque simply won't because they're doing business with the USA and will realize they will be revealed and an expensive backlash will happen.
@eugeneonegin09 LOL! You raghead lovers are clueless for 2 basic reasons: 1. there is no absolute constitutional right for gutter trash Muslims to build where they want what they want and 2. Those opposing that mosque will use endless legal means to fuck over that scum Imam and his cunt wife.
Con Ed owns half the site, possible the lease with option to buy contract won't be legally enforcable, if the Muslims sued to enforce that contract, well, there is jury nullification.
Bill Keller you are an evil backward fruit cake. Take a VERY deep breath and go look up 'confirmation bias' then spend the next 3-5 years learning to overcome it. For those who want more insight to the nasty, authoritarian, unenlightened mind set that Bill (and people like him) possess (it's one of the traits of these people that they will look at NOTHING that challenges their world view) go get the FREE ebook 'The Authoritarians' on the net. 4 DECADES of research in one VERY good book.
@StunnedByStupidity I always love when those who preach tolerance call people names. You have your own bias, and you read books that feed it. Be truly enlightened and challenge what you know before you challenge others. And, then be truly tolerant. Seems to me, the "enlightened" led many revolutions that resulted in death and totalitarian regimes while shouting "democracy."
@backtotheday Fuck me, you guys are fucking retarded. So you lecture me about bias and DIDN'T look up 'confirmation bias' (WHAT ALL SCIENTISTS ARE TAUGHT) and then ignored the book - you guys are RETARDED. And anti democratic, erroneous logic, hypocrisy, hate, Hmmmm yeah you is a 'Right Wing Authoritarian' alright Tell you what, DON'T look up the phrase and IGNORE the book - lets see you go against that 'totalitarian' instruction... Oh and WAKE THE FUCK UP eh?
Stereotyping, demonizing, conspiracy theories, radicalism on all sides... ugh. I know it's not an original statement, but I am becoming more and more confident that if Jesus does return to earth, he would never be a modern Christian. It's amazing how the Letter of Christ's words destroyed the Spirit of his words... (oh, and if anyone has ever taken even an Introductory world religions class, and/or read both the Koran and the Bible, then you know how very small the differences are.)
People like Thom are all over western europe, defending muslims and jailing and fining people who speak out against muslims. European Thom will only wake up when Islam has a cobra-like grip on most of the european countries and sharia law replaces western law.
hmm i like the questions being asked... but the answers don't seem to be able to be heard.
the talking over each other thing is... well to me shows that an answer is trying to be covered up. maybe it's just not my style, but seemed more like kids fighting on a playground than an interview/debate.
I'm furious at Hartmann at his slippery snide agrogant disrespectful treatment. Thom Hartmann was baiting the guest and distorting. I'm very disappointed in Hartmann. He's not engaging in a respectful dialogue. It was bait and switch, an old techique - bait the guest and switch the focus. If I ever see another interview of this low caliber, I'll cancel my subscription.

School buses, kindergartens, are not equal either. Convalescent hospitals.... Should I go on?
luvcheney1 1 year ago
@luvcheney1 The King David Hotel was an administrative center. An Office building. Of course, No country ever kills innocent civilians in a legitimate war, right? Dresden? Warsaw? Hiroshima? I suppose that would be different also.
adamsfall 1 year ago
@adamsfall It was the site of the British Military Command. Thats "Military". The examples of Hiroshima, Dresden, Warsaw, were examples of war, between Nations. Al Qaeda, as an example, is not the Army of a Nation. If it were, that would simplify things a lot. I know these things are complex. Your point of view is of an America hating piece of shit. You must be thrilled with Obama. He agrees with you, but knows when to backtrack politically.
luvcheney1 1 year ago
@luvcheney1 well, it's good to see that you exclude attacks on U.S. troops from terrorism. A lot of ignorant people make that mistake. I would love to hear your precise definition of terrorism. I am sure it would exclude people like Adkisson, because they acted alone. That holds no water. An individual can be a terrorist as well as a group. Your point of view is that of a hateful, xenophobic, coward who is so afraid that you would sell out the Constitution to feel safe. Need your Teddy Bear?

@luvcheney1 why are you still commenting here? why still starting simple arguments with kids on the comments part of thoms vids?

@misticspear When I think a comment is warranted, I make one. Thats why they put a "reply" button on the site. To :reply". I just enjoy reading stupid Lib comments, and giving a different point of view. These folks, in general, live in a bubble.

Why is this a Victory Mosque? No one ever called it that.

@robertmike57 whatcha gonna do, throw yourself to the ground and have a huge hissy-fit cause the constitution supercedes bigots like you
eugeneonegin09 1 year ago

StunnedByStupidity 1 year ago
@StunnedByStupidity I always love when those who preach tolerance call people names. You have your own bias, and you read books that feed it. Be truly enlightened and challenge what you know before you challenge others. And, then be truly tolerant. Seems to me, the "enlightened" led many revolutions that resulted in death and totalitarian regimes while shouting "democracy."
backtotheday 1 year ago

@macpduff That is out of character with Hartmann. Hartmann nor anyone else can't deny this is nothing other than a victory for Islam Mosque.
