I'm not a beginner but I love how nice and simple this look is. Everyone should have a few simpler techniques in their make up bag of tricks, just for those days when you're rushed or don't want to spend too much time making up but still want to look nice. Great video. But which manufacturer is it that makes easily accessible pencil brushes? I'm having trouble finding one... That and I'm also looking for eye pencils that accommodate someone with oily eyelids... :D

@yupyupyup012345 i'm irish so i'm really pale and have blonde hair and blue eyes, and they still look good on me, but i use different shades of brown instead of greys/blacks and only use black for the mascara.

You can make it super smokey,or you can play it down, A smokey eye is a universal flattering look for every body. It's all in the blending technique you use to make it super dark and vampy, or just slightly smokey and sexy.

ATTN: Beginners! YOU CAN afford the same (but different brand) brushes! They sell them at target or eyes lips face .com/makeup/brushes/single-bru­shes !!!! They are super awesome. I am a professional make up artist, and E.L.F not only has cheap products, but they work well and are very affordable for someone starting out. As far as her going fast, pay more attention to the strokes that she uses and follow her technique rather then what she says. Good luck!

The only thing I would suggest since it is for beginners is to use a slanted eye liner brush for the lower lash line. Much easier to apply neatly.

@botdflover143 you dont have to have an eye primer. you can use foundation, just take your ring finger and apply it lightly onto your whole eye and brow bone, and the bottom if your applying eyeshadow there too :)

Why would you use eyeliner WITH glitter pieces on the waterline? Sorry, not smart. A little glitter particle can get lost lost under one of the lids & it scratches the cornea. Been there. Took hours to get locate the little sucker & get it out.

Cant you just use tape for the sides of the eyes? It's more precise and you dont have to use a foundation brush to "clean off the fallout" its only gonna blend it in more.Other than that good video :)

@raiton0523 I've noticed even in professional stage makeup tutorials the models tend to look miserable. Maybe it's because they are trying to keep their face 100% immobile for the tutorial or wait for movement instructions from the artist, or maybe it's just not fun to have your face messed with for someone else to learn. Then at the end, they usually give a big fake smile. Lol.

I have to admit I'm with the viewers that state this isn't very good for beginners. Most beginner makeup is not easily blended ... and while blakc smokey eyes are nice, there are some skin tones these color combos (and teqchnique) just won't work on. As for the brushes, she just convinced me NOT to buy sigma brushes. Every brush she used shed all over her model :/

As a "beginner", it would be useful for me to know exactly what you used to apply the eye makeup (you spoke very quickly so it was difficult to note). I would have loved to see, either at the beginning or the end, a layout of all the tools you used (at one point, it felt like you had 10 brushes on the go - lol - don't forget ... I'm a beginner so it sounded like a lot when it likely wasn't - lol). Great video. I'm saving it for when I try my hand at the smokey eye. :)
