TCM The beginning is just a slasher where directors decided to jump to killings as fast as possible without bothering with pre-history very much. People can't just decide eating others at a single family discussion, that's just too naive... The main reason why most horror movies are bad today is they focus more on blood and gore than on suspense and mystery and there is hardly any character development. I mean back in the day, horror movies had characters in which you actually gave a shit about them and had scenes which sent chills down your spine.. Today, characters in most horror movies are so annoying, you are just begging for them to die and the horror is so lame, you almost fall asleep. this film is an improvement at least.

Actually, Jason Voorhees was undead, there's a difference. But alot about what you said for the prequel I agree, and I prefer that over the TCM remake. I liked Battle LA, btw.

the problem i think with these type of movies is... they make no attempt at hiding what genre they are.. its like, setting up an offensive joke, with a warning this style of film making erodes any tension and it compounds until all ya got left is an unpleasant, dirty grimy scene without mystery.. what made the original movie cool, was the twist ending this movie basically is the cliff notes from the original plot.. awesome review as usual though thats for sure
