I always wondered why the good guys didn't take defensive positions at the tight, rocky passage right from the beginning. I mean, they eventually retreat there for a last stand anyway. That way the archer's would've actually had a role in the battle, and if they had placed the centaur cavalry to hide in the flank, a charge from them could've turned the tide at a critical moment. I know that this were tactics come up by a teenager, but surely Oreius or someone could've taught Peter the basics.

@WebOnion I bet that was Peter's plan. But would you charge your forces into a holed up position with massive archer support? I wouldn't. The Queen's forces were volatile and would chase without thinking if there was an initial attack and it looked like they were winning. Not only did the charge look amazing, but it was a distraction to draw the Queen's forces in to where she couldn't control them anymore. Classic. I would've done the exact same thing were I in Peter's position.

@KingMakerRook Well, this is all just speculation, but it didn't look like the Minotaur who was in charge of the Queen's forces knew much tactics either. And the Queen's orders were pretty much just "I have no interest in prisoners. Kill them all". I think the bad guys could've just relied on the Queen's power to punch through. That would've made a more profound impact in my opinion. The good guys would be winning, but then Jadis would just blast everyone with a freezing shockwave or something.

Personally, I wouldn't have relied on the fact that her army was so volatile from the start, and still would have used something to lure them in. They had the power, indeed they did, but I still feel that had Peter just started in such a great position, the Queen wouldn't have been so eager to charge. The Big Boss Mino didn't know much of tactics, but she seems a pretty cold and calculating (punny!) character. A tad more subtle.

@KingMakerRook That sounds logical. Though a smaller force, lead by Peter himself would prolly have been enough to lure the enemy in. For example, a centaur cavalry charge would thin the enemy force nicely, then a seemingly chaotic retreat to lure tne enemy to pursue the good guys into the passageway. In those confined spaces would be the good guys' infantry in defensive positions, while the advanging bad guys would be in disarray and under archer fire.

The fact that Peret commited almost his entire force is probably something along the lines to your origional comment, where he isn't as well learned in tactical warfare. Also I would've added the extra cavalry charges from the side in your original comment, which I feel was a nice touch that could've won the day. Besides. Centaurs are now officially the most badass form of cavalry I have ever seen.

Jadis (the White Witch) probably has about fifty thousand soldiers under her banner. And I almost forgot: Saruman, the Balrog, Gothmog, and the Mumakil are included. Saruman could probably use his crebain (crows) to do the same thing Aslan's birds did, dropping rocks on Jadis's army. All in all, it would be an interesting fight to see.

I think it would be sick to see a fight between the White Witch and her army vs Sauron and all his allies. Orcs vs Goblins, Minotaurs vs Uruk-hai, Giants vs Trolls, Easterlings, Corsairs, and Haradrim vs Cyclopes, Wargs vs Werewolves, the Nazgul on their Fell Beasts vs the Vampires, and of course, all of it culminating in a one-on-one swordfight between Sauron and the White Witch. I think Sauron would win because he has more troops. If you count all his allies, he was well over a million troops.

This battle always bothered me. What kind of fucking idiot has a huge hill nearby and puts his army at the BOTTOM of it??? This would accomplish two horrible things:

1) Rob one's army of the tremendous tactical asset that being on a huge fucking hill would provide.

2) Ensure that one's army had no means of maneuver, because any attempt to move would entail climbing a huge fucking hill.

Tactically, the griffins, eagles & birds should've flown in from the sides & not made noise to announce their coming. That way it would've caught the arrchers & those other things off guard with less time to react. Then they could've retreated with far fewer casualties.
