@18Maart1915Gallipoli You know why? Cause most of the Turks living in the Asia Minor coast line and in Pontus are mixed with Greeks living there before 1922. ;)
@18Maart1915Gallipoli To be fair your argument do actually not make any sense and in fact the little sense it makes contradicts your position.
If guns do not kill people, but people do, then mixing people with guns is a very bad idea. You have now provided an argument for why people shouldn't have guns.
According to you people and guns do not mix which we all know to be true. If you do not have a gun, then you can't kill people with the gun you do not have..
What i really really want to see is someone with 5 250 round belts ready to go and 3 barrels just tearing rounds, firing, reloading and changing barrels as fast as possible, showing what a 42 can REALLY do
@lynx69able Yeah, this guy seems so bored and must be so rich to even own and shoot it. I'd have it on my shoulder or at least be in a prone stance (maybe his back is injured?).

To make it simple for you, I put it this way - the guys in the uniforms designed by Hugo Boss just couldn't have bad machine guns.)))
@HolbergEM Sturmovnik was better then stuka, p51 better then fw190, t34 was better then panzer 4, russian submachine gun better then mp40, B26 was better then ju88, British destroyers were better then u-boats, German intelligence should be called german quessing, German auxiliary troops were alchoholic analfabetic retards, and yes the mg42 was the best gun of the war.
@diadorim1234 In your dreams, pal. My favorite part - brits destroyers and u-boats. Thanx for sharing some laughs. This is pointless and time consuming. I'm glad, though, that you did't argue with my comparison "chart".
@FRURMELLL It's not "radio controlled." That's how the tripod mount for the MG-42 is. The tripod makes it alot more easy for a machinegun crew to fire it. All they have to do is adjust an elevation to fire and it can be swung left and right (Traverse & Elevation mechanism). All while simply pressing a paddle switch to fire without having to lean into the weapon. The tripod absorbs the recoil. Anything to make an Heavy MG team's job easier and employ the weapon effectively.
@justaman6972 Funny you should say that, Allied troops called it "Adolfs chainsaw" or just "chainsaw". I think it's here on youtube, you'd have to look, but there is a movie the Allies made about the MG34 and MG42 to show too troops going to Europe. In it the narrator says "It's Bark is worse then it's Bite!". God I always wonder how many G.I.'s got themselves killed thinking that.
@BadBunnyRides Probably as many as were told by the US brass "You guys have the best tanks in the war, don't be afraid of those German tanks. I was told this by a vet who was a gunner in a Sherman. He said "We got the s*** shot out of us, those Tigers chewed us to pieces. They were outta range of our guns and murdering us at the same time.
@Casemaster3000 No, hey use a newer version, the MG 3 (7.62*51 - MG 3 has a lower rpm than the MG42 [ 1500 RPM and the MG 3 1200 RPM] and now the MG 4 which will replace the MG 3 in tanks and so on.
@smokinthepot It's cheaper to run, which is also NATO cares about, ammo consumption. Some times you've just gotta let the lead rip! I agree though, they should have kept it in 8mm.
i WAS GOING TO SAY THE SAME but those periscope at least original ones are rare and expensive this set up was only used in bunkers the average grunt had a regular Mg42 with the bi pod.
@daf867: Brass is sent back to manufacturers to reload them. Makes them companies smile and giggle like little kids during events like the ones on Big Sandy and Knob Creek.
Reading about the MG42 doesn't do it justice. This is the first time I've seen it fired outside of a film and I can honestly understand why Allied soldiers shat themselves if they heard one of these. The rate of fire is phenomenal. No wonder they cut down so many troops on D-Day.

His bursts are wayyy to long. He'd overheat the barrel pretty quick. You should change your barrel after every 200 rnds fired give or take, and the bolt/bolt carriage every 400rnds fired.. The way he's firing in this clip, he could practically overheat the barrel in less than 10 seconds. (It fires around 22-25rnds a second)
MG is important to keep a reliable rate of fire- if hes using 30 round belts from a tripod and no optics he wouldnt be able to see the beetan zone effect of fire past 600 metres, if hes got optics and used a bearing on recorded DFSW MG targets he could get better zones of fire, but stoppages isnt something Id like to put up on video-44gallon drums filled with red dye is good at 300 metres for a field shoot-10 round bursts
Hes getting a lot of stoppages.if he used his left hand to hold the belt feed the link wouldnt jam as much.he doesnt carry his IA out when he pulls the cocking handle back to open the cover he needs to let the working parts forward or it will cause another stoppage as it flies forwards when he begins to fire again.
to all the morons who say that weapon is no good...go tell that to the families of the D-Day soldiers...coz it's by that weapon that most of 'em got killed
MG-42 was a great machine gun. Accurate, inexpensive, reliable, high rate of fire...
Post war the U.S. learned from the Germans how to make a suitable MG for field use. We were stuck during the war with heavy .30 caliber machine guns, and the B.A.R. for squad use. We always needed an intermediate MG. Alot of our G.I.'s paid dearly for our deficiency.
(In a minute and a half this guy shot more 7.92 mm rounds than I could shoot through my Mauser over a whole week on the range!)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
funny how it wasnt reliable...and its not accurate at all....plus...heavy???? the 1919 was alot less heavy...and much more accurate...plus there are several better examples of german machineguns that were alot better
Hate the tripod that the mg-42 uses. That is the only thing I dont like. The modern day mg-3, which is based on this design, is the best .30 machinegun ever built.
no kiddng! He doesn't even seem to really into it. For all he's doing he could have been playing Call to Duty. Would have been much cheaper, too; those rounds must be wicked expensive.
Not exactly the rounds are what is expensive. Milsurp ammo for it goes well under 3 rounds per dollar. Which, when you are talking high caliber rounds, isn't that bad. .308 rounds around here go for more/a little less than a dollar a round...
What is expensive rate of fire. He probably shot a couple hours of fun with a Gewehr 98 in a bit over a minute...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
First off WHAT A COLOSSAL WASTE OF BULLETS!!
Secondly while I do like the MG42, the only thing I don't like about it is the high rate of fire. It uses up ammo like there's no tomorrow. No wonder the Krauts lost WWII. I'll take the .50 cal over the MG42 anyday.
wtf? thats y its good high rate of fire but yes ur right its kind of fail because the rate of fire forced u to change the barrel because it got so hot and that wouldve fucked u up good
Its bad to have a super high rate of fire because in war, soldiers already use up ammo really fast, so why have a machinegun that uses ammo at such a high rate?
The NATO 7.62mm version is labelled MG-3. MG-42 refers to the 7.92mm (8mm mauser) version.

You are right that ( some of us ) got mixed with other races, absoluteley normal... becouse the Ottoman
Empire was very big, north Africa, half Europe, middle east and some part of Russia....
But we Turks began our campaign with Atilla the Hun...who conquered Rome ! So we are born fighters in
our genes... that mixing is not important becouse we raised them as fighters and Righteous aswell...
But now these days the only thing we seek is WORLD PEACE..
18Maart1915Gallipoli 10 months ago
Atilla was not a muslim...we weren't also ( Ottoman Turks )...becouse there are many Turkish races.
But when we became muslim, our only goal was to bring justice to the known world, but you will think
otherwise...that's fine. We never struggled for an injustice case. Check our history, everywhere we came
there was peace, safety and justice. But when we are under attack we are always ready to figt to the very
last man...Google : Gallipoli war 1915

MG-42 was a great machine gun. Accurate, inexpensive, reliable, high rate of fire...
Post war the U.S. learned from the Germans how to make a suitable MG for field use. We were stuck during the war with heavy .30 caliber machine guns, and the B.A.R. for squad use. We always needed an intermediate MG. Alot of our G.I.'s paid dearly for our deficiency.
(In a minute and a half this guy shot more 7.92 mm rounds than I could shoot through my Mauser over a whole week on the range!)

funny how it wasnt reliable...and its not accurate at all....plus...heavy???? the 1919 was alot less heavy...and much more accurate...plus there are several better examples of german machineguns that were alot better

Could you dodge all the bullets being shot at you?

thats not likely but you probably could dodge all their bullets xxHtiman1986xx
StarRider253 2 years ago
how would you feel if you were one of the d-day soldiers getting shot down by that?
StarRider253 2 years ago
Yeah but the Germans were in much more need for a machine gun than the Allies. They had defensive positioning which requires more machine guns.
Harshcore811 2 years ago
Hate the tripod that the mg-42 uses. That is the only thing I dont like. The modern day mg-3, which is based on this design, is the best .30 machinegun ever built.

no kiddng! He doesn't even seem to really into it. For all he's doing he could have been playing Call to Duty. Would have been much cheaper, too; those rounds must be wicked expensive.
barkon 2 years ago
Not exactly the rounds are what is expensive. Milsurp ammo for it goes well under 3 rounds per dollar. Which, when you are talking high caliber rounds, isn't that bad. .308 rounds around here go for more/a little less than a dollar a round...
What is expensive rate of fire. He probably shot a couple hours of fun with a Gewehr 98 in a bit over a minute...

JDubs878 2 years ago
wtf? thats y its good high rate of fire but yes ur right its kind of fail because the rate of fire forced u to change the barrel because it got so hot and that wouldve fucked u up good
ZIPPIBOY12345 2 years ago
Its bad to have a super high rate of fire because in war, soldiers already use up ammo really fast, so why have a machinegun that uses ammo at such a high rate?
Once you run out, you're fucked.
JDubs878 2 years ago
yeah assuming u live long enough to run out
ZIPPIBOY12345 2 years ago
Of course you would, why wouldn't you?
And considering the Germans were already low on supplies late in the war, they should have figured a way to slow this gun down even more.
Better to have a slower firing MG than to have a faster firing out of ammo MG.
JDubs878 2 years ago
1000 rounds a minute makes it an excellent street sweeper, even in 2-3 second bursts.

no assholes, the accurate translation is machinerifle, not machinegun.
