For those of you wondering about the storyline...Stephanie McMahon was the SmackDown! GM at this point and her father wanted her to quit because she was not performing up to his standards. She was a face and Vince was a heel. In an effort to make her quit, Vince pitted Stephanie against A-Train and she was obviously destroyed.At No Mercy 2003, she faced Vince in a No Holds Barred Match and lost, therefore she was forced to step down as the GM.

But that was back in 1999, during his uber-dramatic Ministry of Darkness gimmick. As the American Badass/Big Evil the Undertaker was less I-shall-eat-your-soul and more "humane". Whenever Taker assumes a new role little to no mention is made of his past incarnations.

Shane was barely making TV appearances at the time and HHH and Stephenie had "divorced" in 2002, so there was no reason why HHH would come to her rescue even if he was in the building.
